Luis Enrique steps down as Spain head coach

Luis Enrique has stepped down from his position as Spain head coach, with his assistant Robert Moreno taking over on a permanent basis.

Former assistant coach Moreno oversaw Spain's past three matches after Luis Enrique was granted leave following a family emergency in March and will remain in charge until the end of Euro 2020.

Moreno and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) were keen to see the former Barcelona boss return for the next international break in September.

However, it was confirmed on Wednesday that Moreno will take on the job on a full-time basis in the latest coaching change for La Roja."Luis Enrique has informed us that he will not continue as coach. I have to thank him, he has behaved with the RFEF in a '10' manner, we do not have the slightest rebuke. Our doors will always be open to him," said RFEF president Luis Rubiales.

"The decision of the RFEF is to trust Robert Moreno as the coach. He will continue on the same duration of the contract that was already signed. He will be in charge of taking us to Euro 2020 and of doing a good job if we qualify."Moreno said: "I want to thank you [the RFEF] for placing your trust in us. It's a bittersweet day."I didn't expect to be the head coach this way. We are going to try to continue the high-level work that Luis started."

And Luis Enrique also released a statement concerning his departure, stating: "As the reasons preventing me from carrying out my duties as national team coach since March continue today, I've decided to step down.

"I'd like to thank the staff and players for their professionalism. Not forgetting the media for your discretion and respect."Spain sacked Julen Lopetegui on the eve of last year's World Cup after he agreed a deal with Real Madrid, before Luis Enrique came in for Fernando Hierro following an underwhelming tournament in Russia.

The three-time European champions finished second behind England in their Nations League group but have since won their opening four Euro 2020 qualifiers. And their next set of qualification fixtures in Group F are scheduled for September 5 and 8, where they will face Romania and Faroe Islands respectively.

Hazard caused defensive issues for Chelsea - Sarri

Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri has admitted that he struggled to field his preferred system while at Chelsea so as to be able to maximise the potential of Eden Hazard.

The Italian, who cut short his stay at Stamford Bridge to move back to Italy to take charge of the Serie A champions, described the Belgium international as a gamechanger however for his prowess.Hazard, who has also left Chelsea to join Real Madrid, scored 21 goals and provided 17 assists for the Blues across all competitions in 2018-19.

Sarri’s lone campaign with the Premier League outfit will likely be seen as a success in retrospect following a top four finish and the Europa League title but he still faced criticism for his tactics from some quarters this year.Speaking at his official unveiling Turin, the 60-year-old stated that he believed he was unable to play to the free-flowing 4-3-3 approach he was acclaimed for at Napoli as he felt obliged to play his talismanic striker in his preferred role.

"In recent years, I've had 4-3-3, but the 4-3-3 at Chelsea was very different to the one at Napoli," Sarri stated."We had to accommodate Hazard's characteristics, as he could change the game, but also his presence caused issues in defending that we had to work on."

The 28-year-old had enjoyed his most prolific season in a Blues shirt with the boot to conclude his stay in London, having signed for the club in 2012.Across a seven-year spell, he won all three major domestic honours in English football, including two top-flight titles, as well as a brace of Europa League crowns.

Sarri meanwhile won his first major honour when he guided Chelsea to a 4-1 win over Arsenal in last month’s Europa League final in Baku.

He earlier took them to the Carabao Cup final, where they lost on penalties to Manchester City. The Italian will now begin preparations for his side’s trip to Asia in July, where they will face Tottenham and Inter in Singapore and China respectively as part of the International Champions Cup.They will then play a final pre-season encounter with Atletico Madrid in Sweden on August 10.

Atletico Madrid agree deal to sign €35m Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente

Atletico Madrid are set to seal the signing of midfielder Marcos Llorente after announcing a deal with city rivals Real Madrid has been agreed.

Llorente will undergo a medical before signing a five-year contract at the Wanda Metropolitano in a move understood to be worth an initial €30 million (£26.7m/$33.9m), with the potential for a further €5m to be paid in add-ons.The 24-year-old midfielder is primed to replace Spain international Rodri, who is said to be on the brink of a switch to Premier League champions Manchester City.

Atletico have already signed defender Felipe from Porto and are reportedly set to bring in Benfica's teenage sensation Joao Felix.

Further moves are set to follow with a number of high-profile players departing Atleti – including Diego Godin, Juanfran and Lucas Hernandez – and Antoine Griezmann expected to leave.

Rivals Madrid have also been active in the transfer market, bringing in Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy in addition to previous deals for Eder Militao and Rodrygo Goes.

Madrid released a statement to confirm Llorente's imminent move on Thursday.
"The club wants to show its gratitude for all these years of dedication and professionalism and for [Llorente's] exemplary behaviour from when he arrived in 2008 to his trajectory with the first team," it read."Real Madrid wishes you good luck on your new stage."Llorente made just seven La Liga appearances last season, although he was a top-flight regular for Deportivo Alaves in 2016-17.

He also made a handful of games in the Champions League, as Los Blancos failed to defend their title after winning three crowns on the bounce.

Signed to the Madrid youth system in 2008, he made his debut for the club in October 2015 as a substitute and scored his first goal last December against Al-Ain in the Club World Cup final, in which he was named man of the match.

His limited opportunities on the whole at Santiago Bernabeu has arguably cost him the chance of a senior call-up, with Llorente having played at under-19 and under-21 level for his country.

He leaves with two years remaining on his contract, having initially signed an extension in September 2017 that took him through until the end of the 2020-21 season.

Barcelona and Napoli set for American clash in first La Liga-Serie A Cup

Barcelona have confirmed that they will face Napoli across a two-legged clash in the United States in the inaugural La Liga-Serie A Cup during their pre-season preparations this year.

The Spanish champions and Italian heavyweights will square off in two games played across two states in early August as part of their schedule ahead of the 2019-20 campaign. The first encounter, on August 7, will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, at the home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.

Barcelona were set to face Girona in a regular season La Liga fixture at the venue earlier this year, though the endeavour was ultimately shelved after it was met with strong opposition from FIFA and UEFA.

The second, three days later on August 10, will see the duo take in Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, at the University of Michigan, in what will be the largest venue either side has ever played in.Affectionately known as ‘The Big House’, it is the second-largest stadium in the world after North Korea’s national football ground, with a current capacity of 107,601.

The fixtures represent Barcelona’s first visit since pre-season last year, when they played three International Champions Cup games in Pasadena, Arlington and Santa Clara, while Napoli make their first trip stateside for three decades.

Both teams professed their excitement at the upcoming fixtures, with club presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Aurelio de Laurentiis expressing their delight for the encounters."Visiting the United States and being able to get closer to our fans is always a great thing for Barca," Bartomeu stated.

"On top of that, we will also have the chance to play at two iconic stadiums: at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where in 2017 we played the LaLiga Clasico, and at Michigan Stadium, the largest in the United States."While there, we hope to put on a show and entertain our American fans with our style of play."

"We could not be happier to be playing against Barcelona in the United States," added de Laurentiis."Our club has not visited the country for thirty years and the chance to go back to the American market for these two games and against an opponent like Barca is extraordinary for us."

Barcelona have already confirmed an additional pre-season trip to Japan, where they will face Vissel Kobe and Premier League outfit Chelsea.

'Bale hasn't lived up to Real Madrid's expectation' - 13 trophies not enough, says former president

Gareth Bale has not “lived up to the expectation” which greeted his arrival at Real Madrid, claims the club’s former president Ramon Calderon. The Blancos broke the world transfer record back in 2013 when acquiring the Wales international from Tottenham. He was taken to Santiago Bernabeu to help complement the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo in a star-studded squad.

He has enjoyed considerable success since, with a haul of 13 trophies including a Liga title and four Champions League crowns.Bale has, however, struggled to win over his critics during six years in the Spanish capital and is now reportedly edging towards the exit door.

A loan move has been ruled out, but the 29-year-old has still been tipped to leave before the 2019-20 campaign gets underway.Calderon told talkSPORT of Bale’s situation: “It’s a problem.“I feel sorry for the player, but the truth is he hasn’t lived up to the expectation when he came.“After six years, his situation is very difficult.

“Zidane has discarded him in his mind, clearly, and he proved that in the last two months when he took over the club and Bale sat on the bench.“For me, the best option would be a loan, but we’ve heard what Bale’s agent has said, it’s easier to see him winning Ascot than leaving on loan.

“So it’s a difficult situation for him.”Bale has recorded 102 goals across 231 games for Madrid.Consistency has been an issue, though, and he has taken in regular spells on the sidelines through injury. The departure of Ronaldo in the summer of 2018 saw even more pressure lumped onto his shoulders.

He has failed to become the talisman Real needed in the absence of a five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Many Blancos fans have made him a scapegoat for the club’s struggles in 2018-19, with Zidane’s decision to drop him down the pecking order leading many to suggest it will be difficult for him to stay. His agent has stated at regular intervals that Bale will not be pushing for a move, but many believe a fresh start is now required in order for a proven performer to rediscover his confidence and spark.

Gabriel Jesus takes No.9 shirt at Man City to further dampen exit talk

Gabriel Jesus has changed his shirt number at Manchester City, with the Brazil international striker to wear No.9 from the 2019-20 campaign.

The South American arrived at the Etihad Stadium in the winter transfer window of 2017.He took No.33 at that stage, with none of the regular striking shirts available.

Sergio Aguero is very much the No.10 at City, with the Argentine frontman still a prolific presence for the Blues. When Jesus was signed, Nolito had number nine but he has since moved on, freeing Jesus to step into his shoes. The City star has told the club’s official website: “It will be an honour to wear the City number nine shirt and I’ll do so with great pride.

“I hope to score many goals wearing this jersey and help City to more trophies in the coming seasons.“It’s the number I wear with Brazil and as always, I’ll be giving everything for City when I’m wearing it.”

Jesus has netted 45 goals in 100 appearances for City so far.He was not a guaranteed starter in the 2018-19 season, but made a telling contribution when called upon.

A personal best return of 21 efforts across all competitions were recorded, including two in an FA Cup final destruction of Watford that wrapped up a historic domestic treble for City.

The hope is that there are many more goals to come.Jesus had sparked exit talk at one stage, with it suggested that he may look to move on with Aguero established as the first choice frontman under Pep Guardiola.

The 22-year-old has seemingly brought that speculation to a close with his change of number.Jesus will be hoping to fare better in the No.9 shirt than some of those to have filled it for City in the recent past, with the likes of Nolito, Alvaro Negredo, Valeri Bojinov and Emile Mpenza among his predecessors.

The jersey has not always been a curse, though, with cult icons Paulo Wanchope and Paul Dickov having also been City No.9s, while Emmanuel Adebayor and Niall Quinn have also donned that shirt during the Premier League era.

:('Man Utd won't be challengers until at least 2021' - Neville sees need for 'a lot of change'

Manchester United will not be Premier League title challengers until at least 2021, says Gary Neville, with “a lot of change” required at Old Trafford. The Red Devils found themselves stuck in another rut at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.A season that opened with optimism and hope under Jose Mourinho, ended with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer overseeing a sixth-place finish.

United will be without Champions League football for 2019-20, while they have now gone two years without securing major silverware.

The general consensus is that there is much work to be done at the Theatre of Dreams.Neville is among those buying into that way of thinking, with the legendary former defender telling Bild: “There has to be a lot of change here.

“Without the change of some players it will not happen.“It will not be possible for United to become a champion for the next two years.”

United have failed to land the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson slipped into retirement. He brought his iconic reign to an end with a 13th crown in 2013.

David Moyes struggled to fill sizeable shoes in the Old Trafford dugout and lasted only a matter of months before being shown to the exits.Louis van Gaal did secure an FA Cup triumph but attracted widespread criticism for his style of football.

Mourinho was appointed in 2016 as a proven winner and delivered three trophies in his debut campaign. The Portuguese was, however, to be relieved of his duties in December 2018.Treble-winning hero Solskjaer delivered an initial upturn in fortune upon taking the reins on an interim basis.

He was handed a three-year contract as a result but finished the season with a run of two wins in 12 across all competitions. The Norwegian has conceded that he has another rebuilding job on his hands, with Solskjaer having already written United out of the title race for next term.

He is currently in the process of reshaping the squad at his disposal, with Daniel James snapped up from Swansea while various other names are being linked with big-money moves in the summer transfer window.

Juventus move into pole position for De Ligt as they ready €70m bid

Juventus are increasingly confident that they can win the race to sign Matthijs de Ligt and are preparing to bid around €70 million (£63m/$80m) to land the Ajax star.

There is huge interest from Europe's top clubs in the centre-back, who captained Ajax to a domestic double as well as playing a key role in their progress to the Champions League semi-final.

The likes of Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have all been keen on signing De Ligt, who has insisted that he will consider his next move while on holiday following the conclusion of the Nations League tournament.

Indeed, PSG remain one of the front-runners to land the Dutchman, with talks ongoing over the last two weeks although the player has yet to accept an offer from the Ligue 1 champions.

Barca had long been considered favourites to sign De Ligt, with his Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong already secured for the 2019-20 season and the Catalan giants hoping that the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi would also work in their favour.

With plenty of defensive options already at their disposal, however, they will likely need to sell before they push ahead with a move for De Ligt, while there is also the possibility of Neymar returning in the summer for what would be a significant sum.

City, for their part, had also been interested in signing the centre-back although the Premier League champions have pulled back from a deal for the player because of the figures involved and a reluctance to work with agent Mino Raiola.

But it's Juve who are now confident they can strike a deal with Ajax and convince the player to head to Italy.Indeed, according to sources close to the Italian club they are speaking with De Ligt's agent Raiola on a daily basis as they move into pole position to sign the 19-year-old.The teenage defender is also believed to be intrigued at the propsect of signing for Juve, with the club due to contact Ajax in the coming days over negotiating a transfer fee.

The attraction of joining the Serie A champions, who won their eighth title in a row in 2018-19, is obvious, with the club determined to improve their squad ahead of another attempt to progress further in the Champions League.

The signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 was seen as a clear statement of intent in terms of their aspirations to win Europe's top club competition, although they were dumped out at the quarter-final stage by De Ligt's Ajax last season.

Indeed, Ronaldo himself appears to have played a part in trying to convince De Ligt to move to Turin, with the Netherlands international revealing that the former Real Madrid star asked about him joining Juve following the Nations League final.

Juve are also exploring a move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, although they are aware of rival interest from Real Madrid, who appear the favourites to land the World Cup winner.

'I haven't spoken to Zidane' - James trying to remain calm despite Real Madrid uncertainty

James Rodriguez admits he does not know where he will be playing club football next season but insists he is fully focused on Colombia's Copa America campaign. The playmaker spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich but returned to Santiago Bernabeu at the end of last term following the Bundesliga champions' decision not to exercise an option to sign him for €42 million (£36m/$47m).

James' career has stalled somewhat in recent years and he only featured in 20 league games for Bayern in 2018-19, scoring seven goals and making three assists.

Despite signing for Real in 2014 in a deal worth €90 million (£71m/$90m) after he won the Golden Boot at the Brazil World Cup, James is now looking for a route out of the Spanish capital in order to get more regular game time. The 27-year-old concedes he is powerless over his future at the moment though.

"Right now I'm only thinking about the Copa America," Rodriguez said after Colombia's 1-0 win over Paraguay on Sunday. "I still don't know where I'll go but I want to be calm. The decision depends on the club (Real Madrid)."There are people with a lot of power there, I can't do much. I haven't spoken with Zidane."

James has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli that would see him reunited with Carlo Ancelotti, who he worked with at both Real and Bayern, this summer. Azzurri midfielder Fabian Ruiz added fuel to that speculation by insisting earlier this month that James would be welcomed by the squad in Naples.

Real are reportedly keen to get the former Monaco star off their books in order to free up funds to make further transfers this summer, having already brought in Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

But James will first see out Colombia's Copa America campaign before linking up with any club side. Carlos Queiroz's side cruised through the group stage with maximum points, beating Argentina in their in a dominant opening-game 2-0 win.The Albiceleste managed a 2-0 victory over Qatar in their final Group B fixture on Sunday to also book their place in the quarter-final.

‘Arsenal need to gamble beyond their budget’ – Parlour urges Gunners to follow Liverpool’s lead

Arsenal need to “gamble” in the summer transfer market and spend beyond their budget, says Ray Parlour.Another quiet window is said to be on the cards at Emirates Stadium and it has been suggested that Unai Emery will be given around £45 million ($57m) to spend by the Gunners board. That figure falls some way short of the funding expected to be invested by a number of Premier League rivals.

Parlour believes Arsenal need to loosen the purse strings and scrap their frugal approach to recruitment, with the north London outfit in danger of being left behind.

The ex-Gunners midfielder told the Daily Star: “They are a long way behind Liverpool and Manchester City. Maybe they have to spend a bit more money.“You see what Liverpool did – they needed a centre-back and in comes Virgil van Dijk. Nobody mentions how much he cost now. The same with Alisson in goal.

“It’s all about investment. As much as I hate to say that money is everything, but it’s always gone that way.“Sometimes you have to go beyond your budget, absolutely.“If you can attract a player and you know he is very keen to go, sometimes you have to push the boat out a little bit further and take the gamble.”

Arsenal are being linked with a number of players as they seek to bolster their ranks.Rumours of interest in the likes of Belgium international Yannick Carrasco, who is currently on the books of Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang, and Bournemouth forward Ryan Fraser continue to rage.

The Gunners are also said to be looking at Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. They have, however, faced criticism for tabling a reported £15m ($19m) bid for the Scotland star, with that offer considered to be another indication of the “cheap” approach being favoured.

While Emery is seeing his hands tied, Manchester United have already made their intentions clear as they prepare to complement the £15m addition of Daniel James with a £55m ($70m) swoop for Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

De Ligt to Juventus will end Serie A title race - Capello

Former Juventus manager Fabio Capello believes the Serie A title race will be over for another season if the Bianconeri complete the signing of Matthijs de Ligt.As reported by Goal on Saturday , Juve are set to bid €70 million (£63m/$80m) for De Ligt in a bid to beat Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to the defender.

The 19-year-old guided Ajax to last season’s Champions League semi-final as captain, while also helping the Netherlands to the Nations League final, scoring in the semi-final victory over England.

“I’ve read about Manolas to Napoli. With him and Kalidou Koulibaly, as well as a couple more quality reinforcements, Napoli become very competitive.”

'I don’t know' - Man United and City target Koulibaly not sure of Napoli stay

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has not ruled himself out of a transfer away from the Serie A side as Premier League clubs circle. Both Manchester United and Manchester City are rumoured to be interested in the 28-year-old, who is away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.City and United are also both supposedly chasing Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.

He refused to be drawn on speculation, but also refused to guarantee he’d be at the San Paolo next season.

“I don’t know [if I’ll still be at Napoli next year], I think so,” he told Goal in the aftermath of his national team’s 2-0 win over Tanzania in the Africa Cup of Nations, “but I have to play the Afcon and then after that I’ll go back to Napoli.” “Everyone’s speaking about me, but I’m only speaking about Senegal, because that’s my objective today and I want to achieve something big with Senegal.”

Koulibaly, who signed for Napoli from Belgian side Genk in 2014, played all 90 minutes in Senegal’s win on Sunday. His Teranga Lions comfortably beat Tanzania who hadn’t appeared at the continental showpiece since 1980.Koulibaly wanted to shift the focus from himself and transfer rumours to his national side.

“I don’t want to talk about my future today, I prefer to talk about Senegal,” the 32-cap-international went on.“Senegal achieved something great today. I am 200 per cent with Senegal and 200% with the 15 million Senegalese people.“I’m relaxed, I want to focus on the Afcon and after that return to Napoli and we’ll see what happens.

“The most important thing now is to win with Senegal.”Koulibaly has interested City who are looking for a central defender to replace club legend Vincent Kompany, who left to become player-manager at Anderlecht after the end of last season.

Manchester United are expected to attempt to rebuild their team this summer after another disappointing season last time out, with the back line a key area of need.

Former AC Milan striker Gilardino urges Cutrone to leave the club

Patrick Cutrone should leave AC Milan in order to improve himself as a player, according to former San Siro striker Alberto Gilardino.

Italy Under-21 forward Cutrone, thought to be valued at €25 million (£22m/$28m) by Milan, scored for his country at the U21 European Championship against Belgium on Saturday, rekindling speculation about his future at club level.

The 21-year-old was the subject of interest from clubs in La Liga and the Bundesliga in January according to his agent, and Gilardino told Gazzetta dello Sport that he should seek more regular first-team opportunities elsewhere after making just 12 starts for Milan last season.

Asked whether he would advise Cutrone to leave, former Italy international Gilardino replied: "Yes, because he would have more chances to play continuously.
"His future may lie away from Milan, where he might be given the chance to become a very important player."

Cutrone's second full season as a first-team player for the Rossoneri saw him score just three Serie A goals – seven fewer than he netted in 2017-18, despite making six more appearances. His opportunities in the first-team may be limited moving forward however, with Krzysztof Piatek now the main man in Milan’s attack having scored nine goals in 18 games last season.

Gilardino, who struck 36 goals in 94 league appearances for Milan from 2005 to 2008, believes the striker would be a worthwhile investment for another club despite his high price tag.

"This year he has improved and can already do everything," said Gilardino, who won the Champions League with Milan in 2007."[He can] play out wide, behind the main striker, or as a centre-forward.

Departing Milan could prove to be a difficult decision for Cutrone, who has been on the books with the Serie A club since 2007.He was handed his first professional contract at the San Siro in March 2015 aged 17, and made his senior debut against Bologna in May 2017.

The 21-year-old has since gone on to score 27 goals in 90 appearances for Milan across all competitions.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will have a medical at Manchester United this week ahead of the completion of his £55 million ($70m) move from Crystal Palace.

Goal can confirm the right-back is due to arrive at United’s Carrington training facility upon his return from international duty with England’s Under-21 side following their early exit from this summer’s European Championship tournament in Italy.

Wan-Bissaka has been monitored extensively by United over the last few months and is expected to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-choice right-back as the Norwegian looks to make United a younger, more dynamic force in all areas of the field.

The 21-year-old caught the Red Devils’ eye with a combination of his intelligent attacking play and his fearless defending, and Palace have agreed to allow him to leave Selhurst Park after 46 appearances for the Eagles. The 2018-19 campaign was Wan-Bissaka’s breakout year in south London and he was rewarded with the Crystal Palace Player of the Season award.

“He’s been outstanding,' Palace boss Roy Hodgson said at the time. "He had a baptism of fire over a year ago now, playing three of the top six teams in his first games."He’s been so good in all of the games. He’s a complete full-back as far as I’m concerned.”

His performances with Palace led to him being called up for Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21 squad for the Euros in Italy but was left out of England’s 4-2 defeat to Romania on Friday having scored a late own-goal in the 2-1 loss to France first time out.
England complete their involvement on Monday night when they take on Croatia in their final Group C game, and Wan-Bissaka will then travel to Manchester later in the week to complete his medical at the AON Training Complex. If everything goes to plan, Wan-Bissaka will become United’s second signing of the summer following t he £15m ($19m) addition of Wales international Daniel James from Swansea City.

Solskjaer had initially claimed he was looking to have his squad for 2019-20 completed by July 1 when his side are due back for the start of pre-season training, and while there appears to still be plenty of work to do in the market the potential addition of Wan-Bissaka will be a timely boost for the manager.

Sarabia set to join PSG in deal worth over €20m

Pablo Sarabia is all set to leave Sevilla to join Paris Saint-Germain, with the Ligue 1 club prepared to pay more than his €18 million (£16m/$20m) release clause. The Ligue 1 outfit are ready to offer over €20m (£18m/$23m) to sign him from the Spanish side this summer, ensuring Sevilla make a huge profit on the €400,000 they paid to get him from Getafe in 2016.

Spain international Sarabia has one year left on his contract at Sevilla even though the club has spent the last two years trying to persuade him to renew his deal.

Several offers were made to extend his contract, most recently with sporting director Monchi reaching out to him, but the 27-year-old made the decision to leave the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan some time ago.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play on the wing and up front, does not want to leave Sevilla on bad terms and wants the club to finalise talks with PSG over the move.

With the French side offering more than his release clause and putting a lucrative contract on the table for the player, Sarabia's exit is expected to be confirmed by July 1.Sarabia will depart after scoring 23 goals and making 17 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions in 2018-19.

He will be PSG's second signing of the summer, having already landed 19-year-old goalkeeper Marcin Bulka from Chelsea. Meanwhile, they have seen Moussa Diaby leave for Bayer Leverkusen, while Giovani Lo Celso and Grzegorz Krychowiak saw their loan spells at Real Betis and Lokomotiv Moscow respectively turned into permanent deals.Gianluigi Buffon, Dani Alves and Adrien Rabiot are also departing, with their contracts expiring at the end of the month.

Thomas Tuchel's team won their second consecutive Ligue 1 title last season but failed to defend their Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue titles and crashed out of the Champions League at the last-16 phase, losing to Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Sevilla have already waved goodbye to Quincy Promes, whose move to Ajax was confirmed on Monday and Luis Muriel has left for Atalanta.

'Real Madrid can send spectacular Hazard to the top' - Torres tipping ex-Chelsea team-mate to shine

Real Madrid will provide Eden Hazard with the platform he needs to reach the highest level, according to Fernando Torres.Chelsea this month sold Hazard, who had one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, to Madrid in a deal worth an initial €100 million (£88m/$112m).

Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo have also arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu as Zinedine Zidane bids to rejuvenate Los Blancos after a dismal 2018-19 season, in which they finished third in La Liga and only won the Club World Cup.

Torres believes Madrid offers his former Chelsea team-mate Hazard with the perfect stage to raise his game, though the Belgium international will need to ensure he has the appropriate mindset.

"[Madrid] have got the brand where every player in the world wants to play there, and when they call the players see it as a club where you can make history," Torres, who last week announced his retirement, told AS.

"Hazard is a spectacular footballer who needs the boost from a club like Real Madrid to reach the level he can reach, which he did at Chelsea in a fleeting manner."It remains to be seen if he's able to push himself to want to be better. His ability and the conditions are perfect.

"Sometimes it seemed he struggled to want to be better when I saw him training, it was clear he could be at the level of the best. Now he's got the stage on which to do it. It'll depend more on his mentality than his football."

Madrid sold Marcos Llorente to Atletico Madrid in a reported €35m (£31m/$40m) deal, the midfielder arriving at the Wanda Metropolitano ahead of Rodri's anticipated switch to Manchester City.

Torres does not see an issue with Llorente moving from Atleti's arch-rivals and hopes the club can become a place where players see out their careers."Atleti is bigger now than thinking about which team the players come from. What's more important is where they are leaving to go," said the World Cup winner.

"There will come a time when players will see Atleti as their final destination, where they want to win, to stay, to be part of the history and be remembered forever."It is a step that will be taken soon. No matter where you come from or the name, it matters that you are committed to Atleti.

"Once you're there, the people in the club are able to convey what it means. And the day they decide to leave they do so respecting what the club has given them, and nobody will reproach them for anything."

'That is the truth' - Man Utd-linked Coutinho confirms Barcelona future up in the air

Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho does not know what the future holds amid speculation over a Camp Nou exit.Coutinho arrived from Liverpool in a €142 million deal in January 2018, however, the Brazil star has struggled to cement his spot in Barcelona's starting XI.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a Premier League return via Chelsea and Manchester United, while Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested.

Asked about his future, Coutinho – on international duty with Brazil at the Copa America – told reporters: "I have a contract with Barcelona, it was always my will to succeed in this club, but now I am totally concentrated here [with Brazil] and about the future [with Barca] we do not know what will happen."Many things that come out in the media are simply not true but as for my future we do not know what is going to happen, that is the truth."

Coutinho only managed five La Liga goals in 34 appearances as Barca retained their crown in 2018-19, with 12 of his league outings coming from the bench. The former Inter attacker was also targeted by Barca fans, who jeered Coutinho on several occasions last season.

"Honestly, it wasn't a good season. It didn't produce what I wanted, it didn't go as I hoped," Coutinho told reporters."But I hope it serves me as an example, as a lesson so that I want more, concentrate even more to be able to succeed.""Here with the national team there's always the same responsibility: showing the right commitment to be able to play," he said.

"Whether a good or bad season it doesn't change anything: the desire to win is always the same, or maybe even more so."Neymar has been linked with a return to Barca after leaving the Spanish giants for PSG in a world-record €222m deal in 2017, while Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann is reportedly keen on a move to Camp Nou.

"It's clear that the arrival of big names is always good for a squad that wants to win," added Coutinho, whose Brazil will face Paraguay in the Copa America quarter-finals.

Juventus close to handing Cuadrado contract extension until 2021

Juventus are in contact with Juan Cuadrado regarding a contract extension which would see him remain at the club until 2021.The Colombian’s current deal expires in 2020 but he could sign a one-year extension in the coming weeks, Goal can confirm, as the Serie A champions look to keep hold of the versatile midfielder despite his injury problems.

New Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri does not want to lose the former Chelsea man, who can be deployed either in an attacking sense or as a more defensive wide man, and is making the contract extension one of his first decisions as boss.

News of a contract extension with the Old Lady will quell rumours of an upcoming transfer for Cuadrado with Inter, AC Milan, Sevilla and Valencia all reportedly interested in a move.Cuadrado himself spoke out in order to quieten the transfer rumours surrounding him in November 2018, telling Marca : “I think only of Juventus and to reach the goals we have set ourselves.”

The 31-year-old underwent knee surgery in December 2018 after suffering an injury in a Champions League game against BSC Young Boys, and struggled for match fitness during the second half of the season with the Old Lady unwilling to rush his recovery.Cuadrado made 18 appearances in Serie A last season, scoring just one goal in November against Cagliari.

His versatility saw him never used in one single position by previous manager Massimiliano Allegri, who opted to deploy the Colombian in central midfield, on the right wing and at right-back in the absence of Joao Cancelo.

He has never been relied on for goals by the Italian giants, scoring just 14 in 137 games, but his willingness to work for the team and endless running have convinced Sarri to ensure he remains at the club for an extra season. The former Fiorentina man originally moved to Turin on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea in August 2015, with the move becoming permanent for €20 million (£18m/$23m) in May 2017.

The Colombia international has played a part in all three of his country's wins at the Copa America so far, as they prepare to face holders Chile in the quarter-finals on Friday evening.

Buffon close to sensational Juventus return with Perin set to depart

Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon is set to make a sensational return to the club after announcing his Paris Saint-Germain departure. The 41-year-old left the Serie A champions at the end of his contract in June 2018 after 17 years with the club, opting to move to France and sign a one-year deal with PSG.

He recently announced his intention to leave Paris , despite being offered a contract extension, and Goal can confirm that the Italian is set to make an unexpected return to Juventus.

Buffon’s return will see him act as back-up to first-choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny, whose stock has increased after cementing his place as one of Serie A’s finest between the sticks.Although the move seemed unthinkable only a few days ago, the Italian’s relationship with Juventus club president Andrea Agnelli has helped to push the move through with Buffon having already agreed a one-year contract.

The move will be made official once the future of current back-up goalkeeper Mattia Perin has been decided, with the 26-year-old expected to leave the club this summer amid interest from Roma and Sevilla.Buffon still feels he has something to offer at the highest level after leaving PSG with a Ligue 1 winners' medal, and will possibly look at moving into management when he decides to call an end to his playing days.

The World Cup winner is not the only man who donned a PSG shirt last season who Juventus are interested in bringing to Turin this summer, however, with midfielder Adrien Rabiot high on the club’s transfer target list.

The France international was suspended by the club in December and has been linked with a move to various top European clubs, including Barcelona and Manchester United as a result, but sources close to the deal have told Goal that the Old Lady are confident of completing a deal .The central midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of June, and Juventus are offering him a deal worth €7 million (£6m/$8m) per season, excluding any additional bonuses.

The Serie A champions are looking to move forward with transfer targets swiftly during the summer transfer window, having appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new coach on June 16.
