Even then there's a limit to how many times you can do it, the more clearcoat you remove, the faster your paint will degrade due to of UV rays.

Yes but that depends on on the polish material.Very light abrasive doesnt remove that much clearcoat like nano mm.but most of polish in sl remove significant amount of clearcoat

Well when lankan baiyas do a cut and polish before selling a vehicle they don't really care how much clearcoat they remove, they just keep polishing until all the scratches are gone

Deeper the scratch the more clearcoat gets taken off

Yeah if the op wants to keep the car better to first do a proper polish and cut using a mid abrasive.Then change to something like maguiars m205 long run to keep the finish long term.

Because there's no benefit to the car at all, why risk paint failure for no reason

I guess if you bought the car brand new one or two times with less abrasive stuff can't hurt

But if you bought the car second hand you don't know how much clear the previous owner has taken off

I've got one that I used to measure the paint thickness when the car was new just wanted to log the factory paint thickness for future reference.

I didn't even remember I had it until now but I haven't polished the car even once so the paint thickness should still be the same

I dont think so with the amount of waxing clearcoat must be gone now

The clearcoat isn't affected by waxing
