Because of its rapid growth in the last couple of weeks the Dot TK Registry and the Tokelau government have decided to offer a one-time possibility for all trademark owners in the world to register their trademarks exclusively in the Dot TK domain name zone. Therefore, Dot TK has closed the normal registry for paid domain names and opened the registry exclusively for all small, medium and large-size corporations to register their trademark domains, between October 26th and December 3rd 2007. This is the Dot TK Sunrise Period.
During this period, corporations can register Dot TK domain names that correspond with their trademarks which allow protection from misuse of registered trademarks, cyber squatting and to provide time for resolution of disputes over trademarks. Legitimate proof of trademark ownership is necessary in order to complete these registrations.
Why?
The Dot TK Registry and the Tokelau government wants to prevent cybersquatting by giving all small, medium and large-size corporations the opportunity to protect their trademark rights within the Dot TK domain zone.
Dot TK is a popular domain extension. Currently there are more than 1,700,000 active domains within the Dot TK Registry. Dot TK is not only a national country code top level domain, but accepts registrations from all over the world.
Dot TK is growing with 10,000 new domain names a day. Most domain names are registered free of charge in return for advertising content. By registering your trademarks within the Sunrise Period you can not only protect your trademark, you can also transfer existing domain name registrations within the Dot TK Registry that are currently registered for free.
On December 3rd 2007 the Dot TK Sunrise Period will end. From that day on all names are available for registration to companies and individuals worldwide. Paid registrations on December 3rd and beyond could include your trademark domains. At that time, no legitimate proof of trademark ownership is necessary anymore in order to register these domains. This may directly affect your brand and your business.

How?
There are three steps of the registration process:
Pre-registration:
You can start registering your trademark domains here. Please note that all pre-registered domains are subject to verification in the due diligence process. For each domain you need to choose the trademark authority and your trademark reference number within that authority.
Due diligence process
Within 5 days of your order the domain name pre-registrations will be reviewed by Dot TK's team of due diligence specialists. During this time we will check your ownership and we may call you, during business hours, to verify your registrations. Domain names that do not reflect your trademark registrations will be removed from the order.
Payment and completion of your order
After approval of your pre-registration, you will receive notification. This notification will be by email.
When?
You should register your trademark domains within the Dot TK Registry as soon as possible, since the Registry is taking registrations within the Sunrise Period on a first come, first serve basis, which is based on the date –and- timestamp of receipt of your order.
