Rocksteady Will Need A New Batman Writer

    bac8.17610.jpg

If Warner Bros. and Rocksteady develop another Batman title in the "Arkham" game universe, award-winning comic writer Paul Dini won't be part of it.

Dini, who worked on Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, will not be back for a possible third game. He said on Twitter he was not working on another Arkham game. He later wrote a blog post explaining the situation.

“The last talk I had with Warner Interactive about future games was while I was doing promotion for Arkham City last September,” he explained. “Naturally as there was such a rush of interest about Arkham City, everyone was asking me about a third game, and frankly, I had been wondering about that myself.

“When I asked about the possibility of working on a third game I was told that as Rocksteady had just finished wrapping the second one, it would be a while before everyone was ready to sit down and discuss future plans. That said, it was intimated that for future games, Warner and Rocksteady might not be looking as much to freelance writers, the message being, that if had something else interesting coming my way, I might want to take it.”

Dini later explained that after the announcement of the Harley Quinn's Revenge download content and the rumored Arkham prequel, he figured Warner Bros. had filled their writer needs and found other work. He says he won’t be able to take on any new projects until 2013 at the earliest.

“It was fun working with Warners and Rocksteady on the first two Arkham games and I am grateful to them both for a tremendous experience,” Dini added. “Rocksteady has a great crew of artists and storytellers, and it was exciting and enlightening for me to be part of that team. If we wind up working together again at some point, that would be cool, too.”

    Codemasters Unveils Grid 2

    grid28.8.122610.jpg

Original Story: When Codemasters released Grid back in 2008, racers immediately dialed into the game's tuned-for-fun handling, multi-discipline approach, and innovative Flashback feature (which has since been adopted by just about every racer out there). With all due respect to Codemasters' other racing series since then like F1 and Dirt, we've been anxiously waiting for the Grid franchise to return – and in 2013 it will.

Judging by the first trailer for the game below, it looks like we can expect all of the series' staples to return with a slick new sheen that Codemasters has been perfecting since we last saw the series. Fierce competition, different racing series, and a mix of real and fictional tracks from around the world will be just the tip of the iceberg.

According to CVG, Flashbacks will return, albeit in a new way, and multiplayer (which includes split-screen) will be separate from single-player – complete with its own progression system and usage of Codemasters' RaceNet.

We're also curious if the original title's career format where you hire drivers and court sponsors will also return, and if so, in what form.

A lot has happened in the video game racing world since Grid impressively made its mark, and we can't wait to see how Codemasters hopes to move things forward once again with this title.
