Free will and determinism.

    im confused , my point is we dont have much of a handle about our choices we make in our lives since we are abide by rules of civilization ,

    nope. that's not the definition. determinism says every action and thought we take and think are predetermined according to physical laws. Atoms behave according to a certain set of laws. we are made of atoms including our mind. (note that this philosophical position reduces mind to a process which arises due to chemical reactions among cells). Therefore every decision we take are predetermined according to these laws. Me writing this comment was already predetermined 1000 years ago.

    Free will is the contrary. Our choices aren't predetermined and we can will whatever we want. No physical law determines what we are going to think next.

    oh i certainly misunderstood.
    that definition seems little extreme to me,kind of like the butterfly effect ..
    simply put a person in a free society has no free will but not for the reasons that you have mentioned above ,:yes: ( free will extends beyond thinking)
