I got a Gigabyte 8600 GT 512MB for 13.5k from Unity... I like it very much..good performer.. can play Time Shift & Assassins Creed in High Graphics & 1024x768 without much trouble..

and the temp range is brilliant.. goest to maximum of 68c when stressed.. idle its below 50c...

does your 96k have cooling fans instead of a heat sink ?

my one has a heat sink all over the card & sthey hav this thing called Silent-Pipe II Technology..which they claim that its better than fans... dont know how true this is though...

how much is a 9600GT in Sri Lanka ????

cause I totally agree with the poster who said its better to go with mid-range cards & update when the time comes ( I'm thinking about 1.5 year periods...can save some serious money by doing this..because u can sell your old one in wow for a descent price as well)

Active cooling (fans or water or anything....) always give better cooling performance than passive cooling (just the heatsink). your run cooler than mine because it is a not a very fast core. besides, i have slightly overclocked, which accounts to 1 - 2C.

I didn't buy the 96GT from SL. I don't think they are available here yet. I couldn't find any at Unity.
