*Tbills - better than FD but still net gain would be minus given higher inflation (And often banks are not offering their TBs to public either and they keep it for themselves)
*Gold - Probably the best option but it should be a medium to long term option
*Physical foreign money - Good option (USD)
*Crypto - BTC (not altcoins) is an option but it is very high risk; maybe a smaller part of the portfolio could be BTC

Agree with this a 100%. With a global recession around the corner, the most vital thing is to try and preserve the value of your money, without worrying too much about any gains.

Fix Deposits are useless as long as the real interest rates (FD rate - Inflation rate) are negative.

Gold does not seem too overpriced in SL, when compared to the actual dollar value of a Stirling pound.


24 karat gold, price per gram internationally (approximate): 60 USD

24 karat gold, price per 'Pauma' (pound Stirling) : 60 x 8 = 480 USD

At around Rs370 per USD, 24 karat gold price: Rs.177,600
At around Rs400 per USD, 24 karat gold price: Rs.192,000

Is there any gold available to buy at around Rs.180,000 - 200,000 per pound (note that this example is for 24 karat, not 22)? I am not sure.
