HD Videos, How???

Hello,

Can anybody tell me the difference between HD Vedios and normal ones??? (Apart from the quality of course, I'm not that dumb!)
I was wondering how one could make a HD Video. Do you need a special software. But if you are converting a normal video to a HD one, then quality will have too be increased, which is in my opinion, not feasible.
Then only conclusion is that you need to have the original tape to do it. And some special equipment.
Is it the way you guys do it? I'm just out of curiosity. (No offense at all)
Just please tell me how you do it.

I'm no expert, but I belive to make a HD clip the source (Music Video) should have been filmed using HD equipment (HD Camera). There is then special software which allows you to rip the HD video off the HD source DVD. This is how I understabd it ... but I may be wrong (cause I've never done any Ripping before). I'm sure there will be some expert explanation soon
