    So, I am doing A/L Maths.....:dull:
Do I have explain more?:P Full upset...Next year I have to sit for the exam and still I even can't do a trigonometry sum properly!

So, I have understood that continuing with the A/L will be a useless thing if I ended up with 3F :(

My whole life is filled with Internet and computer...full of IT IT IT....IT!!
So, I have the confidence that I could succeed if I go with IT related path and I love the field of networking...

    SO, friends...just give your suggestions....
Currently, I have a plan to do a HND in computing and move on to a degree..will it be useful?

Its time for me to arrive at a conclusion....Need your help...Advice me.

    I could really do A/L if I work hard, I know...but, I don't like to work hard for a thing that I don't like.

you're going to need some parts of A/L maths for IT as well. Statistics, Logic, etc.
Besides, getting a job without A/Ls is going to be hard so do your A/Ls in any stream you're comfortable in.

Your old parents who still fund you, may not even last long, to see you failing ALs next year, when the life is as unpredictable as a flip of a coin. You are an 18 year old adult, you know what you are so always follow your own wisdom. When I too was just 6 months into that boring ALs, I got bored to the bone, and wanted to do a degree, but had all sort of pandithayas pushing me to still try ALs. Obviously you cannot do something, you do not like, so I just ended up with 3Cs and felt, 2 years was wasted for bullshit.

Yes of course you can do a HND or CCNA or even a degree, absolutely without ALs, a fact which I am surprised you still do not know!

That's Esoft but google/ search for EK posts, and find a good place, that offers a networking course, that fits your budget and more than anything, gets you a job right after you graduate. Check for their internship opportunities as well, even if it's unpaid.

    Cheers!

Thank you very much bro, for the reply.
Yes, its true..we can't do the thing, that we don't like.
I wanted to continue with to a degree after O/L..but, my parents forced me to do A/L, So, i decided to select maths as it will be useful for networking path later....but, now only I realized that I haven't done anything other than wasting $ on tuition classes..
We'll see....what others has to say.

Lemme, make a prediction here ok - you will somehow end up doing ALs, and more than likely you won't make it to the university :D.

Why I say that? Cuz your mind is in two places now, as you too seems to be a momma boy at 18, who cannot make a solid/ informed decision for yourself, without pleasing everyone.

You have to understand, the ones who quit school after OLs, at 16 itself, are the ones who very well know themselves hence the bravest. They know at 16 itself, that no matter how much they try, they cannot pass ALs with a top Z score. So they instead start doing a private degree, right after OLs, or just go work at a call center for Rs. 10,000 salary.

So by the time they become 19, they would either have a degree or hopefully accumulate at least Rs. 360,000 (10k x 36 months) in their bank account, when 90% of their former school colleagues, won't even get university entrance :D.

Now that's how the life works, take it or leave it. So tell me by the end of August 2011, whether Nalin was wrong, with the prediction I made about you, ok :D.

I wanted to quit school after O/L itself....you know what my father said...
"don't loose your school life, just do your A/L's whether you pass or not"

Anyway, I could have taken a clear decision, but you know people confuse us with yes/no type of answers.....someone will say A/L is needed, but, another will say, no need of A/Ls:no:

All I want to make clear is that, IF I dropped A/L and went on Privately, is there anything I'll loose? Is a degree without A/L is useless?

Just go to topjobs.lk and check for networking vacancies to see whether the employers specifically ask for the candidates to have ALs in addition to qualifications like CCNA etc., . As much as I know about the practical world, employers are more interested in recruiting people with the relevant experience but experience cannot obviously gained without first getting qualified. Beleive me, there are even thousands of labourers with ALs these days :D, as ALs is only worth doing, if you are a bookworm who is confident of getting a top Z score.

But if you are so guilty conscious about not having ALs :D, try doing it as a private candidate, so that you will be able to also complete the first year of a degree program by 2011 August.

hehe machn dnt think too much abt trigonometry, even now i can't do that but i got A for AL maths hehe, just study well and enjoy life,no need to study 24/7,do what u do correctly at that time, then rest sleep enjoy ;)

yeah A/L is a must if you plan to stay and work here in SL. And if you find local A/L so tough [ well it's like "DUH!" ] you should have gone through with London A/L which is way simpler than Local So now that you have already chosen at least try to go for 3 S's. and for higher education purposes i suggest you continue in IT field.
Good luck with your A/L's and believe me i know what you are going through happened more or less the same to me :)

AL is very important, in every country. high school education is very important for a person, so u must do AL. if physical science stream difficult , why you had chosen it? u had to choose commerce or arts,.
anyhow dont give up AL. if u pass AL, at least 4s passes including english, u have lot more ways to go and all ur degrees will be very valid after that. without high school education, whole ur education process is not complete.
