:love:Manchester United 2 Swansea City 0: Lukaku joins Premier League 100 club

    4AB7F87E00000578-5565107-Lukaku_was_quickly_mobbed_by_his_team_mates_after_scoring_for_Un-a-18_1522509475428.jpg

Romelu Lukaku's 100th Premier League goal helped Manchester United to a 2-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday. The Belgium international's milestone effort, followed by an Alexis Sanchez strike, were enough to seal all three points at Old Trafford and move United back above Liverpool into second place in the table.

Swansea had only lost on two of their previous five visits to United in all competitions, but they never recovered from Lukaku's fifth-minute opener, as Jose Mourinho's side, for whom Paul Pogba was restored to the starting line-up, produced a largely commanding performance to claim their fourth league victory in a row.

Sanchez, whose last goal came in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in February, deservedly doubled the lead after 20 minutes of arguably his best performance in a United shirt.

Carlos Carvalhal's visitors improved after the break, with David de Gea making fine saves to keep out Tammy Abraham efforts, but they rarely looked likely to snatch a draw that would have lifted them four points clear of the relegation zone.United's win takes them two points above Liverpool, having played a game less, and back to within 13 of league leaders Manchester City ahead of their trip to Everton.

United were rewarded for a bold start with just five minutes played. Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Sanchez combined to tee up Lukaku 12 yards out, whose shot deflected off Alfie Mawson and flew high into the net.The home side looked in authoritative mood, with Lukasz Fabianski denying Lukaku a second, but they had only to wait until the 20th minute to double their lead, with Sanchez rifling into the bottom-left corner after Lingard's pass split Swansea's haphazard defence.

Sanchez celebrated with gusto and, like his team-mates, looked to be enjoying himself against a Swansea side who failed even to muster a shot in a dismal first half, with only the offside flag denying United a third through Lingard before the interval.

United missed two clear opportunities early in the second half for a third goal, with Sanchez nodding onto the roof of the net and Juan Mata volleying Pogba's fine pass, but De Gea was called into action twice in quick succession to deny substitute Abraham.

Lukaku spurned a great chance for his second, chesting down in the box before shooting straight at Fabianski, but Mourinho will have been pleased enough with his side's performance ahead of next weekend's showdown with City at the Etihad Stadium, where they will look to postpone Pep Guardiola's title celebrations.

Crystal Palace 1 Liverpool 2: Salah marks Klopp milestone with late winner

    4AB78FA300000578-0-Liverpool_star_Mohamed_Salah_celebrates_after_his_late_goal_comp-m-101_1522502457213.jpg

Mohamed Salah struck a late winner as Jurgen Klopp marked his 100th game in charge of Liverpool with a 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Crystal Palace. The Egyptian scored his 29th goal of a hugely impressive debut season in England, his 84th-minute finish completing Liverpool's turnaround at Selhurst Park.

Luka Milivojevic converted a13th-minute penalty to give the hosts a half-time lead after Loris Karius' decision to rush out and confront Wilfried Zaha had resulted in a blatant foul on the Palace player. However, Sadio Mane equalised four minutes after the break to draw Liverpool level, steering home James Milner’s low cross from the left.

The goal was the highlight of an eventful game for the Senegal international, who had a first-half effort chalked off, was booked for diving before the break and then somehow avoided seeing a second yellow card for deliberate handball.Salah sealed the comeback with a composed finish, controlling the ball neatly before prodding beyond Wayne Hennessey to lift Liverpool up to second in the table.

The visitors had started brightly too, controlling the opening stages only to fall behind when Zaha’s clever burst in behind Trent Alexander-Arnold led to Karius conceding a penalty.

The Palace winger had already caught out the teenage full-back in the opening minutes with a similar run in behind, only for Liverpool’s goalkeeper to block his attempt with his chest.

Karius wasn’t required when the two faced each other for a second time soon after, but his late arrival saw him spectacularly take out Zaha and gift spot-kick specialist Milivojevic the chance to break the deadlock.Liverpool’s attempts to respond prior to the break centred around Mane, with the forward seeing a close-range header rightly ruled out for offside.

He inadvertently helped the hosts by diverting Virgil van Dijk’s on-target header wide of the target before picking up a booking for simulation, his theatrical fall following a tackle by James McArthur failing to fool referee Neil Swarbrick.

Yet a switch of ends resulted in a change of fortunes for Mane and Liverpool, who lost second-half substitute Adam Lallana to injury just 324 seconds after his arrival off the bench.James Milner sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka a dummy to create space for a low cross that left his team-mate needing to just apply the finishing touch from close range.

Benteke failed to take two glorious chances to put Palace back in front, first lobbing wide with only Karius to beat before spooning over Andros Townsend's pass, and Salah made the Belgian pay for his profligacy.

The winger showed great composure to tuck home Andrew Robertson’s cross from the left, his 37th goal in all competitions securing a morale-boosting result ahead of the mouth-watering Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City in midweek.

Las Palmas 0 Real Madrid 3: Benzema scores on 400th appearance

    4AB9AE5700000578-5565277-image-m-31_1522518487525.jpg

Karim Benzema scored on his 400th Real Madrid appearance and Gareth Bale celebrated a brace as Zinedine Zidane's side warmed up for their Champions League quarter-final with Juventus by beating Las Palmas 3-0 in LaLiga.Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos and Marcelo were all rested by Zidane with an eye on Tuesday's first leg in Turin, but Madrid showed no signs of missing their star men at the Estadio de Gran Canaria on Saturday.

Bale put Madrid on track in the 26th minute by running on to a tremendous throughball from Luka Modric and thumping a drive past home goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola.Benzema struck from 12 yards after Jonathan Calleri brought down Lucas Vazquez in the penalty area and Bale added his 10th club goal of 2018 in all competitions with another spot-kick.

A fourth successive league win moves Madrid within a point of second-placed city rivals Atletico Madrid, who host Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday, but the champions' main focus is on winning a third straight Champions League crown with Barcelona well clear at the top.

Captain Sergio Ramos missed the game with a knock and Nacho Fernandez added to Zidane's defensive injury problems by limping off in the first half, the Spain international left in tears on the bench after appearing to damage his ankle.

Calleri fired a fifth-minute warning shot but his rifled effort flew narrowly wide and Keylor Navas had to dive to his left to push away Alen Halilovic's strike as Las Palmas started well.

Chichizola denied Benzema after the striker ignored the well-placed Vazquez, before the goalkeeper then superbly turned Marco Asensio's shot around the post.
Home goalkeeper Chichizola could do nothing as Madrid took the lead in the 26th minute, though.

Modric's pass sent Bale scampering down the left wing, beating the offside trap, and Wales' newly crowned record goalscorer smashed home a powerful finish.Madrid's second followed from the penalty spot as Calleri was penalised for a clumsy foul on Vazquez, with Benzema ensuring he celebrated his landmark appearance with a goal by sending Chichizola the wrong way with his spot-kick.

Madrid added to their lead in the 51st minute, Bale coolly converting his side's second penalty of the game after he was caught in the process of shooting by Ximo Navarro.Benzema unselfishly tried to set his team-mate up for a hat-trick but over hit a simple pass, Alejandro Galvez able to get back and clear Bale's effort from a tight angle off the line, then the striker fired straight at Chichizola from eight yards out when it looked easier to score.

Erik Exposito had a chance to get Las Palmas on the scoresheet but shot wildly over the crossbar after pressing a nervy Navas into a mistake, while Momo saw his header clip the crossbar and Halilovic wasted another opportunity for Paco Jemez's side.

The former Rayo Vallecano coach has now lost on all nine of his meetings with Madrid, who understandably eased off in the closing stages, with attention turning to Turin and Juventus, and Zidane's only concern will be over the extent of Nacho's injury.

Bayern Munich 6 Borussia Dortmund 0: Lewandowski nets three as Bundesliga leaders run riot

    4AB9B4D900000578-0-image-a-62_1522519565885.jpg

Bayern Munich's incredible first-half display made light work of Borussia Dortmund as the runaway Bundesliga leaders cruised to a remarkable 6-0 win in Der Klassiker thanks to a hat-trick from Robert Lewandowski against his former club.

Despite their chance to claim a sixth straight Bundesliga title being temporarily put on hold due to Schalke's victory over Freiburg earlier in the day, Bayern wasted no time in dismantling their arch-rivals with an awe-inspiring performance in the opening 45 minutes.

Jupp Heynckes' side, who can be crowned champions against Augsburg next time out, were 3-0 up inside 23 minutes - Thomas Muller, who had teed up Lewandowski to open the scoring, applying the finishing touch to a terrific cross from James Rodriguez, who had netted Bayern's second Franck Ribery had a goal ruled out shortly before James' goal and played a crucial part when he combined with Lewandowski to bundle in another on 44 minutes.

Ribery got himself a goal in first-half stoppage time, though, prodding home a powerful strike, with Mario Gotze's second-half effort against the post the closest Dortmund came to a consolation before Lewandowski completed the rout in the 87th minute.

While Peter Stoger will reflect on his unbeaten run as Dortmund boss in the Bundesliga coming to an end in the most humiliating fashion, Heynckes will now switch attention to Bayern's Champions League quarter-final tie with Sevilla.

Muller looked sharp from the off, and the forward hooked wide with an acrobatic attempt inside three minutes.Bayern were in front two minutes later, though - Muller turning provider with a brilliant throughball in behind Dortmund's line and Lewandowski, having timed his run to perfection, duly slotted home.Ribery thought he had doubled Bayern's tally moments later, only for VAR to adjudge the Frenchman had strayed offside before latching onto James' flick.

Heynckes' side were not to be denied a second from their next attack, however - James on hand to thump in his fifth goal of the season from David Alaba's cut-back.Bayern did not let up and Muller soon got in on the act, cushioning a close-range finish over Roman Burki at the end of a wonderful counter-attack.

It soon went from bad to worse for Stoger's side as Ribery charged his way into the area and, despite seeing Burki save his effort, the winger was on hand, along with Lewandowski, to force the rebound over the line. There was no doubt over the fifth goal, however, as Ribery latched onto James' throughball before planting a superb finish high into the net.

Bayern's domination continued following the restart, though Dortmund managed to stem the tide until Arjen Robben saw a close-range strike saved by Burki on the hour.Ribery's temper threatened to get the better of him when he clashed with Julian Weigl soon after, though both players escaped with a booking.Former Bayern playmaker Gotze finally managed Dortmund's first meaningful attempt on goal on 67 minutes - his low strike rattling the left-hand upright.

Lewandowski had the final say, however, nudging home from close range to complete his hat-trick with three minutes remaining and inflict further humiliation on the visitors.

Everton 1 Manchester City 3: Guardiola's men one win away from title

    4AB97CF900000578-0-image-a-23_1522518661094.jpg

Manchester City warmed up for a season-defining month with a commanding 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park to set up a potential Premier League title party against rivals United.

Pep Guardiola's side face Liverpool over two legs in the Champions League quarter-final and welcome their bitter Manchester rivals to the Etihad Stadium in April, when they will also travel to Tottenham.

It is a run of games that could see them win the Premier League and take a huge step towards European glory, making Saturday's dominant triumph a timely one as a victory next weekend would seal the top-flight crown. The damage was done inside 12 minutes against a lacklustre Toffees team, with Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus on target, the former capping a fine move.

Everton won this fixture 4-0 last season, serving Guardiola with the biggest league loss of his managerial career, but the hosts – who also grabbed a draw in Manchester in August – were well off the pace on this occasion.

Guardiola's 50th English top-flight victory – which saw City become only the third team to beat all 19 opponents in a single Premier League campaign – was wrapped up before the break as Raheem Sterling got in on the act, with Yannick Bolasie's consolation goal doing nothing to prevent the leaders restoring their 16-point advantage at the summit.

The visitors soon forged ahead in eye-catching fashion as Aymeric Laporte and David Silva brilliantly linked up, the latter driving the ball across goal for Sane to expertly volley in from eight yards. Bolasie then missed a glorious chance to level things up, heading over from close range, and Everton were quickly punished.

City sprung forward and Jesus converted his first league goal since November from Kevin De Bruyne's cross to put the champions-elect in control.A near-miss from Leighton Baines' curling free-kick showed Sam Allardyce's men carried some attacking threat, but it paled next to the brilliance of his counterpart's well-oiled team.

Silva shot narrowly wide from just outside the box and then returned to his familiar role of provider, laying on a simple finish for Sterling at the end of a rapid City counter-attack.

Fernandinho's deflected strike called Jordan Pickford into action early in a second half during which Everton finally sought to challenge their opponents' authority. That bolder approach paid dividends in the 63rd minute when Bolasie's low, skidding effort beat Ederson and went in off the Brazilian's right-hand upright to break the winger's 525-day Premier League scoring drought.City were hardly rattled, though, and soon reasserted themselves by dictating the play, quashing any outside hopes of a Toffees revival in the closing stages.

While City will simply hope for more of the same in their upcoming blockbuster fixtures as they go in pursuit of a treble, Everton must pick themselves up for the Merseyside derby, when the home crowd will be far less forgiving of a performance like this one.

Inter 3 Verona 0: Icardi at the double in San Siro triumph

    wire-2613612-1522509955-690_634x409.jpg

Inter capitalised on Roma's slip-up against Bologna to move within two points of third place as goals from Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic sealed a 3-0 Serie A victory over Verona.Buoyed by the news of Roma's draw in Saturday's early kick-off, Luciano Spalletti's side wasted no time in asserting their authority at San Siro, Icardi putting them ahead after just 35 seconds.

The equally impressive Perisic soon got in on the act, slotting home in composed fashion to all but end the game as a contest after just 13 minutes.More chances followed for a rampant Inter, Perisic and Icardi combining again four minutes into the second half as the latter tucked in his second at the back post.

Both Mohamed Fares and Antonio Candreva struck the woodwork for their respective sides and there was more drama in the closing stages as Verona goalkeeper Nicolas saw red for a foul on Eder.

Stand-in Romulo was however on hand to deny Borja Valero in stoppage time to ensure Verona suffered no further damage, as Inter cruised to a confidence-boosting victory ahead of Wednesday's Milan derby.

Any hopes Verona harboured of causing an upset were dealt a blow with the first attack of the game, Perisic's throw-in carving open their defence, with Icardi alert to sweep home.

Verona could have been two down inside 10 minutes as both Danilo D'Ambrosio and Gagliardini passed up presentable chances, but Inter did not have to wait long for their second.Having claimed his first assist of the game, Perisic turned scorer as he rushed in behind the visiting defence before squeezing a neat finish in off the inside of the left-hand upright.

Inter had the ball in the net again prior to the half-hour mark – Icardi teeing up Cancelo for what would have been his first Serie A goal – but the strike was correctly disallowed for offside, before Gagliardini headed over at the culmination of an excellent move.Verona came out for the second half with renewed vigour, but quickly suffered a fresh setback.Soon after squandering a chance to double his tally, Perisic delivered a wonderful cross to the back post, where Icardi was on hand to prod in a finish.

Icardi made way to a standing ovation as Spalletti cast an eye to the upcoming clash with Inter's city rivals, though that change did not stem the hosts' attacking prowess as Candreva flashed a strike across the face of goal.Samir Handanovic was beaten when Fares' effort clattered away off the upright, while Candreva curled a strike against the post at the other end.

Verona's day went from bad to worse when Nicolas was sent off for a foul on Eder late on, but midfielder Romulo made a fine save from Valero to deny Inter a fourth.

West Ham 3 Southampton 0: Arnautovic gets London Stadium smiling again

West Ham gave their supporters plenty to cheer as they boosted their Premier League survival hopes with a 3-0 victory over fellow strugglers Southampton.
Three weeks on from the angry pitch invasions during West Ham's capitulation to Burnley, the Hammers turned on the style on Saturday amid increased security at London Stadium.

Home fans were more than happy to stay in their seats as David Moyes' side moved five points clear of the relegation zone, a first-half double from Marko Arnautovic coming after Joao Mario had broken the deadlock.

There was added significance for Arnautovic as he proved to be Mark Hughes' tormentor for the second time this season, the Austrian – who scored against Hughes' Stoke City in December - coming back to haunt his former boss on his league debut in the Saints dugout.

Charlie Austin's return did little to boost the visitors - who failed to have a shot on target - as Hughes slipped to a fourth loss in a first match in charge of a new Premier League club. The Saints remain embroiled in a relegation fight with seven games to play, Southampton now two points from safety and five behind West Ham – who rise to 14th.

Keen to avoid a repeat of the ugly scenes from their last home game, West Ham were immediately on the front foot and it paid dividends with two early goals. With 13 minutes on the clock, a stray pass from Mario Lemina was intercepted by Hammers skipper Mark Noble, who released Cheikhou Kouyate to charge at the Southampton defence.

The midfielder's cross found Joao Mario in acres of space and he lashed the ball beyond Alex McCarthy.Four minutes later the Hammers doubled their advantage, Joao Mario turning provider for Arnautovic, who beat McCarthy at the second attempt after missing a glorious chance moments earlier.

Kouyate and substitute Edimilson Fernandes wasted chances to stretch their advantage, but Arnautovic made no mistake in first-half stoppage time with a crisp volley from Arthur Masuaku's deep cross.

A more relaxed West Ham returned after the break as confidence began to grow both on and off the pitch, Moyes' men keeping Southampton at bay as the visitors looked to mount a comeback.Despite enjoying more possession than their hosts early in the second half, Southampton failed to test Joe Hart with anything other than dangerous crosses – the England goalkeeper handling them with aplomb.

Arnautovic went close to completing his hat-trick just after the hour on a rare foray into Southampton territory, but his curling effort was just wide of McCarthy's left-hand post.

The treble would not come as his day came to an early end - Jordan Hugill replacing him - but the 28-year-old had already done enough to lift the mood around London Stadium.

Brighton and Hove Albion 0 Leicester City 2: Iborra & Vardy win it for 10-man Foxes as Murray pays penalty

Glenn Murray had a penalty saved before Vicente Iborra and Jamie Vardy struck late for 10-man Leicester City as they beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 to prevent the Seagulls from all but securing their Premier League status.

Kasper Schmeichel was at fault for Chelsea's extra-time winner as Leicester were knocked out of the FA Cup last time out, but he was a hero for the Foxes on this occasion. The Dane got down low to his left to deny Murray, who had missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half, after Harry Maguire brought down Jose Izquierdo.

And Leicester quickly took advantage of that let-off as Iborra popped up to settle what had for the most part been a disappointing contest.Iborra glanced Ben Chilwell's left-wing cross into the bottom-right corner, yet there was another twist in the tale as Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi was sent off for a second yellow card.

But the visitors held firm despite their numerical disadvantage and Vardy added late gloss to the scoreline with an injury-time tap-in, Brighton unable to claim a win that would have seen them go nine points clear of third-bottom Southampton. Instead, they remain six points clear of the drop.

In a first half of few attacking opportunities, it was Brighton who had the better of the play, and they could have taken the lead after quarter of an hour had Beram Kayal been able to get a touch on Jurgen Locadia's low ball from the right. Leicester offered precious little going forward and only the profligacy of Murray prevented them from going behind.

First, Murray latched on to a poor pass from Maguire only to curl over the bar, before somehow firing wide when put clean through on goal by more sloppy defending from the visitors.Pascal Gross finally forced Schmeichel into action with a rasping drive that the Dane turned round the post, but both shot-stoppers remained largely untroubled.

Lewis Dunk headed over from a free-kick delivery but Brighton were presented with a golden opportunity when Izquierdo's surge into the box was stopped by Maguire in the 76th minute. However, Murray could not convert from 12 yards as Schmeichel atoned for his error in the cup, and seven minutes from time Iborra punished the Brighton striker's misfortune.

Mat Ryan had been largely untested in the Brighton goal but he had no answer to Iborra's precise header.Brighton's hopes of a leveller were swiftly boosted when Ndidi saw red for a rash challenge on Shane Duffy, and Solly March forced more heroics from Schmeichel with a brilliant long-range free-kick that was turned over.

Yet they could not find a way through and Vardy heightened their frustration in the 96th minute when he fired in a simple finish following good work down the right from Demarai Gray.

Watford 2 Bournemouth 2: Defoe denies Watford in stoppage time

Jermain Defoe struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a 2-2 draw for Bournemouth at Watford on Saturday, ending Javi Gracia's 100 per cent home winning record in the Premier League.

Goals from Kiko Femenia and Roberto Pereyra appeared to have done enough for the home side, who had dug deep to hold the lead, but second-half substitute Defoe punished slack defending to secure a share of the spoils at Vicarage Road.Despite an encouraging start, Bournemouth found themselves trailing early on through Femenia's first Premier League goal, which was aided by a deflection.

The visitors were gifted an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when Jose Holebas bizarrely opted to push the ball away with his hand inside the area, leaving Josh King to coolly convert from 12 yards.

Watford were seemingly jolted back into life by Gracia at half-time as they appeared more aggressive at the start of the second period and Pereyra put them ahead in the 49th minute – a deflection benefiting the hosts again.

But they were unable to maintain their level and Bournemouth levelled right at the end, Defoe capitalising on a loss of concentration by smashing home from close range, ending Gracia's run of three successive home wins at the start of his Watford tenure.

Bournemouth were purposeful and dangerous in a strong start at Vicarage Road and crafted two early chances.Nathan Ake hit the crossbar with a close-range header, before Junior Stanislas did well to test Orestis Karnezis from just outside the area after spinning Femenia.

But in the 13th minute Watford made them pay for not making the most of their chances.A corner was cleared as far as Femenia just inside the area and the Spaniard steered a volley goalwards, with a crucial deflection off King taking the ball away from Asmir Begovic.

But a moment of madness from Holebas gifted Bournemouth the chance to restore parity just before the break as the left-back slapped the ball in the area and King tucked away the resulting penalty.Bournemouth did not remain on level terms for long, however, with Watford regaining the lead three minutes into the second period.

Troy Deeney passed into the area from the left after tussling with Ryan Fraser and Will Hughes teed up Pereyra, whose effort took a slight flick off Dan Gosling before finding the bottom-right corner. After something of a lull, Eddie Howe showed his intent by introducing Defoe for the ineffective Jordon Ibe just after the hour to provide support for Callum Wilson and King.

And that gung-ho approach ultimately paid off for Howe when Defoe latched on to a loose bouncing ball in the area and confidently blasted past Karnezis in the second minute of stoppage time to secure a deserved point for the Cherries.

Paris Saint-Germain 3 Monaco 0: Cavani double seals Coupe de la Ligue glory

    4ABA873B00000578-5565761-image-a-75_1522534225636.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain won the Coupe de la Ligue for the fifth season in a row with a 3-0 victory over Monaco in Saturday's final in Bordeaux. Two goals from Edinson Cavani and an Angel Di Maria strike secured the win in a match in which VAR once again caused controversy.

Cavani scored twice in last season's 4-1 final win over the same opponents and he needed just eight minutes to break the deadlock, sweeping home from the penalty spot after Kamil Glik was eventually penalised for a trip on Kylian Mbappe following a lengthy VAR delay. With the injured Neymar not involved, Mbappe looked eager to take up the mantle of PSG's creator-in-chief, and his run and superb pass saw Di Maria double the lead before the break.

Radamel Falcao saw a header disallowed for offside after another VAR referral and Rony Lopes clipped the woodwork in the second half, but Leonardo Jardim's side rarely looked like staging a comeback before Cavani netted a stylish third of the match with five minutes left, as Mbappe picked up his second assist.PSG have now won the trophy eight times, with six triumphs coming since 2008, and have taken the first step towards yet another clean sweep of domestic silverware.

After a dazzling pre-match light show, it was Mbappe who shone brightest early on against his old club, and it was his driving run into the box that drew a foul from centre-back Glik.Referee Clement Turpin awarded the penalty but then changed his mind, only to go back to his original decision after a delayed consultation with VAR. In the end, Cavani made no mistake from the spot.

PSG survived some Monaco pressure before making it 2-0 with a slick counter-attack. Mbappe raced into space and played a glorious cross-field pass into the path of Di Maria, whose shot went beneath Danijel Subasic far too easily.

It was a goal that compounded Monaco's poor start, something that was underlined further when Lopes sprung the offside trap only to chip his effort wide with the goal at his mercy.Falcao then thought he had grabbed a lifeline eight minutes before the break, when he beat Kevin Trapp to the ball to head in Lopes' cross, but the goal was ruled out seemingly for offside after another VAR check, much to the striker's frustration.

That moment did at least inspire some life from Monaco, with Lopes clipping the crossbar with a dipping effort early in the second half, before Mbappe wasted two one-on-one chances to make it a three-goal lead for PSG.

Cavani had a second goal disallowed correctly for offside but he was not to be denied, the Uruguay star collecting Mbappe's pass and firing beyond Subasic into the bottom-left corner, as PSG won their fifth trophy under head coach Unai Emery in what could prove his last season at the club.
