I believe that everybody knows what this reality show is all about. Now that cycle 10 is on air,I thought it will be just like the previous cycle. But what capture my attention is this girl named Fatima who is a survivor of "Female Genital Mutilation". (FGM) <img src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_hDJnqNLuhr8/R8yAxG1dPFI/AAAAAAAAARM/N64hSK9ga54/s400/ANTM-Cycle10-Ladies.png" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" />Female Genital Mutilation?I'm pretty sure most of us don't know what this is.In short FGM= Female circumcision.I am truly  disdain when I google search it.I mean I've heard of male circumcision but women?Medically, male circumcision is an effective intervention  for healthpurposes because the foreskin may harbor bacteria and becomeinfected if it is not cleaned properly.<img src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_hDJnqNLuhr8/R8yTO21dPJI/AAAAAAAAARs/vC64J8uv2X0/s400/FGMslide8.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" />Whereas for female circumcision,  I dont see the purpose of women being circumcised. Whatsaddens memostis  that this practice is widely perform today especiallyin Africa because they believe thatit is meant to preserve the chastity of young girls by reducing theirdesirefor sexual intercourse.And many young girls are dying because of this barbaric act.<img src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_hDJnqNLuhr8/R8yRtG1dPHI/AAAAAAAAARc/d8CwN_cYFpk/s400/kilimanjaro10.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" />Female circumcision=excision of the clitoris, stitching of theright labia major to the left leaving a small whole for urination andmenses purposes.It is commonly performed between the ages of 4 and 8.!!!CHILD ABUSE!!!<img src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_hDJnqNLuhr8/R8ySBm1dPII/AAAAAAAAARk/thRqTl6vBg8/s400/circs.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" />And  FGM doesnt just stop haunting them here.It haunts them andripped them off their future.FGM causes urinary and reproductive tract infections, due toobstructed flow of urine and menstrual blood.The aweful part is that during the first time of having sexualintercourse will often be extremely painful, and infibulated womenwill need the labia majora to be opened, to allow theirhusband access to the vagina.Thus,the husband will have to cut open the labia majora with a knife.I feel that FGM is being practiced out of ignorance,and forselfish male-chauvinistic reasons.I wish that I can increasethe awareness of the public to FGM through my writings.Let us all stand against FGM!!<img src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_hDJnqNLuhr8/R8yQxG1dPGI/AAAAAAAAARU/Dwp5e-IL03g/s400/female-genital-mutilation.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></blockquote>
