BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION FOR SALE
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of the British Government is selling its prestigious High Commission building in Colombo, Sri Lanka, through an expression of interest campaign to be conducted by Savills.
Savills’ Ben Azar said Savills won the job after selling the Australian Embassy in June 2007 for around $4.9m.
The unique waterfront site of 10,977 square metres has an 81.7 metre frontage to the Indian Ocean and comes complete with a seven-storey commercial building of about 3000 sq m, large front and rear garden compound, tennis court, swimming pool and ancillary structures.
The property is at 190 Gallen Road Colombo 03, in an area well established with foreign embassies, government establishments, multi-national corporate offices, five-star hotels and shopping centres.
Opposite is the Presidential Palace (Temple Trees).
Sources expect the selling price to be circa $9.5-10 million.
