Ibrahimovic does not have to go to Manchester United - agent Raiola

    3227292_heroa.jpg

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's next club has not been decided despite interest from Manchester United, the player's agent Mino Raiola says. The 34-year-old is a free agent after his Paris Saint-Germain contract ended, with Sweden's captain now preparing to lead his team to Euro 2016.

Goal understands the Red Devils are ready to make a huge offer to the striker who they are keen to lure to Old Trafford but Raiola says his future has not been decided.

"Does it have to be United that Zlatan goes to? Will the whole of Sweden not sleep if it does not happen?" Raiola told Expressen."We have yet to decide, it'll be a surprise in the end. Everyone talks about United, which is why I don't talk to journalists a lot.

"There are clubs in England and Europe, some outside of Europe, but everyone thinks he must go to Manchester United. It's not true."

Raiola added that there is no rush for Ibrahimovic, who won the Serie A title with Mourinho at Inter, to sign a contract at another club."We're not in a hurry. I only care about securing something of quality," the agent said. "We'll see what happens, we have a good time ahead of us now.

"The only thing I can guarantee is that he will not quit. But where he will play next season, I can not say anything about."Zlatan Ibrahimovic is King and the club that buys him do not have to pay a transfer fee.

"This means that Ibrahimovic, who just finished a record season at PSG, can get an extra high salary. He is in a good bargaining position."

Henderson pays tribute to fearless Rashford

    marcus-rashford-england_lfwke39q8agz1snu667oj6yrd.jpg

England midfielder Jordan Henderson hailed Marcus Rashford's fearlessness after the young striker marked his senior debut with a goal in the 2-1 win over Australia.

Rashford scored inside the first three minutes at the Stadium of Light to continue a remarkable run of form in 2016, in which he also scored on his Europa League and Premier League debuts for Manchester United.

With concerns over a calf problem for Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge, Rashford's performance has boosted his chances of making Roy Hodgson's final 23-man squad to travel to France for Euro 2016 next month.

And Sturridge's Liverpool team-mate Henderson, who completed 90 minutes for the first time since recovering from a knee injury, is confident Rashford wouldn't buckle under the pressure of performing on one of the biggest stages in international football if he was to be included by Hodgson.

"It's incredible, really, isn't it?" he told ITV after the match, which was decided by a fine Wayne Rooney strike. "It's just the season he's been having. He's got no fear, wants the ball all the time and runs in behind, and it's a great finish.

"He's done everything. Good on the ball, good movement, his finishing is good. He just needs to continue to work and I'm sure he'll be a big player for United and England."He made an impact on his debut so I don't think he'll fear anything. If he's given the opportunity I'm sure he'll do very well."

Henderson was disappointed with England's first-half display in particular against Ange Postecoglu's side and concedes there are concerns to address before their final warm-up match with Portugal on June 2."It was a tough 90, there's a lot of things I can do better, but it's my first start for a long time," added the Liverpool captain.

"We were disappointed at half-time, we didn't dominate as we wanted. There's one or two things we need to work on."

Ramos 'just as hungry as before' ahead of Atletico showdown

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos says victory in the Champions League final two years ago does not make him any less determined to triumph again on Saturday.Zinedine Zidane's side meet city rivals Atletico Madrid at the San Siro in a repeat of the 2014 showdown in Lisbon, which Real won 4-1 after extra-time.

Ramos headed in a crucial equaliser in second-half stoppage time to deny Atletico victory in that encounter, before goals from Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo ultimately secured Real's 10th European title. And the Spain international says he is as motivated as ever to see off their old enemy and end Zidane's first five months in charge with a trophy.

"After that experience [in Lisbon] I don't think we need to change anything at all," he said. "I'm very motivated and anxious to start the game and we'll see what happens.

"I don't know if things are written or not but what happened, happened. I have wonderful memories and if I could make a film I would make it exactly as it happened."But I'm facing this one as if I've never been in one before. I'm just as hungry as before and just as willing to win.

"It would be silly of me to tell you what we've been working on! We know what Zizou is asking of us and now we have to do it. We need to suffer as a team, as we have done these past few months and we trust things will work out well for us."

Ramos admits Atletico will be motivated by a desire for revenge, but he does not believe that Diego Simeone's side will feel under more pressure due to that defeat at Estadio da Luz."I don't think so," he added. "When you play a final like that one, they'll have a bad taste in their mouth when they recall that game, but you need to keep competing.

"I don't know if they're feeling this but the pressure exists when there's a final, whether you've won the previous one or not. You need to manage it as best you can. It's not that we want it less, we want to win again and continue adding trophies to our club.

"It's cost them a lot to reach the final and we've also suffered a lot. But we're one step from being at the very top."If you have one lack of concentration in the game you can lose it, but that's in general not just against Atletico. Everyone needs their full sense because you can lose the game.

"I don't think it will be a failure not to win the title, but it would be a lost opportunity because it's tough to reach the Champions League final. We've worked hard together and would really like that reward to win the trophy."

Uruguay 3-1 Trinidad and Tobago: Cavani double inspires home side

    edinsoncavani-cropped_1eqvge3pwyxha1j6h4o4rzv3pv.jpg

A first-half brace from Edinson Cavani lifted Uruguay to a 3-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago in their international friendly in Montevideo on Friday.

In the absence of injured Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, Cavani scored once from the penalty spot and another from close range to inspire Uruguay to victory in the Copa America Centenario warmup clash at Estadio Centenario.

The brace also meant the Paris Saint-Germain striker - fresh off winning another domestic treble in France - moved above Hector Scarone into third in the all-time scorers list for Uruguay with 32 goals from 81 appearances.

Fiorentina midfielder Matias Vecino rounded off the result early in the second half, after Uruguay was forced to come from behind following Jomal Williams' early opener for Trinidad and Tobago.

The contest was Uruguay's only warmup game for the upcoming Copa America Centenario in the United States, where the side will face Mexico, Venezuela and Jamaica in Group C.

Uruguay came out of the blocks firing and took the lead inside just two minutes courtesy of a superb Carlos Sanchez strike, but the Monterrey winger - who missed his side's Liga MX final to play in the friendly fixture - was incorrectly ruled offside. However, Trinidad and Tobago tmanaged to take a surprise lead just five minutes later.

Shahdon Winchester won a challenge against Mauricio Victorino, and the forward played in Williams whose first-time shot was clinical, beating goalkeeper Martin Silva.

The goal rattled the home side, and it was not until the 25th minute that Uruguay found a way back into the game when Nicolas Lodeiro intercepted Sanchez's curling shot, before winning a penalty following Weslie John's foul in the area.
Cavani stood up to dispatch the spot kick in emphatic fashion, smashing it straight down the middle of the goal.

Sanchez came close to scoring directly from a corner, but Trinidad and Tobago keeper Marvin Phillip produced a brilliant save to deny the embarrassment. However, just six minutes later, his good work came undone as Cavani was on hand to slot home a rebound after Phillip mistimed his attempt to punch the ball clear.

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez decided to make three changes at the break, taking off the attacking trio of Cavani, Lodeiro and Sanchez for Cristhian Stuani, Gaston Ramirez and Matias Corujo.

Bordeaux forward Diego Rolan remained on the pitch and the 23-year-old set up Matias Vecino for his first international goal and Uruguay's third in the 52nd minute with a close-range tap in.

Uruguay continued to threaten throughout the second half and launched several dangerous attacks, with Ramirez going closest with a brilliantly executed volley, but the Trinidad and Tobago defense held firm to keep the score line at a respectable margin.

South American giant Uruguay opens its Copa America campaign against Mexico on June 5, before facing Venezuela (June 9) and Jamaica (June 13) as the side searches for a record 16th title.

Chile 1-2 Jamaica: Copa champion suffers shock loss

    alexissanchez-cropped_114yeh3dmou5c1dh9mqrl4wn20.jpg

Jamaica stunned Chile 2-1 in their pre-Copa America Centenario friendly in Vina del Mar on Friday.Juan Antonio Pizzi's Chile, which is looking to defend its Copa title in the United States, had chances but was punished at the Estadio Sausalito.

Clayton Donaldson's first-half opener and Joel Grant's goal after the break sealed the win for Winfried Schafer's men before Nicolas Castillo needed some luck to pull a late one back with his first international goal.

Chile had numerous opportunities, particularly before going 2-0 down, but was left to rue the misses at home. The side gets another chance to find form with a clash against Mexico on Wednesday, just days before a tough Copa opener with Argentina.

Jamaica, meanwhile, will carry its winning form into its Group C clash against Venezuela on June 5.A lively opening led to chances at both ends as Eduardo Vargas fired wide from range before Jamaica should have taken a third-minute lead.

Garath McCleary ran at the Chile defense down the right before squaring for Giles Barnes, who missed a glorious chance from the middle of the penalty area. After the home side went close from a corner in the 12th minute, Jamaica was perhaps unlucky not to win a penalty at the other end.

Donaldson appeared to be brought down by goalkeeper Johnny Herrera, but no spot kick was awarded.Jamaica took the lead in the 36th minute through Donaldson, as the dangerous McCleary cut back for the Birmingham City striker to poke in from close range.

Alexis Sanchez had a free kick tipped over and Gary Medel a brilliant overhead kick cleared off the line as Chile pushed for an equalizer.Jean Beausejour curled an effort wide just before the break as Jamaica took a one-goal advantage into halftime.

Beausejour pushed a shot wide in the opening minute of the second half before Mauricio Isla went close with a volley.

The home side was dominant after the interval and Mauricio Pinilla almost leveled, only for his header to be kept out by a strong save by substitute keeper Duwayne Kerr.Chile would be punished for its profligacy as Barnes' cross from the right was headed in by Grant in the 53rd minute.

Medel poked wide and Sanchez missed the target from 25 yards before the latter set up substitute Edson Puch, who somehow volleyed wide from an angle as Chile's chances continued to flow.

Jamaica somehow scrambled two Chile chances clear before the home side finally scored, with Kemar Lawrence clearing a ball straight into Castillo, but the visiting side held on.

Argentina 1-0 Honduras: Higuain scores stunner as Messi hobbles off

    gonzalohiguain-cropped_ejsz2bxzxo351vz55fkeeinx4.jpg

Gonzalo Higuain continued his goal-scoring form to inspire Argentina to a 1-0 win over Honduras, but the Copa America Centenario warmup fixture was overshadowed by an injury to captain Lionel Messi.

After breaking a 66-year-old Serie A record with 36 league goals for Napoli in 2015-16, in-form striker Higuain was at it again in the first half as Argentina completed its preparations for next week's Copa America in the United States with a sixth consecutive match without defeat.Higuain made it seven goals in four games for club and country with a sublime chip just past the half-hour mark in San Juan on Friday.

However, Argentina was left sweating on the fitness of Messi ahead of its opening Copa America fixture against defending champion Chile on June 6 after the Barcelona star suffered an apparent back or kidney injury.

Messi copped a knock to the lower-back area after the hour-mark and received treatment on the ground before he was withdrawn minutes later as he hobbled back to the bench in pain.

In Argentina's first game since March's World Cup qualifying win over Bolivia and the only warmup fixture before the Copa America gets underway next week, the South American giant dusted off the cobwebs to control proceedings and was rarely troubled by Honduras.

With Messi pulling the strings from the outset, Argentina had Honduras on the back foot and was a constant threat in attack.

Argentina almost took a 27th-minute lead via Nicolas Otamendi but the Manchester City center back's volley from Angel di Maria's corner flashed just wide of the post. The Argentinians, though, eventually took the lead they deserved thanks to a moment of brilliance from Higuain.

Higuain turned his opponent inside-out with a nutmeg through the defender's legs before scoring with a sublime chip over onrushing Honduras goalkeeper Donis Escober.

It should have been 2-0 for Argentina at halftime but Marcos Rojo - unmarked at the back post - saw his shot somehow saved on the line, six minutes shy of the break.

After Messi was withdrawn just past the hour-mark as a precaution, Argentina had a golden opportunity to double the lead. However, Escober was up to the task again, denying second-half substitute Sergio Aguero from close range in the 69th minute before teammate Gabriel Mercado hit the post.

Ever Benga - fresh from helping Sevilla to a third consecutive Europa League crown - tried his luck from distance and almost put the result beyond doubt with eight minutes remaining but Escober made a fingertip save.

Messi avoids serious injury ahead of Copa America opener

    lionelmessi-cropped_te1n975rvfzr1f2nc81652wx4.jpg

Lionel Messi has been cleared of serious injury after hurting his ribs and back in Argentina's final Copa America Centenario warmup fixture on Friday.

Messi hobbled off the pitch in pain just after the hour mark in Argentina's 1-0 win over Honduras in San Juan, with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) later confirming the captain suffered rib and back contusions.

The 28-year-old was visibly distressed after copping a knock to the lower-back area and receiving treatment on the ground before being substituted.

However, the AFA gave no indication on a recovery time ahead of Argentina's Copa opener against defending champion Chile on June 6.Prior to Messi undergoing CT scans at a local hospital, Argentina coach Gerardo Martino admitted he was concerned about Messi.

"Messi had a nasty blow to the lower back and we are doing studies," Martino said post match. "I cannot give a diagnosis, it was very sore. He had a heavy blow. "I have to wait for the diagnosis to give details, but we are always concerned about Leo."

After facing Chile, last year's runner-up Argentina takes on Panama (June 10) and Bolivia (June 14) in Group D.
