When u really can have several partitions....y put all your eggs in one basket...???? ;)
More partitions = more wastage

Looks at this scenario.
Say you have 10 partitions, and 3GB free space in each partition. You have 30GB free space, right? Ok, now try to copy a 4.7GB DVD to the hard disk. You can't! You have 30GB free space, and still you can't copy 4.7GB DVD. :P

primary is a Maxtor 80 GB- has 2 partitions
the other one is a Seagate 80 GB with 1 partition
So total = 160 GB :D bet u cudnt calculate that

I only have a 40GB with 4 partitions (10GB each). so I'm low on space :(

Hmm well i will have 2 agree to that...But if one of your partitions get corrupted due to a virus or something (especially viruses corrupting the MBR) the loss is minimized...but that wont apply 2 u coz u dont get viruses....:D

Having more partitions is not the solution to it.
You need to back your data up! PERIOD!
