i salute da police officers who had da courage to go and arrest these ppl immediately wen they were informed via the phone by a eye witness when da kovil was being vandalized!! now waiting to c wat the verdict of the court will be.

BTW this is da second buddhist monk arrested in da same week and remanded for breaking the law!

Monk remanded for damaging statues

A Buddhist monk and two others who allegedly damaged statues at a Hindu Kovil in Grandpass has been remanded until September 9.

The monk identified as Rev Sapugasyaye Dhammananda thera had allegedly damaged the statues of Shrimuttumariamman Kovil in grandpas hours before they had a procession to mark a temple festival.

The suspects were produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate, Ajith Anawaratne.

Police objected to granting of bail.

So what r u suggesting ? the arrested Buddhist monk cant be Buddhist..then who should he be..? a christian ? or a Tamil or LTTE ?

know that there are extremists in all religions...Just because the monk is Buddhist it doesn't mean that he is not human.. As humans people have their own views & principles..

and just because this monk damaged a kovil..nobody thinks the other monks in the same light.. How many Temples & clergy have helped people in various races & religions ?

If u look at elakiri..99% of the members I'm sure condemn this kind of work..but there will be that 1% off extremists & racists who think 'Its right'...

They are not Buddhists. Buddha has said that if you insult another religion it is an insult to Buddha...
