External Affairs Minister Professor G.L. Peiris is scheduled to leave for the United States today, following an invitation extended to him by the U.S. State Department.
The Ministry of External Affairs noted that during his four-day visit, Professor G.L.Peiris will meet U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and hold discussions.
Moreover, the Minister is also scheduled to meet representatives of the U.S. Congress and the Senate as well.
Supervisory Parliamentarian of the External Affairs Ministry Sajin Vaas Gunewardene and Minister of Environment Anura Priyadharshana Yapa will accompany the External Affairs Minster on his visit to the U.S.
