Hey...this high memory usage is due to memory leaks in FF, not because it is using it for anything useful. I don't mind a program using lots of memory with a reason!

If I try, I can get FF memory consumption to 500MB with only 1 tab! The memory leaks are coming from Javascript. If you turn off Javascript, this issue is not there....but you will be missing a lot of web functionality. Firefox 3 solves this to a great extent, and I'm really looking forward to the final release.

P.S.
I had trouble running Crysis with Firefox open because of this, when I had 3GB RAM. (I don't use a pagefile fyi)

Yeah! I also heard about the memory leaks in FF and I think I read somewhere that it would not be fixed even in FF 3.0

LOL when you have Broadband internet at the speeds we have here opening up 6 tabs with embeded video etc is not unusual machan? I have one tab uploading to imageshack, otther uploading to RS, one downloading etc..

IE uses half of what FF consumes for the same tasks. I have 2GB of memory on my Core 2 duo
