The power supple to 58 major towns in the island and surrounding areas, including Colombo city area, will be suspended for 2 hours and 15 minutes during daytime tomorrow (Aug 09), the Ceylon Electricity Board said.
The Norochcholai coal power plant had automatically shut down this morning due to a tripping of a transmission line from the plant to Veyangoda cutting off 300MW to the national grid.
A special team of engineers are currently working toward restoring the power plant, the Ministry of Power and Energy said.
