1st of all, nt all private media machan. derana n swarnavahini a kinda balanced rather dan rupavahini, itn, tnl and SIRASA.

machan rupavahini is the government channel. so it has to support the present government. it also supported ranil in 2004.. :)

agreed on swarnavahini being relatively unbiased..but derana is far from being unbiased.....

State media are public property run by the people's taxes...not by anyone else's money.....this goes either way for SLFP or UNP

if we go by your theory then do all the government employees have to support the government & no one else??

as the public media is run by the people's tax money unlike in china or North korea where state media are funded by the communist party, they don't have a right to praise & worship 1 candidate & sling mud & abuse at the other....

this has to stop...but private media can decide who they can support since it's ther own private investment with no liabilities to the public
