Man Utd 3-2 Liverpool: Bruno Fernandes free-kick settles pulsating FA Cup fourth-round tie

Twelve minutes later, Fabinho gave United a chance with the clock winding down after fouling Cavani on the edge of the box.The Brazil international avoided a second yellow card but Fernandes would carry out the ultimate punishment. The Portugal midfielder pulled rank and buried his 28th goal for United to provide a classic FA Cup tie with the match-winning strike it deserved.

He will be replaced by Tuchel, with Goal understanding that a verbal agreement as been in place between Chelsea and their incoming manager for a couple of days before the news of Lampard's departure became public.Chelsea confirmed Lampard's exit on Monday morning with owner Roman Abramovich making an unprecedented statement, with Tuchel expected to be appointed in the next 24 hours.
Lampard led Chelsea to a 3-1 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup on Sunday, but the club's Premier League form has led to growing concerns.The 42-year-old achieved a top-four finish last season, which was deemed impressive having taken over when the club were under a transfer ban.
However, this season Chelsea spent £220 million ($275m) on new signings to try and close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.It hasn't worked, with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz suffering prolonged periods of poor form under their new manager while Chelsea's performances as a team were increasingly getting worse.
Club chairman Bruce Buck watched on with technical and performance advisor Petr Cech as Leicester City ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Lampard's side in their most recent league fixture. The loss to Brendan Rodgers' men was just the latest of a series of defeats against the Premier League's best teams, which recently included reverses against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Chelsea have only beaten West Ham of the top 11 clubs this season, while picking up the second-lowest number of points at this stage of a season since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.Lampard earned 1.67 points per match in the league, which is the lowest of any manager appointed since Abramovich bought Chelsea.
The former England midfielder had been open to continuing but the decision was taken out of his hands by those higher up. Former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund boss Tuchel is set to be the man to come in to Stamford Bridge, following his sacking by Ligue 1 champions PSG just before Christmas.
Tuchel, who has been angling himself for the role, could be the right man to get the most out of both Werner and Havertz, as well as Christian Pulisic who was brought through Dortmund's academy.
Meanwhile, Lampard's legendary status remains intact and many Chelsea fans would have been happy to see him continue. A display had been planned for the Shed End part of the stadium, urging Chelsea to stick with their all-time record scorer, with 211 goals, and manager.
Lampard previously managed Derby County after retiring from a glorious playing career that saw him win the Champions League and three Premier League titles.

The contest was essentially decided after just 79 seconds as 18-year-old Alex Jankewitz, on his full Premier League debut, saw red for a high, horror tackle on Scott McTominay, prompting Saints to capitulate.
Two of United's first-half goals came from Luke Shaw's pinpoint left-wing deliveries - first, Aaron Wan-Bissaka turned home at the far post (18), before Marcus Rashford struck from 12 yards from Mason Greenwood's cut-back (25).
Rashford's dangerous ball was then turned into his own net by Jan Bednarek (34), and Edinson Cavani then got in on the act with a fine header into the far corner from another brilliant Shaw ball (39).
Sub Anthony Martial got his first goal in eight appearances with a superb control and finish from a tight angle (69), while McTominay got in on the act with a controlled, long-range effort (71).
Bruno Fernandes scored a late penalty as Bednarek saw red for a last-man foul on Martial (88), then the France international got his second with a close-range effort (90), and Dan James rounded it off with a stoppage-time finish (90+3).
It's the second time Ralph Hasenhuttl has been on the wrong end of a 9-0 defeat in the Premier League with Saints, following their infamous defeat at the hands of Leicester last season. United last won a match by this margin in March 1995 vs Ipswich Town (9-0), and have now scored more goals than any Premier League side this season (46).
The result means United go level on points with Man City for 24 hours at least, having played two more games than their Manchester rivals, who go to Burnley on Wednesday evening. United are, however, four points ahead of Liverpool having played a game more, while Saints are 12th having lost their last four.

They were the better team, with Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling excellent, but the game turned on two extraordinary mistakes from Alisson in the 73rd and 76th minutes. City go five points clear of Manchester United with a game in hand; they will take some catching now.
