Has anybody got down new laptops from e bay? They seem very cheap compared to sri lankan prices. Are they reliable? What about the customs taxes here?
If anybody has experience, please share. Thanks
Well, I wouldn't trust eBay for expensive items. Cos if something goes wrong, then claiming warranty is a hassle. You have to pay all the shipping chargers. I don't think eBay laptops are that cheap when you add up shipping cost and tax.

no the ripping charges cost 100 dollars average. Even with 25 percent tax they are still much cheaper. Any comments? Best thing is to find feedback of someone who has done this

Most of the time tax is charged on the value quoted by the local dealer/agent for that particular brand. Therefore what you think as 25% of the eBay value might not be the actual amount you have to pay tax for. For example, you might be able to buy a notebook for $400 on eBay but if that is sold in SL by the agent for $1000 that means value before tax is considered as $800, and you’ll be asked to pay $200 as tax (25% of 800, not $100 : 25% of $400). So be careful, and ask them exactly how they calculate tax.
