Noise is a big problem! Maybe not to you. But I and some people here leave the PC on throughout the night. It disturbs us to have sweet dreams. Besides, if your CPU is stable, then don't worry much about the cooling. You are not gonna use the same CPU for more than 10 years no?

Well, I was talking more of that sleeping part. You have to actually fall asleep, to see dreams! With the noise of the fans, you can't fall asleep!

Maybe, fan controllers would be better. Turning them down is better than turning them off. Besides, you might hit a sweet spot where it doesn't let the system get much hot, and not irritating the ears at the same time.

If they rnt useful why would u keep them..
Anushas saying is right.I have tuned my PSU fans to a sweet spot-no much heat nor noise..
there r fans with speed controllers ucan buy them,controller fits in at pci card window of casing.
U can build them for about 40~50 rs.needs just two wires and a variable resistor like in radios..
