Well i think its a good oppotunity for da ppl hu get selected 2build up their personality and face da responsibilties, while adjusting their own behaviour so dat they set an example 4 others.
Many other positive oppotunities are given (i only mentioned a few), and a school is da only and BEST place dat can give dis experience b4 dat person steps in2 da real world.

Other students (juniors) will also want 2b a prefect and start workin harder in order 2achieve it, thus a positive impact is made on them aswel.

ok now since you are dead serious here you go lol by my common sense whch most believe is zero in the scale

it is important because since prefects are also part of students seeing them behaving and keeping rules could help rest of the students and all to keep theirselves from violating the regulations and rules of the school from common mistakes ...so they can have some descipline and peace around so things would be under control in your school ..

being a prefect is a good opportunity in the life.not to show off ur self but to build ur personality,leadership and all.most of the students apply for for prefects coz the want to be special among others.but it should not be the real reason.
