You’re essentially asking how you can stick a twig into a fire without it too catching on fire.

You can only really back up your drive, but that’s risky and not guaranteed. You’ll want to just do a clean install of the OS if you’re not using a snapshot tool like Rollback Rx on the infected machine. If you are then a quick restore would do fine before you connect the drive.

You are more or less correct. But if you are trying to protect your external HDD with your backups or important files from ransomware, you can take some precautions.
It's not guaranteed 100% because some ransomware are smart enough to defeat a few things.
Possible things to do.
1. Make the drive read only. Some WD drives had this feature via their software utilities- or you can use diskpart
2. stop access to the important files or backups in the drive using discretionary access control. This effectively stops ransomware from accessing these data.
3. Used the Controlled Folder Access Feature (Win10) - allows to specify which programs are allowed to access these folders.
But note that nothing is perfect. If the data is really important make another backup and store it off-line, then at least you have a fall back.

My HDD Is 4TB Transcend. so backup is not possible. any virus guard have this feature, please tell me.

Keep the OS security patches uptodate, and reduce the threat vectors, like email attachments, remote access etc.
There are Enterprise level backup schemes that eliminate the ransomware risk, but that's not feasible in your case.
Immunizers prevent some autorun programs to start. This isn't new. The OldMacDonalds Farm AutoRunEater has been in existence for more than a decade - probably more than that. These prevented many worms from running. Bitdefender, Panda, CyberGhost have various immunizers. These are not guaranteed protection against current Ransomware.
