dude without knowing whats goin on don't complain, bikes never come to Drags and at drags there are no bystanders too, also Street Racing is in SL for frekn 15 yrs,

Because it was there for 15 years makes it right? I hope you know that it is illegal too :P ? I know it is not new, infact I once came too close to one myself. I don't know where you race or how you do it, but not everyone is careful. Once I almost crashed in to two idiots racing down marine drive.

u got a point there, there are two types of people, one only Race at GP and drive like gentleman on normal roads, there are lot more idiots think after they fix a loud exhaust to their car, after fix a big spoiler they own roads and they are Racing, well everyday when i drive on roads either pimped up maruti, honda or some other ricers come rev behind me, honk and do their best to force me to race with them in traffic, but i let them go and then day after someone call me and say " dude i heard a mruti beat u yesterday" lol,

what we do is we drive safe on public roads and only at GP we test and do Drags, GP is 400meter stretch with 100meter braking distance, unlace someone do hand brake turns or brake without shift down or mechanical failure there are very less possibility of crashing, marine drive is not safe at all even for speeding

I'm not pointing any fingers at you, don't take it personally, ok ??.. LOL..

But as you said, there are some who drive recklessly, whatever racing done on the streets is considered street racing, that is why I am against it. I don't know how you guys do it at Green Path, if there are adequate warnings to let others know that there is a race, then I guess its ok. I mean as long as you guys don't put innocent ppl at risk I don't mind.

no machan i dont take it personally, anyway we are the 2nd generation Racers but even us very disappointed abt the 3rnd generation Racers,

i didnt want to tell but now i have to, when two cars do a properer Drag at GP few bikers wait and they also jump to the middle with their bikes and trey to squeeze from the middle and win, think how risky it is,

But there are lot more people who try to race at public roads in traffic and that cause the issues, those need to be stopped

in GP ppl are racing in a very short distance, not like those circuit races you hv seen in films and games, driving through traffic with various techniques while putting the crowd at risk. in GP they race in a one way road with no other roads being connected at the middle. and races are started when there are no traffic vehicles on the road. so theres is a very small possibility to crash into a traffic vehicle.

street races can be found at most big cities around the world. But in sl, they are doing only drag races in less crowded roads.I have seen school boys driving "super cars" who dont even have licean and trying to fly over the traffic blocks. they need to be stopped before drags in sl. cos there are a lot of school boys who's dad's have bought the police department shares are driving without proper training or license. there are uneducated bus drivivers doing drag races in the galle road and killing innocent people on the crossing line.

Drag racing is a competition in which vehicles compete to be the first to cross a set finish line, usually from a standing start, and in a straight line. First gaining popularity in the USA after World War II (1945), the sport steadily grew in popularity and spread across the globe. By 2009, there were hundreds of drag strips in operation, mainly in developed countries.

Most drag races begin with a standing (stationary) start and are just 1/4 mile long (1320 feet). Races last between 3.9 and 17 seconds, with finishing speeds ranging from 80 to over 330 miles per hour (530 km/h), depending upon the type of vehicle being used.

As of July 2009, the world record for a 1/4 mile standing start pass is 4.428 seconds set by Tony Schumacher. Schumacher also broke the world speed record in 2005 at Brainerd, MN.

I know about drag racing and all that stuff. I was referring to street racing in general, and drag racing done on public open roads (i.e marine drive). As I said before, as long as it is done safely, I'm OK. But the problem is, more often than not, those who like to race (drag or otherwise) have a natural tendency to drive fast even when they are on normal roads; again I'm not saying they all do. GihanFX said he drives responsibly, so there are few exceptions. But in my personal experience, most of the modified cars I've seen on Sri Lankan roads were driven fast.

Don't get me wrong, I love super cars, speed and all that. And one day I want to drive one very fast on a track. But I can't stand when guys with modified cars (mostly exterior mods, not real engine mods) driving fast like they own the road, just to show off.

yes machan, i agree with some of your points. somehow races done on public streets cannot be considered as 100% safe. But what i said is, in GP, its much more safer. maybe there could be a bigger risk involved when you cross the galle road in a crossing line, you could get hit by a bus. cos they drive like they own the road, they think their veihicle is bigger and safer for them. so they believe that those smaller vehicles like cars should stop when ever there is a bus present in the scene and should clear the way for them.. its a very rare occassion a bus driver slow down when they see a car trying to cross the street..

when you drive at an avarage speed on sl roads, sometimes those SUVs , specially those monteros coming from behind will sound their horn continuously while peeping from all around your car like they are being chased by someone. and i have seen some of those aholes even drive while putting headlights and double signals turned on as well! they believe they own the roads, when they have a SUV like montero.

and machan, maybe people you see in the day time, tring to fly on the roads could not be going to drags in the GP. but that doesnt mean everyone in the GP are decent drivers. maybe there could be aholes in GP as well. there could be aholes anywhere. in the drag strip or in the day time driving in the galle road.
