Aston Villa take Man Utd defender Tuanzebe on loan

Aston Villa have completed the loan signing of Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe, the club have confirmed. The versatile 20-year-old moves to Villa Park for the remainder of the season, having made just three appearances for Jose Mourinho's side this season.

Tuanzebe, who can play in both defence and midfield, has played just one Premier League minute in 2017-18 - in a 2-0 win over Everton in January - while he also played 18 minutes on the wing in United's Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow, along with the full 90 in the EFL Cup victory over Swansea City.

“I am delighted to be here," he told Villa's official website.
“It’s an exciting time at this football club and everyone is pushing for promotion – that’s the big aim, you can feel that here.“I am determined to help this club achieve its goal.” Villa are currently fourth in the Championship, 12 points behind leaders Wolves. They sit just three points behind second-placed Derby County, however.

Di Francesco questions Roma over potential Dzeko to Chelsea sale

Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco has questioned the reasoning behind the potential sale of Edin Dzeko to Chelsea, stating that he would need an explanation from the club if they were to allow their main striker to leave in the winter.

The Bosnian has been locked in talks with the Premier League outfit, with personal terms said to be holding up the finalisation of a switch to Stamford Bridge, while a deal for Giallorossi team-mate Emerson is looking close to completion.

Di Francesco appears to be none the wiser regarding his club's transfer business, however, with the Italian questioning the justification behind allowing a first-choice player to exit the club in January.

"What counts is the club," the coach told Sky Sport Italia, "My own hopes are relative. If they sell him, they will have valid reasons, which they will explain to me."Do I hate the market? That depends: if someone arrives, no; otherwise, yes.

"In the event that he leaves, we will do something else. Schick has the characteristics, together with Defrel, of being able to play in several roles in attack. "But it's still to early to talk about it."

For Di Francesco's part, the manager has no short or long-term intention of reducing the striker's game time despite uncertainty surrounding his future in the Italian capital.

"[Dzeko] made himself available for the game, despite the many rumours. He is a player who sometimes you can see little of, but then he appears," the 48-year-old said.

"It's a choice for the club, determined by many factors. As long as I have the player I will play him, because he has always shown me commitment, seriousness and professionalism.
"Dzeko is a decisive player and he's the one who scored the most goals for my team."The sooner the transfer market ends, the sooner we will find a Dzeko with more serenity."But for his part his availability is always the same."

:love:Yeovil Town 0 Manchester United 4: Debutant Sanchez helps visitors into round five

    489C546300000578-5317793-image-a-52_1516998192239.jpg

Alexis Sanchez was involved in the opening two goals on his Manchester United debut as they beat Yeovil Town 4-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday.

The 29-year-old, who completed his move from Arsenal on Monday, played a key part in Marcus Rashford's opener before setting up Ander Herrera to score the second at Huish Park.

Substitutes Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku added late goals to cap a solid performance from United, who have now won five games in a row in all competitions without conceding.

Manager Jose Mourinho had promised to play a strong side and a number of senior players were involved, with Sanchez joining Juan Mata and Rashford in attack and club captain Michael Carrick handed his first start since September.

Yeovil, who are 21st in England's fourth tier, acquitted themselves admirably for the first 40 minutes but were undone when Rashford capitalised on some uncertain defending after being set up by Sanchez.

United's control rarely relented from then on and Herrera finished a clinical move for the second goal on his 150th appearance for the club, with Sanchez claiming the assist.

The Red Devils' new number seven was taken off after 72 minutes, having taken a few knocks in a combative first outing for the club, before Lingard's fine run and finish and Lukaku's tap-in ensured United progressed comfortably to round five.

A bright start from Yeovil saw them create the first two chances of the match, Jordan Green shooting straight at Sergio Romero from a tight angle and Omar Sowunmi sending a tame header into the goalkeeper's gloves from a good position.

Sanchez, who was booed by a small section of the home fans from the start, looked eager to get involved from the off and set up Scott McTominay for United's first chance after 25 minutes, with Artur Krysiak making a good low save to his right.

Sanchez had two further efforts before the break, sending a free-kick into Krysiak's hands before dragging a shot wide following Mata's pass, but Yeovil were competing well to keep United to half-chances alone.

That was until the 41st minute, when some slack defending proved the home side's downfall. Rashford lost the ball just inside the penalty area but, as Tom James tried to shepherd the ball back to Krysiak, Rashford stole in behind him and side-footed into the net.

With the lead secured, United pushed for a key second goal early in the second half, Rashford seeing a shot deflected wide after a good run before Mata turned the resulting corner onto the top of the crossbar.

Yeovil responded by forcing a corner of their own but they were undone by a slick counter-attack from the visitors in the 61st minute. Mata released Sanchez down the left after United had cleared, the Chilean found Herrera just inside the penalty area, and the midfielder, who scored on this ground in a cup clash in 2015, drilled a left-foot shot across Krysiak and into the bottom-right corner.

Mata thought he had scored his side's third from Matteo Darmian's effort across goal but the offside flag denied him, before Rashford was thwarted by Krysiak, with Sanchez withdrawn shortly after pulling up with a knock.United controlled the closing stages and Lingard made certain of their place in the next round, cutting infield from the right before firing low into the left-hand corner past a static Krysiak.

Fellow substitute Lukaku put the seal on a happy 55th birthday for Mourinho in his 100th game in charge, steering Marcos Rojo's cross from the left high into the net with practically the last kick of the game.

Real Madrid misery continues as Ramos and Isco injuries are confirmed

Real Madrid's miserable week has been made worse by the news that captain Sergio Ramos and Isco have picked up injuries.

Centre-back Ramos has suffered a strain, plus a build-up of fluid that has caused a swelling, to his left calf muscle, while Isco has sustained an impingement to his left hip, according to statements released by Madrid.

Although the club refused to speculate on their recovery time frames, the players are expected at least to sit out Saturday's La Liga trip to Valencia. There are reports Ramos could be sidelined for up to two weeks. The news comes just two days after Madrid were dumped out of the Copa del Rey following a shock 2-1 loss to Leganes at the Santiago Bernabeu saw them lose the quarter-final tie on away goals.

Head coach Zinedine Zidane has admitted his job could be on the line, with leaders Barcelona 19 points ahead of them in the league table and a daunting Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon.

West Ham United have completed the loan signing of Inter midfielder Joao Mario. The 25-year-old Portugal international joins the Hammers until the end of the season and becomes David Moyes' first signing since taking over as manager.

Mario arrived at Inter for a fee of around £35 million in the summer of 2016 but failed to deliver the standard of performances displayed at previous club Sporting.

The midfielder arrived in London on Thursday to undergo a medical and finalise terms on a move to West Ham, with the transfer being announced on Friday.
Mario, who will take the number 18 shirt at the London Stadium, said: "I am really happy to be here."It’s a really amazing experience to join this amazing team and I am just glad to be here. It was a fast move.

"I have spoken with everyone around the team and, for me, it is exciting to play in the Premier League. I spoke with the coach and for me, I am really happy to be training for an amazing coach, also.”Mario joins countryman Jose Fonte at West Ham, both of whom played a part in Portugal winning the European Championship in 2016.

Upon the midfielder's loan move being revealed, Mario said that he had spoken to Fonte about the club and that his coversation was influential in agreeing a move.He added: "Jose explained to me a little more about the club and also the song we have, I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles, and that, of course, it was really important for me to join West Ham!

"It’s a really historic club with an amazing stadium and amazing players. I am just trying to know a little bit more about the club every day and now I have some time to know more.”

Dzeko's Chelsea move delayed by Roma's hunt for a replacement

Edin Dzeko remains Chelsea's prime striking target before the January transfer window closes, but a deal has been delayed by Roma.Chelsea have agreed many parts of the deal to sign the former Manchester City striker, but Roma are looking for a replacement before sanctioning the Bosnia-Herzegovina international’s transfer.

The Blues have alternatives to Dzeko, with Tottenham's Fernando Llorente and Arsenal's Olivier Giroud being considered as more ambitious targets for a January move.

The likes of Stoke's Peter Crouch and Burnley's Ashley Barnes are other options and the moves could now be delayed until deadline day on January 31.Arsenal will likely resist Chelsea's approach for Giroud due to club rivalry after already losing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United in the transfer window.

Llorente could be released by Tottenham in certain circumstances but that deal would be difficult to complete, despite Conte's long-standing admiration for his former player.

The delay in Dzeko's transfer has impacted upon two more players, with Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi's loan move away to Sevilla being delayed.Meanwhile, Dzeko’s team-mate Emerson Palmieri's £22 million move to Stamford Bridge has also been slowed down as Chelsea aim for a double deal for the Roma stars.

However, Chelsea remain confident that they can get their £50m swoop for Dzeko and Palmieri over the line as Roma need to sell in January.Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco will continue to play Dzeko due to the club's battle for a Champions League spot and has pushed for a suitable replacement for the 31-year-old.

Palmieri's deal is pretty much complete, but Dzeko's still needs agreement on a contract before it can be completed.

Perfect? Man City are nowhere near, says Guardiola

Pep Guardiola warned against the pursuit of perfection and insisted Manchester City will always have work to do to maintain squad harmony.Key trio Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi all committed to new deals at the Etihad Stadium this month, with City flying high at the Premier League summit.

A quadruple is still on the cards for Guardiola following the club's midweek progression to the EFL Cup final, but the City boss refuted the notion he was closing in on having the perfect squad.

"Otamendi, Fernandinho and De Bruyne have all extended their contracts and we are so, so happy that they are with us for the future. It is the best news of the past weeks," he said."[But] you are never near [perfection]. If you believe you are okay for the next three years it is a mistake.

"The players who aren't playing regularly accept their positions, but in future maybe next season they won't accept and they want to leave. "You always have to solve the situation year by year."Guardiola takes his side to Cardiff City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
