Solskjaer not expecting Man Utd departures ahead of transfer deadline

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not expect any Manchester United players to leave before Thursday's transfer deadline, but would not rule out late departures.A number of players have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford with full-back Matteo Darmian and captain Antonio Valencia linked with moves to Italy.

There has also been speculation Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira, who has been loaned to Spanish clubs Granada and Valencia in recent seasons, could make another temporary move.

"At the moment I can see everyone staying at the club," caretaker coach Solskjaer said at his press conference ahead of Tuesday's Premier League visit of Burnley when asked about reported Juventus target Darmian's situation."No deals have been done with anyone but there are still a few more days."I’m not too involved in the negotiations so whatever happens happens, but it’ll be good to get the window closed and keep improving the players in the squad still here."

Pereira, 23, something of a fans' favourite with the United support, enjoyed a handful of early-season performances under previous manager Jose Mourinho, who was sacked in December. His opportunities dwindled, however, and he has had few chances to impress Solskjaer yet.

But the Norwegian ruled out another loan and says his chance will come."I can’t see him going out on loan because Andreas has done fantastic in training ever since I come back," he said."He’s a player I can see playing quite a few games for us towards the end of the season."

Morata completes 18-month Atletico Madrid loan move

    9103430-6640735-image-m-49_1548712978916.jpg

Alvaro Morata has completed an 18-month long loan move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid with a purchase option set for the end of that time.Goal revealed that the 26-year-old had reached personal terms with the Liga side last week, with the player set to accept a pay cut on his current £120,000 per week wages upon the activation of Atleti's option to purchase.

And Atletico have confirmed that the Spain international has completed a medical and signed on for the rest of this season and the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign.

"I'm very happy and proud to be here. I can't wait to start training, meet my new team-mates and play," Morata told the Spanish side's website. Although his professional breakthrough came at city rivals Real Madrid, Morata spent four years at Atletico as a youth academy player.

After two spells with Real, which were sandwiched by an impressive period at Juventus, Morata joined Chelsea in 2017 and enjoyed a bright start to life in the Premier League, scoring 10 times in the first half of his first season. The forward soon began to struggle with injuries and poor form, however, as he netted just once more for the rest of 2017-18.

Maurizio Sarri opted to keep Morata after joining from Napoli, but the Spain international struggled again this season, scoring five times in 16 Premier League outings. His days at Stamford Bridge seemed to be up when Chelsea lined up a loan move for Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, completing the switch from AC Milan last week.

The prospect of Morata returning to Atletico sparked some outrage among the club's fans, who voiced their displeasure during their recent win over Getafe. However, Morata made no apologies for his Real Madrid history when he arrived in the city at the weekend to complete his deal.

"It's normal for people to have their thoughts [about playing for Atletico after Real Madrid], I know what I can do," he said."I started playing at Atletico. People who know where I come from, they know my history and what this means to me. The past is the past, I am proud of that."Morata made 72 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 24 goals.

Arsenal 2 Cardiff City 1: Aubameyang and Lacazette see Gunners bounce back

    9151622-6645519-image-m-71_1548798934077.jpg

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were on target as an unconvincing Arsenal beat Cardiff City 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, bouncing back from defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.Unai Emery's men failed to impress despite largely controlling proceedings, though they benefited from Bruno Ecuele Manga's haplessness at the back for Aubameyang's penalty, and Lacazette put the game beyond Cardiff before Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's stoppage-time consolation.

After pre-match tributes to Cardiff's missing striker Emiliano Sala, the visitors gave a good account of themselves in a first half of few chances, looking just as lively as their hosts, though they were perhaps fortunate Ecuele Manga did not concede a spot-kick shortly before the interval.

The Gabonese defender failed to learn his lesson, however, finding himself penalised in the second period and his compatriot Aubameyang converted, before Lacazette put the result beyond doubt with a fine effort of his own.Mendez-Laing pulled one back with an excellent left-footed finish, but it amounted to little.

Arsenal were quick out of the blocks and should have gone ahead in the second minute, but Neil Etheridge got a touch to Sead Kolasinac's cross and an unbalanced Lacazette failed to pounce quick enough, seeing his eventual effort blocked.Cardiff wasted a good chance of their own soon after – Bobby Reid slicing a volley just wide after Mohamed Elneny inadvertently nudged the ball on.

As underwhelming as Arsenal's first-half display was, they were furious to not get a penalty just before the break, as Ecuele Manga escaped unpunished when catching Lacazette. The Cardiff man was not so fortunate midway through the second period, however, as he clumsily sent Kolasinac tumbling in the box and the previously anonymous Aubameyang converted confidently.

Lacazette sealed the win seven minutes from the end with a fine goal not in keeping with the rest of the match, as he took up possession out on the right, darted inside and finished clinically past Etheridge after bursting into the box.

Mendez-Laing netted in style right at the end, bending a left-footed strike into the bottom-left corner, though it had little impact as Cardiff remain in the drop zone, three points from safety.

:love:Manchester United 2 Burnley 2: Lindelof salvages dramatic draw

    jJagwG5.jpg

Manchester United scored two late goals in the space of five minutes as they came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Burnley at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood appeared to have set Burnley on course for a first away win against United since September 1962 and inflict a first defeat on caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, Paul Pogba's 87th-minute penalty and an injury-time strike from Victor Lindelof - his first for the club - salvaged a point for the home side that could yet prove important in the race for the top four.

Marcus Rashford scuffed a glorious early chance wide and Barnes could have punished that miss were it not for a vital interception by the returning Phil Jones.

Pogba had the ball in the net but was pulled up by a correct offside call, as United endured a frustrating end to a half in which they struggled to reach top gear and failed to have a shot on target.

And Old Trafford was stunned six minutes after the restart, when Barnes fired high into the net from just inside the box after Andreas Pereira was robbed of possession by Jack Cork.

United at last upped the tempo and Tom Heaton denied Rashford from distance before producing a stunning stop to claw the ball away from the right-hand post after Romelu Lukaku's touch.A poor touch from Rashford spoiled another good chance for United, and it was duly punished once again, with Wood rising high to nod home Ashley Westwood's cross.

United surged forward and Pogba swept a spot-kick into the top-left corner to give them some hope, after Jeff Hendrick had tugged down Jesse Lingard. And in the second minute of injury time, Lindelof turned in the rebound after Heaton kept out Alexis Sanchez's header to rescue a share of the spoils.

Wolves 3 West Ham 0: Jimenez at the double in routine win

Raul Jimenez scored twice after Romain Saiss' opener as Wolves earned a fully deserved 3-0 win over a lacklustre West Ham at Molineux.Lukasz Fabianski had done his best to keep the Hammers in the contest, but there was little he could do to stop Saiss scoring from Joao Moutinho's 66th-minute set-piece.

Jimenez's clever finish made sure of the points with 10 minutes remaining and a deft effort for his second completed the most routine of wins for Nuno Espirito Santo's side, who go seventh in the Premier League.

It marks the first ever league double for Wolves over the Hammers, who have lost back-to-back top-flight games for the first time since October and failed to rebound from a humiliating 4-2 loss to AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Wolves had a strong penalty claim waved away in the 21st minute.Matt Doherty burst into the area and was felled in a tangle of legs by Arthur Masuaku with referee David Coote awarding only a corner.

Leander Dendoncker tamely struck Doherty's centre straight at Fabianski, while Jonny was unlucky his stooping diving header from Jimenez's sublime cross trickled past the right post. The hosts had a goal chalked off when Dendoncker headed in the rebound after the crossbar was rattled by Jimenez, who was adjudged offside.

Wolves' pressure did not relent in the second half and Diogo Jota and Saiss were both smartly denied by Fabianski.Fabianski made another fine stop from Jonny's stinging effort, but the goalkeeper was finally beaten when Saiss headed in Moutinho's delivery from the resulting corner.

There was no coming back when Jimenez beat his marker to flick Moutinho's left-wing free-kick past Fabianski and the Portugal striker lifted a third over the goalkeeper from Jota's pass to a complete a rapid Wolves break.
