Let's discuss GPS maps and products available for Sri Lanka..

It's much needed service yet I think we are not up to the level in that field yet..

For example my cousin bought a Tomtom 510 GPS device with worldwide coverage but later found out tomtom doesn't have GPS maps for Sri Lanka..

Waze, Google maps are exempted because those require a data connection for the map and navigation, let's concentrate on offline GPS maps for Sri Lanka which can be used to navigate offline just with GPS signal either on their own device or in an iOS/android app..

Pls share your experiences and knowledge on this matter..

Google maps are the most accurate and most detailed maps I have ever seen. They provide considerably accurate traffic information too.

True google maps are the best.. But offline navigation not supported.. Imagine going on a trip to some mountain area and loosing signal and getting lost..

You can use Openstreet maps with Garmin. I heard that it is harder to port OSM to tom tom. But navitel, Garmin and many software are available for navigation which works with OSM. I'm using garmin winCE with OSM. Maps are upto date.
