    Bismillah.

Did Muhammad Write the Quran? NO!

"If Muhammad didn't know to read/write, then his friends wrote the Quran after his death -- right?

    NO!

-- Did they interpret or modify or add or delet any verses of Quran?"
    NO!

Get the facts - straight from the source and then decide what you think about "Allah's Quran"

    Question:
"May I ask - about the people who wrote the first Quran?"
(I am told Prophet Muhammad didn't know to read/write, and his friends wrote the Quran after his death). "Did they interpret or modify or add or delet any verses of Quran?"
    Answer:
Thank you for asking about Islam and the Quran. All seekers of truth are invited to offer their questions about Islam, the world's fastest growing religion, and all that it teaches. It is based on the teachings of the Holy Quran and as such it is our distinguished pleasure to offer the following information about the heart and soul of Islam - The Holy Quran.

We have observed in your line of reasoning within your question, a number of misconceptions and mistakes. Therefore, we would like to start with clarification of a few items:

First of all, even though the prophet, peace be upon him, did not read or write, it was recorded and written down during his life. He had a dozen or so of those who memorized Quran from him, write it down on various mediums, including animal skins (leather), bark and palm leaves. He then rehearsed it with them over and over even up until his passing away. Three of the actual Qurans printed in the time of the companions of Muhammad, peace be upon him, exist today and they are exactly as we do recite them today.

Second, we are pleased to tell you, the Quran was recorded in the hearts and minds of more than 10,000 men and women while the prophet, was still alive. He rehearsed it over and over with his companions day after day and in its entirety from cover to cover, out loud, every Ramadhan (lunar month of Muslim calendar).

Third, you need not be concerned about the honesty and integrity in narration of those people who preserved the Quran in their hearts. They are each and everyone, well known and the veracity of each and every single one of these people (called companions of the prophet) has been attested to and they were all known for having memorized and related the Quran exactly the same as each other. They totally memorized it just as people do today, from mouth to ear and in the exact manner of recitation. This is in itself, an amazing thing. No other book on earth has ever had such distinction in this area.

Fourth, there is no other book on earth like the Quran. Its style and prose in the Arabic language is unmatched for 14 centuries. The prophecies, predictions, scientific evidences, ease of memorization and ability to comprehend is beyond compare.

Fifth, you safely put your mind to rest on this subject of preservation of the Holy Quran, because of its presence with us even today, throughout the entire world. Today every single living Muslim (over 1 billion) has memorized some portion of the Quran in the original Arabic language that it came in, just as the people memorized it over 1,400 years ago. And amazingly enough, over 9 million men, women and children have the entire Quran in their hearts and can recite it for you from cover to cover.

Allah Himself, has promised to preserve the Quran until the Last Days. And He has.

It is the only book on earth that - if you destroyed every book on earth - we would be able to bring it back, exactly as it was, every single letter from cover to cover (by the permission of Allah)

    These are facts.

The Quran of today can be easily checked by Muslims anywhere on the earth. And there can be no doubt in the mind of any Muslim whether or not what is being recited here in India is the same as what is being recited in Arabia or Africa or in the USA for that matter.

You are most welcome to review the facts and consider for yourself. The Quran makes claims within itself to its own authenticity:

    * "This is the Book (Qur'an) wherein there is no doubt."
*"Have not the unbelievers considered that if it were from other than Allah, it would contain many contradictions?"
    * "Allah shall show them the Signs within themselves and on the farthest horizons."
    * "If you are in doubt about it, bring a book like it."

To date, none have been able to produce anything even close to the Quran in beauty, style, meaning and prophecies. The scientific proofs and evidences make the Quran the most talked about book in the intellectual world today.

The preservation of the Noble Quran during Muhammad's time:

When Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him received the Noble Quran's Revelations in a 10-years span, he had everything documented on paper and saved with his close disciples and immediate family. He also had the entire Noble Quran memorized along with many of his followers. The Noble Quran during the times of our beloved Prophet peace be upon him was carefully preserved and protected from man's corruption. It was documented on paper and it was entirely memorized by many.

When Uthman, the third Caliph in Islam, compiled the Noble Quran, he did not determine the numerical order of the Noble Chapters and the Noble Verses. The entire Noble Quran as I said was already documented and memorized. Chapters from the Noble Quran were recited by our Prophet peace be upon him at least 5 times a day during the Muslims' five-daily prayers. Also, the Noble Quran was all recited during the month of Ramadan, as it is still done today. There are other daily and weekly religious occasions, festivals and holidays where the Noble Quran back then and still today was recited either partially or wholly. The Muslims who perfected the memorization of the Noble Quran back then continuously refreshed their memories through teaching others: Muslims and non-Muslims about Islam.

So, it is beyond the shadow of the doubt that the numbering and the order of the Noble Chapters and Verses was already determined by our Prophet peace be upon him through the inspiration and guidance of Allah Almighty, and not by anyone else.
Historically, almost every Muslim scholar had the entire Noble Quran memorized by heart. If you live among Muslims or know well how the Muslims deal with the Noble Quran, then you would know that tampering with the Noble Quran is impossible among the Muslims. If someone recites the Noble Quran to the public (in the Mosque for instance) and makes a mistake, then he would find many who would correct him because they would have the entire Noble Quran memorized by heart.
The memorization of the entire Noble Quran is something sacred in Islam. It helped the Noble Quran remain error-free from man's false documentation. Today in the Middle East they have programs and rewards for those who have the entire Noble Quran memorized. I once saw on TV a biography about a 4-years old little boy in Iran who had the entire Noble Quran memorized! He received a big reward and was enlisted in the "gifted kids" program.

We must know that according to Islam Allah Almighty Himself is protecting the Noble Quran until the Day of Judgment from man's corruption: "We [Allah] have, without doubt, sent down the Message [The Noble Quran]; and We will assuredly Guard it (from corruption). (The Noble Quran, 15:9)"

The authenticity of the Qur'an is a major proof that it is from Allah, the Lord of all Being. Allah has Himself said in the Qur'an that He will guard it from corruption (we seen here how Allah's Book survived 1400 years with out a single change, which proves that Allah has Guarded His Book). Therefore, we quote the following statement to all non-Muslims and Christian missionaries who attack the Holy Qur'an:

"Let there be no compulsion in religion, truth stands out clear from what is error." (al-Qur'an (2):256)

    Salaam,

The oldest Quran available today is the uthmans. The Quran sources directly from prophets era is lost. And there are hadiths that say a goat ate some verses and there were only 112 or 113 surahs. there are some Youtube videos that say Quran was not well preserved.

There aren't any original concepts in Quran other than those that were already there in the society that time. It is very likely that Muhammad wrote it himself.

yes, because islam is from adam alaisalam to prophet muhammed.
all bought the same message,so in quran its mentioned about those great prophets as well.
after a messenger, by time people started to corrupted the book revealed to them as per their convenience.so the next prophet came to correct it again. no one bought new messages.
the person who knows and had read the quran never says that it hs writtten by prophet muhammed Sallallahu alai wasallam.

    Salaam,

It was claimed that Prophet was illiterate, so why did GOD tell him to read....???

[96:1] Read, in the name of your Lord, who created.*

The first revelation was "Read," and included the statement "God teaches by means of the pen" (96:1-4), and the second revelation was "The Pen" (68:1). The only function of the pen is to write.

The ignorant Muslim scholars then decided to proclaim Muhammad an illiterate man! They figured that this would make the Quran's extraordinary literary excellence truly miraculous. The word they relied on to bestow illiteracy upon the Prophet was "UMMY." Unfortunately for those "scholars," this word clearly means "Gentile," or one who does not follow any scripture (Torah, Injeel, or Quran) [see 2:78, 3:20 & 75, 62:2]; it does NOT mean "illiterate."

The Prophet was a successful merchant. The "Muslim scholars" who fabricated the illiteracy lie forgot that there were no numbers during the Prophet's time; the letters of the alphabet were used as numbers. As a merchant dealing with numbers every day, the Prophet had to know the alphabet, from one to one-thousand.

The Quran tells us that Prophet wrote down the Quran - Prophets's contemporaries are quoted as saying, "These are tales from the past that he wrote down. They are being dictated to him day and night" (25:5). You cannot "dictate" to an illiterate person. The Prophet's enemies who accuse him of illiteracy abuse Verse 29:48, which relates specifically to previous scriptures.

[2:78] Among them are gentiles (Ummiyyeen) who do not know the scripture, except through hearsay, then assume that they know it.

[3:20] If they argue with you, then say, "I have simply submitted myself to GOD; I and those who follow me." Yo...u shall proclaim to those who received the scripture, as well as those who did not, "Would you submit?" If they submit, then they have been guided, but if they turn away, your sole mission is to deliver this message. GOD is Seer of all people.

[3:75] Some followers of the scripture can be trusted with a whole lot, and they will give it back to you. Others among them cannot be trusted with a single dinar; they will not repay you unless you keep after them. That is because they say, "We do not have to be honest when dealing with the gentiles (Ummiyyeen)!" Thus, they attribute lies to GOD, knowingly.

[62:2] He is the One who sent to the gentiles (Ummiyyeen) a messenger from among them, to recite to them His revelations, purify them, and teach them the scripture and wisdom. Before this, they had gone far astray.

    1) Allaah sends Archangel Jibreel to repeat the verses to Prophet Muhammad sallAllaahu 'alayhi wasalam.

    2) The Prophet memorizes the verses.

    3) The Prophet repeats the verses to his companions.

    4) His companions write them down and the verses are eventually compiled to form one Book.

The order of the surahs as they are today is a result of the Prophet's specific instructions for the Sahaabah.
