This is the same good Need for Speed 2 only with some major enhancements on the 3d topic. However, since the Voodoo 3d acceleration cards were the only dominant in 1997, this game has only extended in that direction, and that is that it supports 3Dfx. Now, if you have some of the Voodoo cards, you'll be able to test all the cars and tracks once again, just in a bit of smoothly presentation then before. However, if you do not have 3Dfx card, you can still play this game as the original NFS II.

In the third major installment of Electronic Arts' Arcade racing series, there are several modes of play available. You have the standard race, with one big difference - now there are traffic cops out to ticket you for your excessive speed. Alternatively, you can take your turn with the radar gun and attempt to pull over speeding computer or human racers.
Returning to the flavour of the original Need for Speed, this adds a new Pursuit mode, where you must out run the cops through fast, open area tracks, while also out-lasting the rest of the pack. Another new mode is knockout, where you race through all the tracks, and whoever is last after each race is knocked out. The winner is, of course, the one that lasts the distance.
As for the cars; there are the Ferrari 550 Maranello, Ferrari 355 F1 Spider, Italdesign Scighera, Lamborghini Diablo SV, Lamborghini Countach, Jaguar XJR-15, Jaguar XK8, Aston Martin DB7, '98 Corvette C5, Mercedes SL600 and the Mercedes CLK GTR.

The biggest feature added to the game is car damage, which we've all been crying for since the inception of this fine arcade racing series. I'm happy to say that on this count, the game benefits greatly from damage modeling. All cars have ratings for body, engine, suspension, and handling. Too many bumps, scrapes, and crashes will bring those ratings down. At first, the damage is subtle, but once you start racking up the collisions, you'll see the car's body start to warp, the windshield and windows break, and the engine start to smoke. Tires will be off kilter, and you'll notice the performance of your car suffering commensurately. There is no way to fix your car during a race, so you are in a bind should the damage be extensive. There is a status window on the top right corner of your screen, though, so you can monitor your damage and respond accordingly. You might want to be less reckless if you see the red damage-indicator bar overtaking the blue status bar. For Need for Speed purists who don't want to play with damage, this option can be toggled off.
Although damage cannot be repaired within a race, it can be repaired between races if you are playing in the new career mode. Unlike the tournaments in Need for Speed III, this career mode has higher stakes attached to it, if you'll pardon the pun. You start you off with a wad of cash and asked to purchase a lowly BMW Z3 or a Mercedes SLK 230. Then you enter a series of circuits organized into tiers. As you advance through the tiers, you earn more money, which you can use to repair your car between races, upgrade your existing cars, or buy new vehicles. There are three different types of circuits in the career play mode. There are regular races, where you try to amass the most points over three or more tracks. There is a knockout mode, where the last-place finisher in each race is eliminated from the circuit. And there is a high stakes mode, where it's you against one other driver with your cars on the line. Each circuit has an entry fee and offers the finishers varying amounts of cash depending on how they placed. In the high stakes mode, your entry fee is your car, and the prize is the loser's vehicle. It's a quick way to earn a car but also a very quick way to lose one.

Michael and KITT investigate an attack by remote controlled missiles. They find out Garthe is behind it all. After a fierce battle against Garthe and Goliath, Garth flees into a building. Michael goes on in after him. Once Michael is inside the building, Garthe manages to capture Michael.
Strapped down on a conveyer belt and heading towards a shredder, Garthe tells Michael his plan to launch a rocket carrying a satellite into orbit. On board is an extremely powerful laser. With this laser Garthe plans to blackmail the government.
KITT is just in time to rescue Michael. Back at the Semi, Devon and Bonnie find out the exact location of the launch site. Michael and KITT must stop the rocket from taking off.
When they arrive at the launch site, Garthe and KARR are there. After a hefty battle Garthe and KARR drive into the blaze of fire created by the rocket thrusters.
Michael and KITT can only stop the rocket from taking off by blowing up the launch site. The story unfolds.
