Recently I deleted a large folder, packed with images from my external HD. Right after deleting the folder I formated the external drive as well. Then later realised that I need the folder back. deleted folder was larger than internal HD available space. Would I be able to get these files back? I tried a recovery software but no luck. Any advice guys?

Macho what do you mean by this. Folder that I deleted was about 25GB. I got about 2gb free available on my internal HD. SO what you saying is I have to free up 25gb in my internal hard drive. Is that right?

Yes. You should provide more than 25 GB [ Your lost folder size ] space for restoration purposes.

try Hetman Partition Recovery Free or get the Pro from a reliable source.. i suggest filecr .. i recovered my 1Tb external from this.

thanx for the prompt response macho. my laptop is very basic, entry level machine. HD is only 30gb, so it is impossible to free up 25gb or more. I deleted the folder from my external hard drive and it still has plenty storage. Possible to use this space for this purpose?

I tried two softwares recently. First is Active recovery, but nothing recovered. After scanned with Minitool power recovery and it worked perfectly .
