I don't think it was any better than Pedators (with Adrian Brody). There was plenty wrong. Messaging was as predicated by many. Girl proves she's as capable as the men and tribe needs to change its backwards customs. Still this recent addition was entertaining. But the immersion factor was upended by the decision to have the Comanche using English, the women wearing noticeable make up, cgi was pretty bad, and as I had predicted Naru's male counterparts merely props for the Predator to easily dispatch and her to prove that she's as good as the men. To add, there was some pretty bad acting and goofy dialogue as well. And they didn't set Naru up enough to handily defeat the Predator in the end, especially as he had just easily dispatched about 30 men that had guns. Also the sacrifice in the end by the brother seemed overly forced and to serve no purpose except setting her up to be the "war chief" in the final scene. Last, the Predator seemed very inconsistent in his abilities and exhibited a more primal behavior, like killing snakes and canines? Why lol. He was nearly defeated by the bear that almost ate Naru when he decided to fist fight it lol? But then later he easily kills skilled warriors and a small army with rifles. Maybe this makes sense in the context of it being a young and inexperienced Predator, but there was no indication that was the case. All in all pretty entertaining but not without its flaws.

Nathan Tustin Dangerous to whom? A vastly evolved species from another planet? The movie forces the notion that Predators don't kill what isn't a threat to them. A snake is a threat to the Predator? A wolf? The Predator goes out of his way to make himself a threat to things that otherwise wouldn't have even bothered him. All of the animals would likely flee from the Predator in a situation where they encountered it. I'll grant you he's making trophies out species on a foreign planet, but let's not kid ourselves that these things are dangerous to a 9ft alien with the strength and speed of five men and also brandished with highly advanced technology. What kills me is the decision to fist fight a grizzly bear lol.
It's my understanding the director of the movie created this new sub-species of Predator. So, as far as I know, they aren't even canon. I also understand what you're saying is also what the director said, but Naru "learns" how to use alien technology in a less than a couple of minuets, which seems silly. The whole learning angle of the movie was poorly executed, and if it was to be applied to the Predator it was also poorly executed. The Predator is injured by the wolf and nearly fatally injured by the bear giving the impression that the Predator is inexperienced. Then, he kills like 30 men with guns easily. No problem. I just didn't get a consistent feel for how I was supposed to see and understand this Predator.
But hey it wasn't bad. Couldn't been a lot worse for sure.

The predator tech is also not as advanced as in other movies. That's why natives are more competitive against the predator.
That tech in the movie is more than enough to fight a bunch of uneducated weddas wielding bows and arrows...
Adaptive camouflage alone should have been enough to handle them...
