There's a lot of controversy about the dollar rising up , and many people being happy about it and many not so very much , let us analyse this action economic wise , the main reason why the dollar is ever increasing is because the foreign reserve in Sri Lanka is depreciating very quickly the last time I found out was that we had enough dollars in the treasury for imports for less than 6 months , so the governments needs to bring in Dollars , increase exports , increase outsourcing services and increase services that offer Dollar payments into the country , but the downward effect of this action is people coming to Sri Lankan , would not need to bring in much dollars as the rupee is undergoing depreciation , where goods will also start to rise , but all in all this would be temporary will go for about a month or more , so we'd have to bear till then , now about the people being happy about it or not which is the main most heated topic of today , well as a Nation we should not be pondering the goods of it anyway , as many people are hardworking (apart from the ones in the public sector
) and it's not quite fair by them , as 3/4 of the population works in Sri Lanka , 1/3 in Public Sector , 2/3 in the Private and another 1% and the rest working abroad bringing us foreign revenue , while we should appreciate their efforts and hardwork that helps us to bring in foreign revenue , and the people who work tirelessly day and night on google adsense , adbrite or uploading files online , or working for freelancer and Odesk , microworker etc we should appreciate their efforts too as all these add to the total net worth of foreign reserves , but we should mainly be concerned about the people who work tirelessly from 8 - 5 in Sri Lanka , so we shouldn't be happy about this entire thing , but not sad either , we should not be selfish either and ponder the goods about it because a 2 - 3 rupee or may be 5 rupee gain should not make us forget that we are one nation and not selfish ones for a moment.
I wrote this because I saw some unacceptable replies from some Elakiri Members here , what happened to that unity? :S
So to coming to an end of this slight gesture of awakening , just want to tell you Economy is not something that is concrete , it will change tomorrow or in another 2 hours , but human relationships we'd want them to last longer , let us not be selfish over small , and temporary gains , as a nation we'd need to think deeper about others and ourselves on how we treat them.
Cheers!
