When you are in deep sleep state, there is a possibility of your astral body to go away from your physical body and to move around the world. Because it is more powerful than our physical body.

Sometimes it may go to the future ... That's why sometimes you feel like dejavu'
Like.. This has happened before neh kinda feeling when something happens...

When the Astral body fits back to your physical body you feel it sometimes. That's when you wake up suddenly with a podi gassillak ekka, like I told earlier...

Interesting discussion, and I think this is the best thread I have seen in the history of EK.

I am going to use two great philosophies to answer the questions whether there are ghosts and aliens.

Aliens
Scientifically, there as pessimistic and optimistc theories of extra-terrestrial life forms. According to calculations of pesimisstic theory there have to be 2-3 planets with life forms similar to Earth in Milky way galaxy. When optimistic theory used it rises up to 20,000. Now we get the question why we cannot communicate with them. First reason is the distance. Alpha Centauri is 4.3 light years away. So two way message will take 8.6 years to get a reply. Farthest corners of the galaxy is about 20,000 ly away. So it will take 40,000 years for us to receive answer for our message.
Secondly, if that civilization is about 1,000 years behind us, they'll not have radio equpments or telescopes to detect us. If they are million years ahead of us, our communication methods will be obsolete and will not be detected.

Then the question comes, what science define as life. Current scientists belive it's a carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen compounds make up the life. But there are few bacteria where sulfur has relace oxygen. Hypothesis further extended that there may be Silicon based organisms as Silicon is the cousin of Carbon. But can it end there? That is when we need another knowledge base to answer that question.

As I can remember C-H-O-N bonds will break in really high & low temperatures ryt??
So that means you cant have biological extra-terristrial life forms in those kinds of temperature.. ?

Definitely the environment should be similar to our earth.

This is a extract from "Loweda Sangarawa". This denotes the Buddhist perspective of life. There can be life without matter! Creatures based on energy! Western scientists have theories about this, but Lord Buddha preached same thing 2600 years back. According to him, there are six heavens, four hells, one human world, four "Arupawachara" brahma worlds and one "Rupawachara" brahma world. Then Buddhism hints about parerall univereses and life forms in parerall universes as well. All these worlds and life forms are invisible to human eye. They can be only seen by Arhats.

Ghosts
In "Pretha Waththu" chapter of Tipitaka, Buddha describes various forms of ghosts. But he very clearly states that they cannot be seen by lay people, but only by Arhats and others who achieved "Dhyana"

All in all, aliens are possible, we have not seen them. But we may never see them as well, if they are creatures of energy. Ghosts are not rejected by Buddhism, but the pictutures are hoax according to it, as ghosts cannot be seen by normal people.

Yes that is a possibility. But if we find aliens or find that we are alone in the universe will result in same outcome.

If we are alone in the universe, life is so precious. Then we can set aside ll our differences and unite. If there are aliens, then there is apossibility of an invasion. Then also we must set aside all diffrences and unite!
