Explosives found in Colombo suburbs

This morning (05), security forces found seven kilograms of C4 explosives dumped on the beach side of Dehiwala – a busy town in the immediate outskirts of Colombo city limits, official security information states.
The Explosives have been in 500 gram packs wrapped in polythene and newspapers contained in cardboard boxes framed by metal plates.
According to the Media Centre for National Security these explosives were found near the railway track on the coastal line, close to Treasure Avenue. Based on civil information that reached the Police Emergency number 119 about unidentified packages lying near the railway track, the Police units have rushed to the site to investigate. Suspecting those to be explosives the Police have informed the Army Bomb Disposal Unit that lead to recovery of the whole stock of explosives hidden.
Dehiwala/Mount Lavinia Police are conducting further investigations.
