    Where I'm now
All you people know there are two HD media formats known as HD-DVD(from the toshiba side) and Blu-Ray(from the sony side). This went on in the last year and it seems that the war is ending as a biggest fish in the HD-DVD side Toshiba gave it up and soon the companies are going to Blu-Ray.But in newegg you can se that hybrid drives go at 230 USD,which is so cheap considering the drives came out with either one was nearly 1000USD at first.

Here are copy pastes from me to show what happened in last few days..Sources will be given below.:P :P
Toshiba to Give Up on HD DVD
Following closely on the heels of news that both Netflix and Wal-Mart plan to drop HD DVD support, it looks like Toshiba, one of the key firms behind the format, is planning to do the same. A company source is being reported as saying:
We have entered the final stage of planning to make our exit from the next generation DVD business.
An official announcement is expected to come within the next few days, and it is estimated that the move could see Toshiba suffer losses of hundreds of millions of dollars. This is likely to put an end to the HD format war, with Blu-ray, backed largely by Sony, looking almost certain to overcome HD DVD, which had powerful names including Toshiba and Microsoft supporting it.

    Update: Toshiba denies the reports:
"The media reported that Toshiba will discontinue its HD DVD business. Toshiba has not made any announcement concerning this. Although Toshiba is currently assessing its business strategies, no decision has been made at this moment."

Toshiba Responds to HD DVD Claims
Toshiba has responded to claims that it plans to give up on the HD DVD format with a rather half-hearted statement that seems to neither confirm nor deny the speculation. The firm released a statement saying:
The media reported that Toshiba will discontinue its HD DVD business. Toshiba has not made any announcement concerning this. Although Toshiba is currently assessing its business strategies, no decision has been made at this moment.
However, it certainly doesn’t sound like a strong denial given that Toshiba at no point gives any indication that it is still backing the format. So there may be a slight glimmer of hope for HD DVD owners, but things still look rather bleak.

Toshiba Announces Discontinuation of HD DVD Businesses TOKYO--Toshiba Corporation today announced that it has undertaken a thorough review of its overall strategy for HD DVD and has decided it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. This decision has been made following recent major changes in the market. Toshiba will continue, however, to provide full product support and after-sales service for all owners of Toshiba HD DVD products.full story

Universal Studios to Begin Putting Titles on Blu-ray
The HD-DVD camp put up the white flag just a few days ago. Now what? Universal Studios has an answer to that question: everyone goes Blu-ray. They're very happy to begin that movement. As of now, everything coming out of Universal Studios' doors will be in Blu-ray, if it's in high-def. While Universal values the close partnership we have shared with Toshiba, it is time to turn our focus to releasing new and catalog titles on Blu-ray. The path for widespread adoption of the next-generation platform has finally become clear. Universal will continue its aggressive efforts to broaden awareness for high-def’s unparalleled offerings in interactivity and connectivity, at an increasingly affordable price. The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate

    Where I'm now
Now in my point of view.
I remebered 3 years ago there were only few DVD burners only the Pioneer ones.Started at 21000 Rs.Then like 2 years ago came to 15000(My friend bought one and cried after 6-8 months :P) now for as low as 4250 you can get a highest speed DVD burner supports all CD/DVD formats + Burning+Lightscribe. For 5250 you can get an ASUS one which is the highest one.
This will happen soon to Blu-ray.It came at 1000 USD.When the war is going to loose by HD-DVD they came with $200 players.for 230$ u can get a LG hybrid drive. Now in the dawn of next year we will be seeing <100$ Blu-ray drives.Since Networking advanced and have great speeds, soon we will see blu-ray rips in piratebay.org :D
