OFFICIAL: Man City complete Nolito signing

    3363532_heroa.jpg

Manchester City have completed the signing of Spain international Nolito from Celta Vigo in a deal worth £14 million.

The 29-year-old, who will wear the No.9 shirt last worn by Alvaro Negredo, has inked a four-year deal with the club to become Pep Guardiola's third summer signing as City manager following Ilkay Gundogan and Aaron Mooy.

Nolito, who had been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona over the past 12 months, visited City's training ground on Wednesday to put the finishing touches to the deal.

"I’ll try to bring as much as I possibly can," Nolito said. "I’ll do everything that the manager asks of me, try my absolute best and do everything I can to try to repeat the form I’ve shown throughout my career at various clubs. "It’s just about trying to play my normal game and let’s hope that I can help Manchester City to win games.

"I think that Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. He knows a lot about the game and he’s going to help me progress as a player and I’m sure he’ll get the best out of me."
City are now expected to step up their attempts to recruit Everton defender John Stones, having missed out on fellow centre-back target Aymeric Laporte after he extended his contract with Athletic Club.

The Spain international, who scored seven goals in 29 Premier League games last term, was initially given No.17 after arriving at the club from Barcelona. However, following the departure of loanee striker Alexandre Pato, Pedro has taken the opportunity to wear the number he often wears for La Roja.

Chelsea have offered free shirt exchanges to any fans who purchased Pedro's old shirt number.Meanwhile, Pato joins fellow loanee Radamel Falcao in departing the club as the summer transfer window opens.

Falcao's second temporary spell in the Premier League has been ended, with the striker returning to Monaco, while second-choice goalkeeper Marco Amelia's short-term deal has also not been extended.

Del Bosque: I notified the whole Spain squad of my departure, except for Casillas

Vicente Del Bosque has revealed he sent a message to every member of his Euro 2016 squad to notify them he was resigning as Spain boss, except for Iker Casillas.

Del Bosque announced on Thursday he would be stepping down from his role as coach after seeing Spain bow out of the European Championship last-16 stage against Italy.

And the 65-year-old, who won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 in an eight-year spell as Spain boss, has since revealed Casillas was the only member of his squad he didn't make aware of his departure.

Del Bosque has claimed his relationship with Casillas, who he has known since the goalkeeper was nine, deteriorated after he dropped him in favour of making David de Gea his new number one."With his team-mates he has been fine, correct, but with the coaching staff it is so so," Del Bosque told El Larguero.

"That is why the only player I did not send a message to has been Casillas. "He feels bad with me, but also with [physical trainer] Javier Minano or [assistant coach] Toni Grande. With everyone else he has been fine. The anger has been with us."

"For sure he is hurting or displeased with me and I understand that. He thinks we have done the wrong thing," added Del Bosque, who said the decision to play De Gea in goals was a feeling his body had. "But we have to be proud of a player who has 167 games with the national team. I don't believe three or four games will hurt his resume.

"Casillas hasn't disappointed me. I have a great appreciation for him. I have known him since he was nine years old."

:(Fonte: Man Utd will regret missing out on Sanches

Portugal defender Jose Fonte believes Manchester United will regret missing out on teen sensation Renato Sanches after his remarkable performance against Poland.

Sanches cancelled out Robert Lewandowski's opener in style in the Euro 2016 quarter-final clash, before stepping up to coolly slot home Portugal's second penalty in a 5-3 shoot-out win on Thursday.

The former Benfica star was heavily linked with United before Bayern Munich swooped to sign the 18-year-old for an initial fee of €35 million, which could potentially rise to €80m.

And Fonte insists that United could come to regret their failure to acquire the teenager."Being a Premier League player, for me, they missed out on a very good talent," Fonte said.

"He's a nice kid, he listens to the old guys, he wants to learn, which is good. It's great to have him around and he'll be the future of the national side for sure."He's got no fear. He just doesn't care. He goes and asks for the ball every second.

"He's got power and strength, energy to run all day and great ability. It is lucky for Bayern Munich that they have him."

OFFICIAL: Palace complete £13m Townsend signing

    androstownsend-cropped_9ohgojgr4ncc1002vimhok3y6.jpg

Crystal Palace have announced the signing of Andros Townsend from Newcastle United on a five-year contract for a fee of £13million after meeting the winger's buy-out clause.Townsend joined Newcastle from Tottenham in January, scoring four times in 13 appearances as the club suffered relegation from the Premier League.

The 24-year-old was named in Roy Hodgson's preliminary England squad for Euro 2016, but was left out of the final party for the competition in France.

Townsend will continue his top-flight exploits at Palace and is excited to begin a new chapter in his career.

"I'm extremely delighted. I had chats with the manager and chairman before I signed and I'm pleased to a part of Crystal Palace's future," said Townsend."By the sounds of things it's going to be a bright one and I can't wait to get started."Chairman Steve Parish added: "It's fantastic that we've managed to get a player of Andros' quality into the club.

"He has played in the Premier League for a number of years and represented England on many occasions and yet he's still only 24 years old."Andros is another exciting attacking talent that we have added to our ranks and I can't wait to see him in a red and blue shirt in the very near future."

Going in the other direction, Dwight Gayle has joined Newcastle from Palace, also on a five-year deal, at the cost of £10m.

Gayle made just eight Premier League starts for the London club last season after falling out of favour, but he is keen to prove himself at St James' Park."It's a dream come true to be at a big club like this," the 25-year-old said."Newcastle has a massive fan base and a great history so it is amazing to be here."I can't wait to get started, prove myself and score the goals that take us back up to the Premier League. It's where this club belongs."

Ibrahimovic arrival will make Manchester the 'capital of football' - Vieira

    ibrahimovic-cropped_gs9wiutz0eyh1eeyokdgiqiuy.jpg

Manchester is set to become the "capital of football" after Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced he has decided to join Manchester United, according to Patrick Vieira.
Ibrahimovic took to Instagram on Thursday to confirm he is heading to Old Trafford, though United are yet to confirm the deal.

The 34-year-old, who retired from international football after Sweden's Euro 2016 exit this summer, is a free agent following the expiration of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.

Ibrahimovic is set to become just the latest big-name arrival in Manchester in what is turning out to be a star-studded list ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season.

City and United have appointed Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho as their new managers respectively, while the high-profile captures of Ilkay Gundogan and Eric Bailly have since followed.

And Vieira, who played alongside Ibrahimovic at Inter, says the striker's imminent switch to the Red Devils will lead to all eyes being fixed on the north west city.

"He is a good friend of mine and we spent time together at Juventus and at Inter," Vieira said."We are still in touch once in a while and we have massive respect for each other."What I really like about him is his character - he is a winner, a guy who can drive the team because of his character and that is a very good signing for Manchester United.

"I spoke to him this morning - he said that he decided to go to United and he believes that is a very good decision for him. Of course I will wish him good luck and I will be following him.

"Look at the two managers in Manchester; look at Ibrahimovic; [Sergio] Aguero on one side, [David] Silva, [Wayne] Rooney. I think Manchester is the capital of football."

West Ham poised to sign Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher

    3242612_heroa.jpg

West Ham are poised to sign Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United after the striker rejected a new contract at Old Trafford, Goal understands.

The Hammers are still looking to sign a marquee forward this summer, but are set to land the 20-year-old after he opted to call time on his stay with the 20-time league champions.

Fletcher will undergo a medical in the coming days after West Ham met the youngster’s contractual demands – it has been reported that he will earn £7,000-per-week at the Olympic Stadium – but there remains doubt over whether the marksman will be installed into the first-team, or be loaned out for the new season.
Fletcher's current deal expires this summer and he will join West Ham on a free transfer, though United will be due a compensation fee after he came through the club's academy.

United signed Fletcher from Bolton when he was just 13, but he has failed to make the breakthrough into the senior setup, and will end his Red Devils career without a single first-team appearance to his name.

However, Fletcher scored nine goals in 26 games while on loan at League One side Barnsley last season, helping them secure promotion to Championship via the play-offs, prompting manager Paul Heckingbottom to compare him to United and England star Marcus Rashford."I don't know the pecking order there, but if he wasn't here he could have been making his debut instead of Rashford," Heckingbottom said in May.

"I think he will get better and better. United will have seen his progression and they'll know he has the attributes to get better."Elsewhere, West Ham will allow Darren Randolph to leave the club should they receive an acceptable bid.

Sources have confirmed that the Republic of Ireland international – who enjoyed a superb Euro 2016 – is valued at around £3 million.

Manchester City have released veteran duo Martin Demichelis and Richard Wright after their contracts came to an end.

Argentina international Demichelis was brought to the club in 2013 by Manuel Pellegrini, who he had played under at former club Malaga. In his first season at the Etihad Stadium, he helped City to win the Premier League and the League Cup, making 35 appearances in all competitions.

However, subsequent campaigns were less fruitful, with just one further trophy in two years, and Demichelis found first-team action hard to come by due to the signings of Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala.

Wright, meanwhile, has now announced his retirement, having never made an appearance for City in a four-year spell. The 38-year-old collected two England caps earlier in his career, and had spells with Ipswich Town, Arsenal and Everton.

"Everybody at Manchester City wishes Martin and Richard the very best for the future and thank them for their service," read a statement on City's website.

Everton have completed the signing of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg on a three-year deal from Fulham.Stekelenburg becomes the first signing since Dutch compatriot Ronald Koeman replaced Roberto Martinez as manager last month.

Zlatan: Me at Man Utd is like Mayweather vs Pacquiao

    zlatan-ibrahimovic-manchester-united_l0cdvnizuwms14mpck31vs9p1.jpg

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has compared his Manchester United transfer to last year’s Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao fight, saying: “They said it would never happen, but it happened.”

The 34-year-old Swede was confirmed as a new signing by the Old Trafford giants on Friday, and in his first interview he admitted that it was a simple decision to join the 20-time English champions. And he added that his arrival provoked as much anticipation as the world welterweight title in 2015 which had the sporting world hooked.

“I’m super excited. I’m super super happy. Finally it’s done! But now we start, now the hard work starts,” he told MUTV.“My decision was pretty easy. I compare it with Mayweather-Pacquiao fight: they said it would never happen, but it happened.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star, who announced his retirement from international football this summer, insisted that he and new boss Jose Mourinho will always remain winners. The two worked together at Inter in 2008-09, and Zlatan is delighted to link up with the Portuguese again.

“I have great memories, the only regret I had with Jose is that I had a short time with him. We had one season, but we won together,” he continued.“He’s a winner, I’m a winner. We know what we want, and wherever we go we will win.”

He added that not playing in the Champions League next season is of no concern following United’s fifth-place finish last term under Louis van Gaal.

“Wherever I came I won, and I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my life. I know what I want, I come to win, but behind everything is hard work.

“I come to win, I don’t come to waste time, I don’t come to look at the weather. I come to win, and that is my objective. We play for the UEFA Europa League, but in everything we play to win. We will do all the things we need to do to reach our main goal.

“Now I breathe out because everything is done after all the talk, after all the speculation. Now I am a Man United player, I am the happiest player in the world.”
