Its really easy to lower your ink usage. Just buy cheap paper! We print normally in 80gsm. buy around 60gsm and when printing reduce color intensity and viola! I print at -27 intensity on my Canon IP3500 it saves a lot. Note if you print in 80gsm with -27 your print will just be light colored.
