පස්සේ මම Leagoo ෆෝන් එකකුත් ඔර්ඩර් කරා මේ ලඟදි..Netherlands Post එකේ ට්‍රැකින් නම්බර් එක ගහල බැලුවහම නම් පෙන්නනවා එක දැන් ලංකාවට ඇවිල්ල කියල...බඩු එයි මම හිතන්නේ..

කොයි එකටත් පරිස්සම් වෙන එක හොඳයි..

I won't say these are scams. I have ordered 10+ items worth over $1000 from geekbuying and gearbest and every single item arrived in perfect orders.
The issue here is that people don't have experience doing business with chinese websites and people in general. Not only these two sites, but there are hundreds of other sites which do the same type of business.
Few things to note:
Copyright and unethical marketing is not seriously considered as an issues as it might be in other parts of the world.
To appeal to western markets, they have a customer service with people who go by female English names like Sarah, Rachel. But in reality these are just ordinary chinese people.
Their primary target markets are India, Eastern Europe, Russia and central Africa.
Think of these sites as whole cities, like Pettah, where hundreds of thousands of people buy items everyday. Problems are bound to happen.

So, would gearbest or geekbuying scam you?
Yes, they would, but it is very unlikely they would NOT send ordered items.
They may delay your order because of stock issues, they may offer you coupons to swap items, but still it is unlikely they would outright scam you buy not sending an item.
How do I know this? Because I have ordered goods from them, and my friends too and never had an issue.

So how did I avoid issues?

Develop a relationship with a customer care guy (of course they have english female names) and get to know them. Keep replying to a single thread and develop a relationship. Before you buy something, ask them through email whether it is in stock and ask when they can ship it.
Chinese poeple are good at heart, they wont cheat someone you know personally, from my experience. Dont forget to wish for the new year and their birthdays.
My personal experience, when I inquired about elephone p9000 a few months ago, my friend sent me a messsage telling me not to buy it as the company was having issues. Even the presale has ended, but the phone is still in stock notice. I dont know whether those who ordered will ever get the phone.
Bad luck!

Also if you have an issue, you can always rely on paypal! paypal wot give it's payment gateways to a scam right?

So finally, what i have to say is that it is not a scam, but a site with issues that can be managed. They get millions of orders a month,so a few can always go wrong. If that happens, just contact them in professional language.
All said, please don't compare this with ebay. E bay is a step ahead in terms of security.
