Every human being spends third of his life sleeping. He usually needs 8 hours of sleep to rebuild himself. During this time, the body disposes the nerve toxins that have accumulated as a result of the vital daily activities and combustions. If these toxins were not disposed, the human being will not be able to regain his enerfy or continue his day. Sleeping often occurs due to the accumulation of the body’s toxins over the brain cells causing them to separate due to the heaviness of these toxins, and so the neurological current is disconnected between the centers of the brain, which numb the nerves, and consequently surrender to sleep. From that, we understand the importance of sleeping for the body, and in order for us to help ourselves surrender to sleeping, here are some guidelines:

The bedroom should be comfortable, well-ventilated, dim-lighted, and in the calm spot of the house.
The bed and matrices should be comfortable. Cotton sheets that do not disturb the skin are preferred.
Do not carry your work papers to the bedroom, then the bed becomes an office with work and numbers, and so sleep runs away.
Think of something relaxing before going to bed, and distance yourself from worrying problems and sharp tension that awakens the nerves. The problems can wait till tomorrow.
Do not take sleeping pills, though they help in sleeping quickly, they tend to weaken the eyelids movement during transition from one sleeping cycle to the next which are important for the brain to work on rebuilding itself.
Do not drink or eat nerve or muscle stimulant substances like dairies, chocolates, coffee, or tea at least 3 hours prior to sleeping.
Eat a light dinner like a vegetable salad with a fruit like a banana or a fig as they contain amino acids and natural tranquilizers.
Take a warm bath before sleeping because it helps in suppressing stress, and leads to muscle relaxation.
Wear loose cotton clothes that do not contain belts so that they do not interfere with your blood cycle.
Relax your muscles in bed before closing your eyes, and take a slow deep breath several times, then press lightly on your wrist with your other hands thumb where you can feel your pulse twice for one minute. then do that for the other hand.
Lying down on your right relaxes your muscles and joints. Experience has shown that food travels from the stomach to the intestine in approximately 2 to 4 hours when lying on your right side, whereas it takes from 6 to 8 hours if you lie on your left.
Life is tiresome on its own, and so we need to sleep to forget all our problems. In addition to sleep’s importance in receiving a new day filled with work, let us maintain the required hours of sleeping so we could work actively, vitally, and efficiently.
