Lot of establishments like banks, mobile service providers are promoting e-bills or e-statements instead of paper bills and paper statements.
Their claim is that it will save paper thereby helping the environment.
This is true. It is also true that the main aim of these establishments is to cut down their operating costs. Sending e-bills and e-statements are a lot cheaper than paper bills and statements, notices etc. In addition, it can be convenient for customers who use email as delays in receiving the bill or misplaced, lost bills in the post etc are cut down.
What are the other pros and cons of e-bills, e-statements etc ?
For e.g. can one use an e-bill as evidence for bill disputes, legal matters and even evidence in courts, and for the purpose of billing proof.
If the CEB or Water Board offered e-bills in the wonderful future
, would you opt for it? If they come to disconnect your supply saying payment not received, would you be able to show your print out of the e-bill receipt. (This is even now applicable for utility bill settlements via the internet)
Could you share your experience and thoughts on e-bills please ?
thanks
