I think your country is so fortunate to have leaders that have involved themselves so much from the music, to the flag of the country itself, hopefully your current president will be as successfull as the good leader C.T. Fernando was in the 1970's.

Does he also make music?
hmmm yeh i guess so. he seems to be a big fab of Akon. you know Akon right? :)

he was so humble that he didnt want em to add the real description about him.
he is the modest person ive ever seen :)

Oh yes, I suppose despite him being dead since 1977, he didn't want Wikipedia users to add his real description =S - because clearly Wikipedia has been around since the 1970's.

Nice try, but your peers have foiled your folly but subtle plans to render me void.

yeh have you noticed there's more of yellow color? that represents the reggae with sri lankan drum beats and stuff.

hell yeh he definitely would have been proud. In early 70's the presidents only hope was to bring Bob marley to Sri Lanka.. but he never succeeded.

now president Mahinda Rajapakshe a.k.a King is looking forward to bring another hip hop artist named Akon. may be along with some other reggae artists

ah you're welcome :)

Hey guys, a new member here. I was born in Sri Lanka, but haven't lived there, I'm just wondering why

1) So much changed after the British left, and why the country was renamed from Ceylon?

2) The Tamils live mainly in the north and the Singhalese people in the south?

And how come the flag is so colourful, it looks like a tribute to Bob Marley.

Cheers

I reckon the older flag looks better, don't you reckon? When it was known as Ceylon.

In the attic...
well.....a lil skull and bones on a flag never hurt anyone.....:P

R-girl for president?....

anywho assuming this magicks person is legit....

1) Ceylon sounds tacky....like some nick name....we prefer the name Sri Lanka....coz it sounds more regal.....

2) No Tamils, Sinhalese, Christians and Muslims are more or less evenly distributed within sri lanka....

3) And the flag is colorful to represent all the different factions within sri lanka....the lion + sword on the flag is there to show we that we can open a can of whoop ass anything we feel like it....:oo:

and no the former "Ceylon" flag looks....gay....and it doesn't show case any of the identities of this Paradise Island......:love:
