Sensors are quite sensitive... For eg: the MQ6 can detect 200-10000ppm LPG , iso-butane, propane, LNG.
The problem is that if you have it mounted on the roof, it won;'t be helpful. Both Propane & Butane are heavier than air. Propane is 1.55 times and Butane is 2,08 times heavier than air.
So the placement matters. It should be placed ground level near where the gas is.

yes . thats true. then it will detect if a leak occurs from tank or hose. but these incidents happen not entirely cz of leak. the regulator or hose blasts when it cannot contain the pressure and when the hose blast off, it can catch a fire if theres any electronics or sparks or flammables so i doubt that a sensor could help. it is something better than nothing.
