Manchester United have agreed to sign Everton striker

    romelu-lukaku-everton_lhw9h4ko42ch15lkxgvn916bx.jpg

Manchester United have agreed to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for £75 million while reportedly ending their interest in Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Lukaku had seemed destined to move to Chelsea this summer but United have swooped after the Blues struggled to make headway on a deal.

    Man Utd's Morata bid rejected

United boss Jose Mourinho is hopeful that the transfer of Lukaku will be completed in time for the Belgian to fly out with the first-team squad for the summer tour of the USA on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Reds have reportedly pulled out of negotiations with Real Madrid for 24-year-old Morata.

They had reached favourable terms with the player’s advisers but Goal reported on Wednesday that United’s final €80m offer had been rejected by the European champions, who value Morata at €90m.

Lukaku will be reunited with his former Chelsea boss Mourinho if the transfer is completed, although the 24-year-old only played three games under the Portuguese in 2013-14 before being sent on a season-long loan to Everton. He was then sold to the Toffees the following summer for £28m.

United have already added Benfica defender Victor Lindelof to their squad this summer but Lukaku’s signing for the second-largest fee in the club’s history would be their most high-profile move yet in 2017.

Barcelona's €20m Paulinho bid rejected by Chinese Super League club

    paulinho_h0yn0aagsxwy10cbjn43k55t6.jpg

Barcelona have had a €20 million bid for ex-Tottenham midfielder Paulinho rejected by Guangzhou Evergrande.

The Chinese Super League club released a statement on Thursday revealing the Spanish club had made a formal approach for the Brazilian but that they had no intention of selling.“Paulinho, having already renewed his contract in January 2017, is an important player for our club’s the long-term project,” Guangzhou Evergrande said.

“Therefore, our club have given a formal response to the Barcelona football club that we reject their bid for Paulinho, who is not in our transfer plan whatsoever.“We’d like to express our gratitude to Barcelona who have reserved a high degree of admiration for Paulinho.”

According to reports in China, Barcelona would look to pay the €20m fee for Paulinho in instalments, rather than all up front.

Evergrande, though, had no interest in discussing a deal of any kind and have made it clear that the 28-year-old is not on the market. They acquired the Brazil international from Tottenham in June 2015 for a reported £9.9m.Paulinho has been a success in China, netting 27 times in 89 appearances as his form has improved for club and country.

He revealed in June to Globo Esporte that he had been contacted by Barca regarding a possible return to Europe.Paulinho said: “There was contact with my agent, yes. There was an offer, yes, and this is all talking. But today I find myself at a very happy moment in my life and in my career.“When you meet at a time like this it is difficult for you to decide.”

Sanchez told he cannot get 'Messi and Ronaldo wages' at Arsenal

    alexis-sanchez-cropped_cry6cvxks82p15wzo4ef1d3fd.jpg

Alexis Sanchez is not going to get wages like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at Arsenal and a "painful" exit is looking likely, according to ex-Gunner Charlie Nicholas.

Chile international Sanchez has a year left on his contract and is being pursued by Manchester City, with his future still uncertain after playing in the Confederations Cup.

The 28-year-old said last week he has made a decision on his future, but is yet to reveal his intentions, leaving a concerned Nicholas feeling Arsenal must now consider allowing the forward to leave.Even though Nicholas hopes the club-record signing of Alexandre Lacazette will help, he fears Sanchez is angling for a move.

Asked if Lacazette's arrival could persuade Sanchez to stay, he told Sky Sports: "I genuinely don't think so. "I think Sanchez is completely and utterly his own man. We have seen that with his actions last season.

"He is a winner, a warrior, a fighter, a player we all truly admire and we'd love to keep him but if his heart is on trying to get the same wages as people like Messi and Ronaldo, it's not going to materialise."If they have to sell him it would be harsh, painful with only one year remaining but they may have to consider this.

"Sanchez is in control of the whole situation because the club have been so slow in reacting and sorting this out.

"I have genuinely got bad vibes about Sanchez. It just feels as if he is teasing and tormenting other people to make an offer that Arsenal might have to consider. I hope I am wrong in that."

Nonetheless, the signing of Lacazette, 26, for a reported £46 million fee has gone down well.Nicholas said: "It is a big statement of intent from Arsenal. The statement is to say to Sanchez and others we are serious to get back challenging for the title and we are serious about getting back into the Champions League again.

"He [Lacazette] is at a prime age now to look to hit the ground running at Arsenal. They should have tried to get him three years ago."He will want to try and improve on his own reputation. I really do think he is a perfect fit."

Iker Casillas has extended his stay at Porto for another season.

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas was out of contract with Porto, but announced his new deal on Thursday. He wrote on Twitter: "Very happy to continue for one more season with Porto! Looking forward to the challenges that arise!" The 36-year-old has spent the last two seasons with Porto after leaving Real Madrid, where he played his whole professional career until 2015.

He initially signed a two-year contract that contained the option for a third year, although the extra year was reportedly subject to negotiation over finances.
Casillas played 65 Primeira Liga games across the last two campaigns, in which Porto finished third and then second, with Benfica winning the title on each occasion.Benfica have won the league for four consecutive seasons, with Casillas yet to win a trophy since his move.

    Leicester sign Sevilla captain Iborra

    pablo-sarabia-vicente-iborra-osasuna-sevilla-laliga_ep12yqf5t8xc1qofjtkpgcxyx.jpg

Leicester City have completed the signing of Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra for a reported fee of £10.5 million.

The 29-year-old has signed a four-year deal at the King Power Stadium after he impressed Foxes manager Craig Shakespeare when the sides met in the Champions League last season.

Iborra captained Sevilla to a fourth-placed finish in La Liga last season, scoring seven goals in 31 league appearances under Jorge Sampaoli.

He becomes Leicester's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Harry Maguire from Hull City as the former champions look to improve on a 12th-placed finish in 2016-17.

“I’m very happy to be here with Leicester City and I’m looking forward to experiencing the Premier League with my new team-mates next season," he told the club's official website.

"Everything about this club seems good and it’s been great to meet my new team-mates. I’ve already spoken with them about the city and the club so I can’t wait to get started."

Shakespeare added: "I'm absolutely delighted that Vicente has joined us. He’s player with such a good pedigree from his time in Spain with Sevilla and he adds some really strong competition to our squad."Iborra will likely battle with Danny Drinkwater and Wilfred Ndidi for a place in the starting XI, while Andy King and Daniel Amartey are also available as midfield options.

Liverpool dealt Naby Keita blow as RB Leipzig insist 'nothing' will make them sell

    hd-naby-keita_uoavx4mdsus21delkx7d1w6xr.jpg

Liverpool have been dealt a fresh blow in their efforts to sign RB Leipzig central midfielder Naby Keita as the Bundesliga club have insisted they won't sell for any price.

The 22-year-old is highly-coveted by Jurgen Klopp after helping the German side finish second in the league last season, ahead of Borussia Dortmund but some way off Bayern Munich.Goal understands Liverpool will need to smash the Bundesliga transfer record (€75m/£66m) in an attempt to prise Keita away from RB Leipzig, but their public rhetoric has remained unyielding.

The Reds were expecting to need to fork out €80 million on the Guinean but RB Leipzig, who will enjoy Champions League football in 2017-18, have renewed their refusal to negotiate over the sales of their best players.

"We will definitely not be letting any key players go," RB Leipzig transfer chief Ralf Rangnick stated on Thursday at the unveiling of new signing Jean-Kevin Augustin. "There's nothing that will make us budge.

"It's totally normal for clubs to be interested in our players, but that doesn't affect our stance on the matter."RB Leipzig, who were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2016, are now one of Germany's wealthier clubs having received a huge amount of investment since being bought by Red Bull in 2009.

Liverpool are hoping to add a central midfielder, a left-back and a centre-back before the start of the Premier League season, with Klopp urging patience as the transfer market kicks into gear with pre-season matches lurking.

Roma winger Mohamed Salah and Chelsea attacker Dominic Solanke have so far been added to the Anfield ranks as the Reds look to build on 2016-17's fourth-placed finish.

England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract stand-off at Arsenal is also being monitored by Klopp, but he has been viewed as a bonus rather than a priority signing.

Juventus make €40m Bernardeschi bid as winger agrees terms

    bernardeschi-italy_1gv4fujzqrswz1qmk5u3il09xh.jpg

Juventus have made an opening bid of €40 million for Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi, with the player having already finalised personal terms.

Goal understands the Italy international - who has also been linked with Inter and Chelsea - has agreed a five-year deal with the Serie A champions worth €4m-a-year having made it clear that he wants to leave La Viola. His current deal in Florence runs until 2019, and Fiorentina are hopeful of securing a deal worth an initial €40m plus another €10m in add-ons for the 23-year-old.

Juve have also hinted that he would be offered the chance to wear the legendary No.10 shirt in Turin, which has previously adorned the likes of Michel Platini, Alessandro Del Piero and, most recently, Paul Pogba.Having broken into the Fiorentina side during the 2014-15 season, Bernardeschi has gone onto make 93 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals.

Such form saw him receive a first international call-up in March 2016 and he has since made nine appearances for the Azzurri, scoring his first goal during last month's victory over Liechtenstein.

Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri has been on the lookout for a natural wide player throughout the summer and Bernardeschi sits top of his list, with Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa as a potential alternative.

Should a deal be secured, it may not be the only business the two clubs do this summer, with Fiorentina keen on both Tomas Rincon and Stefano Sturaro.

Gimenez dreaming of Premier League move as Man Utd and Liverpool circle

    jose-maria-jimenez-atletico-madrid_1g5ks5cqfndgl1ubr6plbubto0.jpg

Jose Maria Gimenez has admitted that he harbours a “dream of playing in the Premier League” amid Manchester United and Liverpool links.

The Atletico Madrid defender is not looking to force a way out of the Spanish capital, but concedes that he would like to test himself in England. He has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and a £39.5 million release clause in his current deal.

Interest has been reported from Old Trafford and Anfield in the recent past, while Arsenal were said to be contemplating a move in the summer of 2016.

Gimenez told Uruguayan journalist Federico Buysan on his ambitions: "I dream of playing in the Premier League because all of the matches are fairly even."But if Atletico offer me a contract for life, I will stay."It remains to be seen what Atletico’s plans for Gimenez are, having restricted him to just 12 La Liga starts in the 2016-17 campaign.

He has been with the club since 2013, but has rarely been a regular on the team sheet.Despite that, the 22-year-old is grateful for the opportunities he has been given and for a platform on which to prove himself to other potential suitors. He added: "Atletico taught me a lot from the first day I arrived.

"I am privileged to be at the club."Pressed further on his future, with Serie A heavyweights Inter also reported to be in the mix, Gimenez said: “I am relaxed about the rumours about my future and I always speak with my representatives.”

Gimenez has seen United already add Victor Lindelof to their ranks this summer, but Liverpool remain in the market for a new centre-half and Inter are expected to be busy with another refresh of their squad at the San Siro.

Bayern considering keeping Costa amid Juventus links

    douglas-costa-bayern-munchen_1mi6ml3pxeqlkzu04qa073fe0.jpg

Bayern Munich may decide to keep winger Douglas Costa amid conflicting reports regarding Juventus’ ongoing interest, claims Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The Brazil international has generated plenty of transfer talk of late after finding himself stuck behind Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in the Allianz Arena pecking order.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness has previously suggested that a sale could be sanctioned if any suitor met the required asking price, with talk of €40 million valuations doing the rounds.

Rummenigge, though, believes Costa’s services could be retained, with Juve said to be cooling on a deal and Bayern eager to keep strength in depth within their ranks. He told Merkur: "We are not sure whether it would not perhaps be better for Costa to stay.

"I always found him an interesting player. All he has to do is reach the same level again that he was playing at during his first season with us."Costa joined Bayern in 2015 and netted seven times in 43 appearances during his debut campaign.

He was able to match that return last season, but started just 14 Bundesliga fixtures under Carlo Ancelotti.Added competition has also been drafted in for 2017-18, with Bayern completing a deal for former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry.

Costa has international aspirations to think about, with the World Cup just 12 months away, but Rummennige is confident the 26-year-old will not become a problematic presence if he is kept on and forced to fight for his place. He added: "Bayern's big advantage is there's a World Cup at the end of the season and every player wants to qualify for it.

"In that sort of situation no player becomes sloppy or creates a big fuss."Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City have also been linked with Costa in the recent past and could rejoin the hunt if Serie A champions Juve have decided to look elsewhere.

AC Milan confident of Donnarumma renewal after meeting with family

    gianluigi-donnarumma-milan_1tjkr7punlh0c18c0zxtkjeokn.jpg

AC Milan are confident about signing Gianluigi Donnarumma to a new contract after meeting with the goalkeeper's representatives and family, Goal understands.

Milan CEO Marco Fassone and sporting director Massimo Mirabelli sat down with agents Mino and Enzo Raiola and Donnarumma's parents at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Thursday in Milan, and both sides walked away from the meeting optimistic a deal will get done.

Fassone said on Tuesday that he felt the club was "very close" to agreeing a deal with Donnarumma, whose current contract expires at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

"I think that the part of the deal regarding the player and family is close, the other is more complicated," Fassone said, alluding to Mino Raiola's demands."It is a large package deal involving salary, benefits, clauses, a commission, possible clauses on future sales of the player."

The development comes just three weeks after Milan confirmed that Donnarumma had rejected a new contract, with the Italy international experiencing a change of heart over the last week.

Lukaku backed to fill Ibrahimovic void by Man Utd legend Hughes

    hd-romelu-lukaku-everton_4hn2fioy02p1aq8tuha7qw3j.jpg

Romelu Lukaku has been backed to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United by Mark Hughes.

The current Stoke boss knows all about the demands of representing the Red Devils, having taken in two spells at Old Trafford in his playing days.He later took in a stint at Everton, where Lukaku has impressed over the course of the last four seasons with 87 goals in 166 appearances.

Hughes believes the Belgium international is capable of transferring their form onto a grander stage with United as part of a £75 million move and can help Jose Mourinho cope with the loss of 2016-17 talisman Ibrahimovic.

The Welshman said on the Lukaku transfer saga: "It's been in the offing for a while it seems. There's been a lot of discussion in terms of which club he was going to go to.

"There's been a lot of talk about Chelsea but it looks like he's going to go to Manchester United. From the outside, it looks as though Everton have already been spending the money they're going to accumulate - it is a big chunk of money, you have to say.

"In fairness to the boy, for a number of years, he has been scoring regular goals at the top level of British football."Given that Manchester United have lost Zlatan, they clearly had to address that and they've gone for Lukaku."

Lukaku has refused to commit to fresh terms at Everton after stating his ambition to turn out in the Champions League and compete for major honours.United would offer him that platform on which to perform, and Hughes is convinced that the 24-year-old could handle the pressure. He added: "It will be a different challenge for him.

"Everton are a good club - I've played at both clubs. Everton are very much a family club, United - clearly since I left - it's gone on to become even bigger on the world stage and it's a huge entity now.

"Maybe he'll find a little bit of a difference in that but his day-to-day work will be similar and I'm sure he'll be a great success there."Lukaku joined Everton in 2014 on the back of a productive loan spell for £28 million.

He has enhanced his reputation since then, with a forgettable spell at Chelsea which saw him granted limited game time erased from the memory bank after becoming a proven Premier League and international performer.

    Clichy to join Istanbul Basaksehir

    gael-clichy-cropped_1j7838iu35oj11gqqzho8hajww.jpg

Former Manchester City and Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy has agreed to join Turkish Super Lig club Istanbul Basaksehir.

Clichy was released by City when his contract expired following the 2016-17 campaign, ending a six-year stay at the Etihad Stadium, during which time he won both the Premier League and EFL Cup on two occasions.

Basaksehir announced via their Twitter page that Clichy will undergo a medical and sign his contract on Friday.Details of the deal have not been disclosed, but reports in Turkey suggest the 31-year-old will pen a three-year deal worth €3million per season.

Clichy joins another ex-City and Arsenal man, Emmanuel Adebayor, in the Basaksehir squad, while former Turkey and Inter midfielder Emre Belozoglu is the club captain.
Playing under coach Abdullah Mucib Avci, Basaksehir secured a surprise second-place finish in the Super Lig last season to seal a spot in the third qualifying round for the Champions League.
