Murinho might have been a good coach when he managed porto, inter & chelsea in the first spell, but now he's a poor coach who favours some players for no reasons to see at all. Why the hell would you play Fellani with Pogba after all the failings of the duo in the EPL over choosing carrick to join with pogba which had good results. (ex - fenerbache game) And where is Shaw? Why ain't he playing instead of young? And martial? To be honest ibrahimovic hasn't been great at all. He's too slow to counter attack and doesn't do much other than in the box. Specially against fast paced teams like chelsea. And where is Martial or Mkhitaryen? Murinho has no brain at all now.

A poor show by man Utd. The defence has been poor like always of course

It feels like murinho wants to loose willingly

Man Utd getting their asses whooped!

    4-0 now

Don't know how many they will score :sorry:
    :(:(:(

Manchester City 1-1 Southampton: Iheanacho rescues point for Guardiola's men

    kelechi-iheanacho-premier-league-man-city-v-southampton-231016_izeuk9f85q1b1k5uqvusrdd0z.jpg

Manchester City's stuttering form continued with Pep Guardiola's side needing a second-half equaliser from substitute Kelechi Iheanacho to secure a point against Southampton in a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

The striker cancelled out Nathan Redmond's opener to seal a point for the hosts, who still looked to be feeling the effects of Wednesday's 4-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

City, who recalled Sergio Aguero to the side and handed a first league start of the season to captain Vincent Kompany, looked disjointed and short of ideas in a first half during which the home fans grew increasingly frustrated, even before John Stones gifted Redmond his second goal in as many matches.

Half-time substitute Iheanacho came to City's rescue on 55 minutes, however, turning home Leroy Sane's low cross for his eighth goal in 11 league appearances.
Fraser Forster made good saves to deny Ilkay Gundogan and David Silva as City pushed for a winner, but Claudio Bravo had to beat away Charlie Austin's low strike to ensure City's place back at the top, ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool on goal difference.

Question marks will again be raised over their form, however, as they prepare for an EFL Cup last-16 clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford in three days' time.

City lined up with a back three once more in a fluid 3-2-4-1 system, but there was little to note about their attacking play as the first 20 minutes passed without a shot from either side until Jordy Clasie blazed over from 20 yards.

Southampton had settled the better of the teams and, with 27 minutes played, they capped their good display after pouncing on an error from Stones. The England centre-back, under no pressure, played a square ball behind Kompany and into the path of Redmond, who skipped beyond Bravo before turning the ball home.

Stones thought he had made amends five minutes later when he bundled in Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick, but the goal was disallowed after Aguero, who jumped to head the ball but failed to make contact, was flagged offside.

Guardiola introduced Iheanacho for De Bruyne at half-time in an effort to return some spark to his attack, and the bold move paid dividends within just 10 minutes.

Fernandinho picked out Sane with a fine long pass and the Germany winger squared for Iheanacho, who just beat Virgil van Dijk to the ball to steer it past Forster from four yards.

Iheanacho almost forced a second for City when his cut-back came off Jose Fonte and bounced narrowly wide of the near post, and only a fine low save from Forster denied Gundogan after he linked up brilliantly with the Nigeria striker.

Silva's effort from close range was blocked by Forster and Austin should have done better when he shot straight at Bravo from the edge of the area, but Claude Puel's side deserved their point as they bounced back impressively from a Europa League loss to Inter.

Atalanta 2-1 Inter: Nerazzurri woes drag on as pressure increases on De Boer

    atalanta-inter_xw352k3wjlki1sq9tzpd1b175.jpg

A late Mauricio Pinilla penalty gave Atalanta a dramatic 2-1 victory over Inter to increase pressure on beleagured boss Frank De Boer.

Eder's second-half piledriver looked to have salvaged a point for Inter, before Pinilla stepped up to stroke in an 88th penalty and condemn the visitors to a third consecutive Serie A defeat.

Atalanta defender Andrea Masiello's close-range header in the early stages was just reward for a first half the hosts dominated as De Boer's men struggled for any sort of fluency, before a marked improvement in the second period.

But Pinilla's late spot-kick takes Atalanta above Inter in the Serie A standings and leaves De Boer's men winless in four straight league games, turning up the heat on the Dutchman. Inter are without a win in Serie A since beating Empoli on September 21 and host Torino on Wednesday with De Boer desperate to kickstart his side's flagging campaign.

Atalanta broke the deadlock after just 10 minutes, the goal scored via a beautifully worked corner routine, with Masiello emerging unmarked at the far post to nod in after a clever flick-on from Jasmin Kurtic.

It could have been two just minutes later, but Samir Handanovic palmed away an Andrea Conti header. The Slovenian goalkeeper was again alert to parry a swerving Rafael Toloi strike 10 minutes before the interval.

Inter looked every part a side which has struggled for rhythm this season, frequently giving the ball away and struggling to create chances during the first half. A square ball into vacant space by Ivan Perisic after a bursting forward run to the byline summed up their lacklustre attacking play.

Appeals for an Inter penalty were waved away when Eder went down under the challenge of Remo Freuler.De Boer must have made his thoughts known at the interval, as Inter emerged in the second period with a far greater intensity to their play.

It was rewarded on 50 minutes, when Eder squared proceedings with an outstanding drive into the top corner after the Italy international striker was teed up from a free-kick 25 yards from goal.

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini was sent to the stands against the side he managed for a brief period in 2011, seemingly for his protestations about the award of the free-kick that led to Eder's equaliser.

Home keeper Etrit Berisha then denied Perisic as Inter pressed for a rapid turnaround, palming away his strike.Play became stretched during the second half as both sides looked for a decisive second goal.

Handanovic was again forced to react smartly to repel headers from Abdoulay Konko and Pinilla as Atalanta threatened to retake the lead.Perisic again almost grabbed all three points for Inter but his fiercely struck left-footed drive was again saved by Berisha.

But there was time for late drama when Davide Santon felled Franck Kessie with a wild challenge in the area, allowing Pinilla to step up and nervelessly slam beyond Handanovic into the top corner to gain all three points for Atalanta.

Sevilla 1-0 Atletico Madrid: Koke sees red as N’Zonzi sends hosts top

    steven-nzonzi-la-liga-sevilla-v-atletico-madrid-231016_fgkqdwpiaufh1hq9yc4bj9dng.jpg

Sevilla lived up to Diego Simeone's billing as La Liga title contenders on Sunday as Steven N'Zonzi's second-half strike clinched a deserved 1-0 win over 10-man Atletico Madrid.

Jorge Sampaoli's men came into the game in fourth after a strong start to the season and, having dominated possession for much of the match, they claimed a deserved first win over Atletico in any competition since October 2010.

Angel Correa wasted a glorious chance towards the end of a tight first half and Sevilla should have capitalised on that just after the break – Samir Nasri hitting the post and Vitolo going close.

That proved to be the start of a dominant second-half performance from Sevilla and, although Atletico became compact, the visitors were undone 17 minutes from time as N'Zonzi bounded clear to score his first goal of the season.

Koke compounded Atletico's frustration a few moments later as he was sent off for a second bookable offence and Sevilla held on to move top of the table for at least a few hours and end the visitors' unbeaten start to 2016-17.

The opening stages were very much a battle for supremacy in midfield and, although Sevilla saw more of the ball, they occasionally proved to be their own worst enemy.

Franco Vazquez had an early cross-field pass intercepted by Kevin Gameiro and the former Sevilla favourite caused panic in the home defence before he was tripped by Adil Rami, but Antoine Griezmann smashed the resulting free-kick into the wall.

Sevilla soon settled and crafted their first chance in the 15th minute, as N'Zonzi headed Nasri's cross into the arms of Jan Oblak.Atletico went close shortly after, but Sergio Rico did well to deny Gameiro after the Frenchman burst into the left side of the area and shot.

The match developed into a cagey tactical battle with few clear openings, but Correa spurned a rare opportunity just before the break, latching onto a lofted pass into the box before inexplicably missing the target from 12 yards.

Sevilla looked to up the ante after the break and swiftly went desperately close to the opener – Nasri inspiring a fantastic one-touch passing move and then striking the post from 20 yards. The hosts went close again a few moments later. Diego Godin failed to meet Mariano's cross and it fell kindly for Vitolo in the centre of the area who blasted straight at Oblak.

Oblak could do little to stop Sevilla as they eventually went ahead, though. Atletico loanee Luciano Vietto played a clever pass over the visitors' high defence and N'Zonzi charged through before calmly converting into the bottom-left corner.

Atletico's position was made even trickier shortly after, as Koke recklessly caught Rami and earned a second yellow card, easing Sevilla through the closing stages and to the league's summit ahead of Real Madrid's clash with Athletic Bilbao later on Sunday.

:(Chelsea 4-0 Manchester United: Mourinho's men massacred in disastrous Stamford Bridge return

    chelsea-manchester-united_7i1ca8tonyy51otf35gvm1i95.jpg

Chelsea produced a dominant display to ensure Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge ended in a humbling 4-0 defeat.

Mourinho was back at his old stomping grounds for the first time since being sacked by the club he guided to a third Premier League title in 2014-15, but he had no reason to celebrate as Antonio Conte came out well on top in their first meeting in English football.

The Portuguese's only previous match in the opposition dugout came in March 2010 when he led Inter to a 1-0 victory in the Champions League, but his second trip could not have contrasted more starkly.

Mourinho's team, without captain Wayne Rooney due to injury, were stunned when Pedro rounded David de Gea to score the quickest goal in the Premier League this season after just 30 seconds, and Gary Cahill doubled the lead after 21 minutes.

Chelsea's width and pressing penned United back inside their own half, but Mourinho may point to referee Martin Atkinson's decision not to send off David Luiz for a high challenge on Marouane Fellaini with 40 minutes played as a turning point in the match.

With their full complement, Conte's team extended their lead after the restart, Eden Hazard slotting home after 62 minutes before N'Golo Kante opened his Blues account with a cool finish, sending Chelsea into the top four, just a point off table-topping Manchester City.

United were behind before even touching the ball as Pedro latched onto Marcos Alonso's pass and rounded the needlessly onrushing De Gea to slot home in the first minute.

The hosts continued to play with greater intensity and, after Hazard drilled wide from 18 yards, their lead was doubled when the Belgian's right-wing corner ricocheted off Ander Herrera and sat up for Cahill to slam home from six yards.

Thibaut Courtois was no idle spectator, though, and had to dive to his left to keep out Herrera's 25-yard drive, quickly getting up to stop Jesse Lingard converting from the rebound.David Luiz was lucky not to see red before half-time when he only received a booking from the referee for a reckless, high tackle on Fellaini.

Former Chelsea player Juan Mata replaced Fellaini for the second half in a change that enabled Marcus Rashford to join Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front, but Eric Bailly appeared to sustain an injury in a collision with Hazard and was forced off in the 52nd minute, Marcos Rojo taking his place.

United began to control possession but found themselves three behind when Nemanja Matic picked out Hazard on the left-hand side of the box, and the Belgian stepped inside of Chris Smalling before picking out the far corner.

With 20 minutes remaining Kante dribbled between the utterly anonymous Paul Pogba and Smalling to send a cool finish past De Gea to put the result beyond doubt.

Sections of the home support subsequently chanted Mourinho's name, but they were unable to contain their delight - encouraged by an ecstatic Conte - at a victory over their former boss and a club-record eighth consecutive unbeaten meeting with United.

Mourinho suffers heaviest Premier League defeat against Chelsea

    jose-mourinho-manchester-united_6csqrbt1z6qz1bse1or0ilkys.jpg

ose Mourinho suffered his heaviest Premier League defeat as his Manchester United side were destroyed in a 4-0 defeat against Chelsea.

Mourinho's return to his old stomping ground ended in disaster as goals from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante secured the three points for Chelsea.

United were simply never at the races as they were blown away by Antonio Conte's charges, who inflicted a third league defeat in just nine games on Mourinho's men.

It was also just the second time that Mourinho has seen a side he has managed in the Premier League concede four or more in a game - the first being when his Chelsea team lost 5-3 to Tottenham in 2015.

But while the result was the Portuguese's heaviest loss in England's top flight, it wasn't his most weighty defeat in all competitions.Mourinho's heaviest loss still remains when his Real Madrid side were thrashed 5-0 by Barcelona in La Liga in 2010.

'It's humiliating' - Mourinho slams Conte for Chelsea touchline antics

    jose-mourinho-antonio-conte_5614hbhae8k019simn2zj133a.jpg

Jose Mourinho tore into the "humiliating" way Antonio Conte acted on the touchline during Manchester United's 4-0 defeat against Chelsea on Sunday.

Goals from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante done the damage as Mourinho lost on his return to his former club at Stamford Bridge.

But despite trailing 4-0, United fans were the loudest of the two sets of supporters and that sparked Conte into marching up and down the touchline urging the Chelsea crowd to make more noise.

And as Mourinho and Conte embraced at the end of the match, the former appeared to criticise his opposite number for doing so.
"Don't do that [celebrate] at 4-0. 1-0 okay, but 4-0 is humiliating,” Mourinho said to Conte in Italian, which was picked up by nearby microphones. When asked what he told Conte at the end of the affair by Sky Sports, Mourinho refused to comment.

His counterpart smiled and said: "I think the private conversation must remain private. If someone discovers something, okay."

Cahill: Chelsea 'dominant from first minute to last' against Man Utd

    gary-cahill_195qybowav8m81isrwcnmgq2pd.jpg

Gary Cahill hailed Chelsea's performance in their 4-0 drubbing of Manchester United as one where his side "dominated from the first minute to the last".

Cahill, captaining Chelsea in John Terry's absence, grabbed Chelsea's second goal with a close-range finish after Pedro had given the Blues the lead within 30 seconds.

It is Chelsea's third consecutive Premier League win, and Antonio Conte's men have now scored nine goals without reply across those games after Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante added second-half strikes.Cahill said his side were pleased with another win, and even more so with the performance.

"Winning the game is the most important thing but the performance today was fantastic," Cahill told Sky Sports."We dominated from the first minute to the last and it was a really impressive performance from us.

"I couldn't miss from there," Cahill added, speaking about his strike. "I'm delighted to get a goal. It was a decent moment in the game."The performance that went with the three points was the most pleasing thing."

"We dominated from the first minute to the last and it was a really impressive performance from us."I couldn't miss from there," Cahill added, speaking about his strike. "I'm delighted to get a goal. It was a decent moment in the game."The performance that went with the three points was the most pleasing thing."

Fellow goalscorer Hazard echoed Cahill's glowing assessment of Chelsea's display."It gives [us] a lot of confidence, we start well. We deserved to win. We dominated the game from the first minute to the end. For the fans, for us, it's a great afternoon," he said."It's a big game and we lost two big games this season against Liverpool and Arsenal and for the fans that means a lot.

"Today I did well, the whole team did well. In football the most important thing is three points. We have a lot of confidence now we have won three games in a row."

Bailly suffers knee injury in Manchester United defeat

    jose-mourinho-and-eric-bailly-of-manchester-united_1j8js73ysr9551dwz705dp4nty.jpg

Jose Mourinho saw his Stamford Bridge woes increased on Saturday, as Eric Bailly injured his knee ligaments in Manchester United's 4-0 defeat away to Chelsea.

The Ivorian defender appeared to sustain a muscle injury just minutes into the second half, going down heavily after trying to challenge Eden Hazard.

Bailly was left on the ground clutching the back of his leg, and despite clambering to his feet was immediately replaced by Marcos Rojo. And speaking after the game Jose Mourinho confirmed he had damaged his ligaments.

“Bailly is injured and I'm afraid it's a bad one. It is in his knee - in the ligament area," the manager explained.

It was a further defensive setback Mourinho did not need, as a comprehensive defeat and the injury meant the Portuguese's return to his former club was far from happy.

Mourinho blames 'incredible defensive mistakes' for Man Utd loss

    edenhazard-cropped_th8opy3yg9c21ite66ff6iabg.jpg

Jose Mourinho felt "incredible defensive mistakes" were to blame for Manchester United's 4-0 thrashing against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Portuguese manager was returning to face Chelsea for the first time since leaving last December, and things started badly for United with Pedro opening the scoring after just 30 seconds.

Gary Cahill made it 2-0 when the ball ricocheted off Ander Herrera from a corner, while both Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante dribbled past Chris Smalling to add to the hosts' tally after the restart.Mourinho felt the early goal completely changed the match and was frustrated to see his team punished on the counter-attack.

"The first minute you analyse the goal and you see immediately what happened. We made incredible defensive mistakes. Individual defensive mistakes and you pay for that," he told Sky Sports."If you equalise or score the 2-1 after the 2-0 you have a big chance because in terms of football the team was quite comfortable.

"With a strategy you cannot [let the opponent] score in the first minute and after that, the game changed completely. [The gameplan] goes out of the window, but we were coming to have an offensive approach."We wanted to create chances, we wanted to score goals. We showed that immediately after the 1-0 when we had chances and positions. I think at the end [Thibaut] Courtois had more saves than [David] De Gea.

"I told the players we should take the risk in the second half knowing they are very good on the counter-attack, but if we scored a goal like we almost did the game could be completely different, but it's one of those days where we give the advantage to the opponent.

"They were winning 2-0 after 20-25 minutes. After that they played well, they were defensively compact and they used what they possess best, which is the counter-attack."In the second half we played with [Marcus] Rashford through the middle to create more mobility from Zlatan's [Ibrahimovic] position.

"We played with two midfield players we had no problems at all, we had control of the game, but the control is a bit dangerous because Chelsea has great players on the counter-attack and they were just waiting for that."Following the fourth goal the Chelsea support chanted Mourinho's name, and the manager said he got the sort of reception he was expecting.

He added: "I was not expecting anything different. The people inside of the tunnel are friends, and the crowd behaved in a normal way."

Neville slams 'embarrassing' Pogba and Herrera following Chelsea loss

    paul-pogba-man-utd_mdvwt9wtaubs1wnp65930bzr4.jpg

Gary Neville slammed Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera's “embarrassing” performances in Manchester United's 4-0 defeat against Chelsea on Sunday. The Red Devils were destroyed at Stamford Bridge as Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante all found the back of the net for the hosts.

And Neville was heavily critical of the United pair's defensive efforts after the match on Sky Sports, saying: “It was embarrassing from Pogba and Herrera.
“Kante just walked through them. They are the midfield players.

“Kante’s just walked through, Hazard’s just walked through. The first goal was just a joke.“Man United have signed £180million worth of midfielders over the past few years and I still don’t know which is the best pair.”

Real Madrid 2-1 Athletic: Morata bundles home to sent hosts top

    alvaro-morata-real-madrid-athletic-bilbao-la-liga-23102016_x7dxrbd3osdx176ey0vss71p5.jpg

Substitute Alvaro Morata netted a late winner to help Real Madrid to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao and send them top of the LaLiga table.

Zinedine Zidane's men appeared to be on their way to their third league draw at the Santiago Bernabeu in succession - something that last happened in 1969-70 - but Morata found the net with seven minutes left on the clock to help his side to victory.

Comfortable wins over Real Betis and Legia Warsaw suggested Madrid were on the right path again after four games without a win preceding those two results, yet Athletic caused them all kinds of trouble at the Bernabeu.Things looked positive for Madrid early on, with Karim Benzema opening the scoring after just seven minutes to set them on their way, only for Sabin to restore parity in the 27th minute.

Madrid created plenty of chances to regain the lead, with Cristiano Ronaldo in particular rather wasteful in front of goal, and they eventually scored the crucial second in the closing stages via Morata.

Madrid sit top of the table following this weekend's results with 21 points from nine games, one clear of second-placed Sevilla, with Barcelona in third on 19 points.Athletic made an encouraging start to the game and threatened via Mikel Rico and Inaki Williams in the opening exchanges, but it was the hosts who grabbed the lead.

Isco collected a pass from Marcelo, shrugged off Enric Saborit and squared the ball for Benzema, who slotted home through the legs of goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz for his fourth goal of the season.

The Bernabeu side immediately went in search of a second goal and Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale and Ronaldo all came close to extending their lead, only for Athletic to then restore parity from out of nowhere.

Pepe failed to cope with the physicality of Javier Eraso after a cross from the right, with the ball eventually somewhat fortunately falling to Sabin, who volleyed past Keylor Navas from close range.

Ronaldo should have restored Madrid's lead in the closing stages of the first half, but his finishing let him down twice. He first failed to get his foot to a cross from Bale after the Welshman's superb run down the left, before wasting an even bigger opportunity after a quick counter-attack, his weak attempt barely troubling Iraizoz.

Williams should perhaps have given the away side the lead early in the second half when he aimed a shot over the crossbar from the edge of the box after more poor defending from Pepe.

It was not Ronaldo's night as the Portugal international missed another chance to restore his side's lead when he volleyed high and wide after a cross from the left, before sending a tame header wide of the target after Kroos' free-kick.

Mateo Kovacic and Bale were then both unfortunate not to add their name to the scoresheet, before Morata eventually popped up to make the difference. The former Juventus striker had his initial attempt save by Iraizoz, but he was quick to tap home the rebound.

Madrid escaped a second equaliser shortly afterwards when Williams failed to find the net following an error from Raphael Varane, Navas managing to palm away his chipped effort.

Ronaldo could have netted a third for Madrid well into stoppage time, only to be denied by Iraizoz again on what was a frustrating evening for the attacker but an ultimately successful one for his team.

PSG 0-0 Marseille: Champions frustrated by dogged visitors

    rudi-garcia-paris-sg-marseille-ligue-1-23102016_11mpn0pwnf3rz1byg684k0k9l5.jpg

Rudi Garcia's first game in charge of Marseille ended in a 0-0 draw with Paris Saint-Germain as his new side frustrated the French champions in Le Classique.

Garcia deployed a five-man defence to starve PSG's array of attacking talent any space, and the approach paid off at a rain-soaked Parc des Princes.

PSG were mainly reduced to half-chances throughout, though top scorer Edinson Cavani missed an absolute sitter in the dying stages to secure three points for his side.

The home crowd grew restless as the game progressed at their side's ponderous build-up play and inability to carve out any real opportunity of note against their big rivals, until a frantic last 10 minutes when PSG could have snatched the game on several occasions. The draw means PSG are now unbeaten in their previous 13 matches against Marseille, though that statistic will be of little comfort to coach Unai Emery as his side cede more ground to surprise league leaders Nice.

PSG sit third in Ligue 1, two points behind second placed Monaco and six off Nice ahead of a trip to Lille on Friday.

The pattern of the game was evident from the outset, with Marseille happy to surrender possession to their hosts and block the route to goal with a solid five-man backline. It took 18 minutes for the first shot on goal, with PSG reduced to ambitious efforts from distance.

Marseille keeper Yohann Pele was equal to a 25-yard strike from Angel Di Maria, and while he spilled another long-range effort five minutes later from the same man, no PSG player was able to capitalise on the rebound.

Cavani, starved of space throughout the half, finally found room to meet a Di Maria free-kick on 33 minutes, but the cross struck his shoulder and the ball sailed over the bar.

PSG had vociferous appeals for a penalty waved away just before the break when Cavani appeared to be caught by Rolando as he attempted to latch onto a chipped through ball into the area.

Florian Thauvin's persistence carved out Marseille's first opportunity early in the second half, but Bafetimbi Gomis' effort from his cut-back across the area was blocked. But that early foray forward was no indication of a change of tactic from Marseille, and the visitors soon reverted to their well-drilled defensive work.

Thiago Motta and Maxwell combined well on 66 minutes to find Di Maria's well-timed burst into the box, but the Argentine winger speared his effort wide of Pele's near post.

PSG attempted to crank up the pressure in the later stages, as Cavani first found space to meet a free-kick into the box to connect cleanly with a header, but could only direct it over the bar, before being denied by a sliding challenge at the near post from Serge Aurier's cross.

Maxwell then should have done better when a loose ball fell kindly to him on the edge of the area on 80 minutes, but he dragged his left-footed effort wide of the post.

Cavani missed the game's best chance to sum up PSG's evening with just eight minutes to go, as a cross into the area evaded Pele and found the PSG forward two yards out from goal, only for him to remarkably divert the ball wide.

That allowed Marseille to breathe a collective sigh of relief as they clung on for a valuable point to begin Garcia's reign, despite failing to register a single shot on target.

Ronaldo has NEVER started a Real Madrid season this badly

    cristiano-ronaldo-real-madrid-athletic-bilbao-la-liga-23102016_ewzhwy2sng7f1g6wku8nyueun.jpg

Real Madrid may have scraped a victory over Athletic Club to regain their spot at the top of La Liga on Sunday, but all is not well with their star attraction.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been out of sorts since the beginning of the campaign, and has now officially registered his worst start to the season since joining the Spanish giants. The Portuguese forward has scored just two goals in his first six matches, his lowest tally so far at the club.

To compare, by this point in the 2014-15 campaign Ronaldo had already bagged an incredible 13, while last season he netted five times in his first six outings. He has also failed to score in his last four games at Santiago Bernabeu - another unenviable historical landmark.

Nor has he had much more luck with the ball at his feet, completing just three dribbles out of 15 in La Liga for a success rate of 20 percent.

Lionel Messi currently leads the Pichichi charts with seven goals in as many appearances so far, followed closely by Barca team-mate Luis Suarez.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, is currently competing with a less-heralded scorer - Barca defender Gerard Pique, who is tied in 34th with the star along with such famous poachers as Sergio Ramos, Hugo Mallo and Raul Garcia.

Ronaldo has 'goal addiction' - Morata

    cristianoronaldo-cropped_flbzj3he8jwe10obo6qrstubg.jpg

Alvaro Morata believes Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo is addicted to scoring goals after the star missed numerous chances against Athletic Bilbao.

Ronaldo was wasteful but was saved by Morata, who came off the bench on his 24th birthday to score an 83rd-minute winner in the 2-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Morata defended Ronaldo for his performance on Sunday, saying the Portugal captain was only human."When you're used to scoring almost 70 goals a season, it's almost like an addiction for goals," he said, via the club's website.

"For us he is the most important player in the team and I hope that he scores lots of goals, but he is not a machine."He is a human being, even if he comes from another planet and is different, he also has the right to miss."

Morata has two LaLiga goals in nine games, but only four of those appearances have been starts for Zinedine Zidane's men.Zidane has vowed to give the 24-year-old more game time and Morata said he was hungry to play more.

"Everyone wants to always play, in every possible game, but it's difficult. I feel important in the squad," he said."We've got 25 players and Zidane's job is hard to choose who'll play. A good problem.

"We are a team and are about winning together, which is what we have done. Zidane gave me a hug and congratulated me, and now we have to keep working."

Madrid tracking Dortmund boss Tuchel, claims Watzke

    thomastuchel-cropped_qrgqlqis57cy1c10vweqydikz.jpg

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke claims Real Madrid are tracking coach Thomas Tuchel, but insists he is not worried about losing the highly-rated German any time soon.

Tuchel's reputation continues to grow following an impressive first season at Westfalenstadion in 2015-16, guiding Dortmund to second in Bundesliga and a berth in the DFB-Pokal final as they returned to the Champions League.

The 43-year-old - out of contract in 2018 - has Dortmund challenging both domestically and in Europe again this season, which Watzke believes has alerted La Liga giants Madrid - who are also reportedly pursuing star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

"I have a good relationship with Real Madrid and I believe that they are tracking him [Tuchel]," Watzke told German TV channel ZDF.

"After the season Thomas had with us, Real have taken account of what a first-class coach we have."Florentino Perez [Madrid president] has not asked me about him yet. We are not worried about losing him if Madrid wanted him now. Thomas Tuchel has a contract with Dortmund.

"His situation is different to that of a player. A player at the age of 28 or 29 might only have three years in him and could ask us not to deny him such a move.Thomas is still a very young coach, he could still coach at whatever club he wants for 20 years or so."
