Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game Announced

Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game Announced

Forthcoming Transformers flick Dark of the Moon is getting a videogame tie-in, publisher Activision has confirmed.

The game of the same name is a scene-setting prologue story that will see you making a royal mess of Detroit, the jungles of South America and Siberia, among other locales. There's online play promised too and a new gameplay mechanic called Stealth Force.

High Moon Studios – the same team behind last year's solid robo dust-up War for Cybertron – will tackle the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, while Naughty Bear/Wet dev Behaviour Interactive is working on "distinct" 3DS, DS and Wii titles.

"We couldn't be more excited to expand on the epic movie universe in the Transformers: Dark of the Moon game, and allow fans to experience the gripping events and backstories that occur right before the upcoming film," said Activision marketing man Paul Wright.

"The immensely talented group at High Moon Studios are huge fans of the property, and they are thrilled to unveil some new characters from the movie while introducing Stealth Force gameplay that lets players convert to a third form beyond robot and vehicle modes to defeat their enemies in more ways than ever before."

    Mirror’s Edge 2 Cancelled

    :(Mirror’s Edge 2 Cancelled:(

Innovation is a precarious proposition; at times rewarded handsomely and at others dispelled without a second thought. This is one of those ‘others’ situations. According to reports surfacing today, EA has stopped development on Mirror’s Edge 2.

The publisher was shown a working prototype by DICE and subsequently declined to move forward with the sequel. The dev team that had been working on the Mirror’s Edge follow up has now been shifted to other projects.

Late last year, EA boss Frank Gibeau commented on the lackluster reception garnered by the original game: “There were issues with the learning curve, the difficulty, the narrative, and then there was no multiplayer either.”

    :(:(:(

BATMAN : ARKHAM CITY NO MULTIPLAYER!

Rocksteady Studios bataranged rumors that Arkham City might include some sort of online co-op in an interview with IGN today.

“There have been a number of rumors circulating about a multiplayer mode in Batman: Arkham City so let me start by saying, once and for all, that Batman: Arkham City is a ’single-player only’ experience,” Rocksteady Game Director Sefton Hill said.

The rumors started with a suspiciously disjointed video that circulated the Internet depicting Batman and the Joker teaming up to dust some chumps. Many (including myself) speculated that, if authentic, this would likely be some sort of co-op beat ‘em up mode. As it turns out that’s not the case, and is not for a specific reason.

“Our thought process behind this was fairly simple: when we investigated adding multiplayer we asked, “If we use all of the energy that is required to create multiplayer and instead focus this on the single player, would that deliver a better overall game?” Hill said. “With the game now coming to the final stages, I can honestly say it would not have been possible to deliver Arkham City the way we wanted to if we’d have added multiplayer.”

A statement like that takes some balls in today’s single-player averse environment. Here’s hoping it doesn’t bite them in the ass when the game hits store shelves this Fall.
