DO NOT APPOINT JOKERS TO HOLD HUNGER STRIKES, DAYASIRI TELLS GOVT

We urge the government to take the required diplomatic steps to resolve this matter on the panel appointed by the UN Secretary-General. We are not asking them to appoint jokers attached to the government to hold hunger strikes, says UNP parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera.

MP Dayasiri was responding yesterday in Parliament when Deputy Minster of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Weerakumara Dissanayake claimed that UNP Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara was trying to insult the leader of the NFF Wimal Weerawansa.

“During my absence I was told that MP Dayasiri Jayasekara has made a false statement about me in Parliament. His intention was to insult the leader of my party, Wimal Weerawansa. I urge you to apologies for the false statement that you made from this house and this country.” said the Deputy Minister.

Answering to this MP Dayasiri said that there was a problem with the leadership of NFF.

“What I said was that I saw the Deputy Minister of Wimal Weerawansa’s party consuming his meals here. Yes I had a problem. My problem was that when Wimal Weerawansa is engaged in a fast unto death the Deputy Minister attached to his party was consuming his meals here. If he cannot ensure that at least his deputy ministers sit with him during his fast unto death campaign, there is a problem with the leadership.”

“We Protest the move taken by Ban Ki Moon. He does not have the right to appoint such a committee. There are no constitutional provisions to do so. We oppose that move. While opposing this we urge the government to take the required diplomatic steps to resolve this matter.

"We are not asking them to appoint jokers attached to the government to hold hunger strikes and change the opinions of the Sinhalese people of this country.” said the MP Dayasiri.
