    Hi all,

Currently Im using a Transcend 2 TB External HD. Using it for nearly 10 years I guess.
    Now I'm getting access problems.
So Im thinking about buying a new storage unit.

Its been years since I looked at storage options. I googled and apparently, a lot has changed.

    What I want is:
    - 2 TB storage
    - Durable option
    - Easier to carry in my bag
    - Able to plugin to my laptop and PC
    - Cost effective

What are the options I have??
    Where to buy?

    Thanks

10 years is long enough for an HDD to collect some wear and tear.

I recommend those Transcend Storjet series. I had those purple ones for many years and have nothing to complain about.

WD My Passport series are also good and cheap, but their read/write speed is slightly lower than my older Transcend.

Right now, I have a small mini-ITX tower PC with WD Red HDDs. It was a significant expense but the per-TB cost is still pretty low. I have a decent Internet connection at home and every place I work from (I'm not in Sri Lanka), so this NAS is so much more convenient. I have Tailscale to access my NAS from the Internet.

I cheked 2TB External HD prices on the internet and they are around 25000.
Is there any cheaper options available?

Can I connect a normal computer HD via USB??
I saw normal computer HDs are much cheaper??
