I found an old hard drive(IDE) and when i connected it as a slave the operating system says "found new hardware " "installed and ready t use".But I cant acces the disk.It is not displayed in the My computer window. But the drive is listed in "device manager" as a properly working device.Any idea of acessing the data in this drive??Thanks in advance

ok. when the pc boots press del button. then u will enter a setup screen. there go to the hard disk configurations tab. there check and see if u can see ur 40GB hard disk. if its there and that means its already detected. then just press esc and press F10 and enter. and it will boot again and go to windows.

machan, not sure wat it is. Bt u should try this. Go to disk management by right clicking "my computer" & selecting "mange" option. Then check whether ur new HDD shows in there. If it shows in there, right click on it & check if there's a "initialize" option, do it. (Umba kiyala thiyena eke hatiyata nam mayb this will work)
