No. Dont take the most quickest literal meaning that you see to it. you'll have to see an example of a calculation to really feel how this jargon might've originated.

You are not answering the question. Are you saying that the author is incorrect in saying that Arc elasticity and mid point elasticity are similar in nature to warrant being combined and stated as one name. Do you have a different article which states that they are different. And what the Wikipedia article says is logical, what you say is not, which makes it that much harder to believe you.

But I will qualify my statement - I have no prior experience on 'arc elasticity' and 'mid-point elasticity'

We are not discussing the reliability of Internet sources. I have given you 4 sources which show that MC can be calculated using differentials. There are obviously very many more. As opposed to you who says that you have never even seen anything like that. If you want to criticise the sources, you should have evidence which states that the differential method is incorrect. That's what makes criticism constructive. What you are doing now is refusing to believe when it is staring at you in the face.

The only defense you have is, it was on the Internet, so we can't believe it.

And about the proverb, I guess the sarcasm was lost on you.

Ya ya.. its probably a mistake, but not Tom's fault. He gets his facts from the Wikipedia  (now you know whome to blame, dont you Lord Voldermorrrt??)

Now that's just stupid, and I didn't expect it from someone like you. I did notice the mistake, but didn't bother to correct it because I intended 'Mal Aiyya' to read it, and I knew that he would understand. And just so you know, I typed it from memory, without referencing.

If we are going to nitpick, how about 'whome' and 'the Wikipedia'. It's just 'Wikipedia.'

This is similar to what George Bush did. He said 'the' Google in an interview and got humiliated.

Will try to get the video. There was another blooper and the whole thing was quite hilarious. :D

WoW
well even I just typed from my memory without referring to any textbook :-)

and plus since its a formula it makes a big difference, if you know what i mean.

One word could 'change' the whole thing :P

not nitpicking but jus , you know :P

Haha.. Well I never meant to offend you.

And about the Arc and MPF, with MC calculations, I'll find some time, complie a real document and pass it to you. Compliments from Mal Aiyya.

Right now, I am just too sleepy to type a reply finding different facts and sums etc. to disprove and prove whatever necessary. But it does not mean that whatever is published on the internet is completely wrong.

I did not deny the whole way of differentiating it, I said its correct, atleast mathematically. It can also be used at times. Just go back to my replies to see what exactly I've told in them, only if you have time, or else dont bother.

None taken.

OK that would be great, rather than discussing without solid proof.

No I really can't be bothered to go back to previous posts and anyway it would not serve any purpose. I'm not out to prove you wrong, I'm just after what is accurate. :)

OK goodnight then.
